This must be the best price for the 24-70mm FE for a local stock with free shipping. Tempted to get one, but I just bought a new 50mm lens :(

Since this is camerapro, I suggest you call to verify stock.

    A7 only FYI

    • It will dwarf the smaller APS-C cameras (with e-mounts) like an A6000 but it should fit fine - just be the equivalent of a 36-105 mm zoom. Great price, and am tempted as the kit lens that came with my A7 is ok, but doesn't take full advantage of the sensor….. but am saving up for the 16-35….. ;-)

    • Works on A7 A7II A7R A7S and every E and FE mount camera too.

  • +1

Might grab this now and then wait for the A7II to be released and grab that as well.

I saw the A7II for $1700 or so (preorder), which is a pretty good price, given it's only $400 or so more than the A7.

  • This lens is not getting good reviews. new 16-35mm does, but almost twice the price.

    • Low chromatic aberration, appealing bokeh smoothness and good sharpness in the center. And what's the use of comparing the 16-35, this is 24-70, although not excellent for the price it's still the go to zoom lens if the Sony G lens 28-70 isn't good enough for you.

  • Hard to justify the price of this lens. The kit lens is great for $299 and hard to believe this lens could be much better. F4 is pretty slow, f2.8 would have made it a winner. Just spend a couple hundred or less on some nice old school manual focus glass like the Pentax Asahi Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 and have some fun with it.

    • I think one reason why people get this compared to the kit lens is because it's a constant aperture which is useful for video.I only find it hard to justify the price if it's the price that fotoriesel is selling it for.

f/2.8 will indeed be better, but I read somewhere that Sony made this f/4 because they want to maintain the idea of it being light and same goes for the 16-35mm compared to the other brands of 16-35mm. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but faster lens requires more glass.

I got myself a 90mm Contax Sonnar to play around with :)

    • This lens is much better than the FE kit lens. F/4 is plenty with the good ISO from the Sony FF bodies. And recommending a fast fixed MF prime as an alternative to a standard zoom is a bit silly.
