    dat shipping tho

  • it cost me $109 last time, cheap for someone!

  • actually almost every user with this version has issues with 5.0 after update, no surprise there being Tegra3

    • +1

It's not the Tegra 3, it's the cheap flash storage Google used. 4x Cortex A9s is still pretty decent by today's standards.

    • i can confirm, every iteration of each new update has made the nexus more laggy.

      even after a full wipe.

tbh, it was smoothest back in when Project Butter came out.

i still use my nexus 7 everyday =]

  • I had issues on 4.4.4 with random reboots and now on 5.0, just works.

  • Damn, just bought one from them yesterday for $75 - I've let my Ozbargain values down. Pretty good deal either way though.

Edit: the 16GB is available for $75.99 with same $19 shipping. However it isn't stocked in their local warehouse.

    • Hence no paypal payment option on 16gb…kinda kills the gig for me.

  • I used to have one of these when they first came out, a little sluggish now because of the 1GB ram, but would be hard to find a cheaper web browsing/email* tablet. *The storage will limit functionality as a media player, but you could always stream video from your home network.

8gb of ram and no sd is a real bummer

    • +19

8GB of RAM in a tablet would be amazing…

      • that's twice the ram of my computer :'(

        • +3

Cheer up mate. At least you're not some poor amputee kid with no parents, who has a computer with only 2 gigs of ram :'(

        • @inose:
Oh yeah?! Well my poor amputee kid with no parents, who has a computer with only 2 gigs of ram has to make do with a keyboard without a space bar!

        • -1

@blahman: Yeah??? Well at least you're not an amputee kid who has no parents, who has a computer with only 2 gigs of ram that also has a psu that shocks him half to death everytime he turns the computer on, and has a screen that flickers on and off like a strobe light.

  • Pretty for streaming movies and web browsing

Now running Lollipop. reasonably quick delivery too.

You might wish to share your experience in this forum post.

  • Did I use my 28degrees for this when it was $79?

  • this still sells for $80!?

just sold my 16gb for $100! couldnt wait for lollipop OTA!

  • Dam no microSD Card slot.

    • It's a nexus. Typical.

  • What's the consensus on whether to update this to Lollipop 5.0?

    • It's extremely easy to downgrade or use a custom rom.

    • i found it slower afterwards

don't recommend this model thanks to the sudden unable to charge issue and internal storage chip quality issue that result in freezes.
if 2013 model is like 150 then it is worth it,

    In metro Sydney.

Want to purchase this so i can take it with to overseas but I'm leaving next Friday.

    Is 5 business days enough?

    • Yes we have stock so most likely if you order today, you will receive before next Friday

Just a warning guys. I bought the refurbished nexus 7 16GB from the previous deal for $99. Shipping was very quick but after few days i had dead pixel. Emailed Expansys, they were happy to repair and they sent me another one few days ago. This time it wont charge at all. Again they were quick to respond. Ive returned the tablet and this time i did not want to wait for another one which might or might not work. They were happy to refund.
Just wanted to share my experience. I know few have had good unit and i might have been extremely unlucky, but it can happen.

Did you try the holding volume up button and power on button at the same time trick to start the charging.

    • +4

Seems like they offered great customer service?

      • I like Expansys.

    • +2

I purchased a refurbished Nexus 4 from them. I know a lot of OZBers got good ones. However, the one I received had a touch screen issue (one area of the screen won't register touch at all) and the phone freezes intermittently.

While Expansys offered good service, it was a time consuming process for everyone involved (including Expansys). I am not impressed with Google's quality control on refurbished products. Expansys obviously cannot check them (as that would involve removing the screen protector and potentially leaving fingerprints everywhere). There is definitely a risk with these refurbished items.

      • Exactly what i wanted to convey on my post. While Expansys came good with their warranty, as a consumer i was disappointed. Please think twice before you buy the nexus 7 2012 model. Just google nexus 7 2012 issues before you buy them.

        • It would be good if we had an idea of the percentage of duds, because some people got a great deal and had no issues with their device, but people are more inclined to report a bad experience than a good one.

  • +2

warning guys*** I went through about 3 of these before giving up when they first came out.

They just kept dying on me…black screen etc.

Great unit for the price if it doesn't break :)

The 2013 model is much much more reliable.

  • When the official Lollipop release is out, can I upgrade? Assuming that I don't want to upgrade it from that website?

    • It is out. OTA just take a while to be sent to devices.

  • Not sure about lollipop I bought one from previous deal and it doesn't have the update to 5.0 available yet. Wonder if it's only for2013 models

    • +3

Seriously? The answer to your question is right above your post. I don't get people.

  • Went through a B and M store to get one a while ago but all 3 had charging issues. All three charged battery between 15 and 20 hours.

  • Thanks OP. Bought 6. Shipping is cheaper if you separate into bundles of 2, rather than all 6 in one package. Go figure.

    • Wondering if any of the 6 you bought had problems like with user Pengo below?

  • Not really happy with Expansys.. Ordered 2x Nexus 7 on the weekend on the provision that 2-4 day shipping would get it to me prior to my holiday on Thursday the following week (i.e. 8 full business days).

Its been nearly 4 business days and the order is just sitting as "part shippable" (despite being in-stock) and they haven't answered my email communication. blah not used such slowness.

    • "We run out stock at the moment.
Next delivery is scheduled on 15th. Confirming that you will have not have it on the 17th, we helped you to cancel your order and released CC authority.
No money has been taken so therefore refund is not required. "

I'm not sure why a tech seller can't have a website which adequately reflects stock.

      • Please provide your order number for us to check.

        • 4C6N-088C-BE52

Money is refunded. But now I have no tablets for my holiday :(

  • I ordered 2* of the 16gb version.

1* has a faulty usb port. No charge using the supplied cable. I tried both chargers/cables
1* has a faulty headphone port. Audio on only 1 side and cuts out.

not happy. They are going back

My mate also ordered 2* 16gb

    1* has a glass delamination.
    1* seems ok

    so thats 75% failure rate.

Support told me if I ordered 2* more they would waive shipping on the next 2. These were supposed to be christmas presents.

They are very slow responding to emails !! Dont even bother trying to call either.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Was going to buy 3 tablets. Now I have cold feet.

    • Hi Pengo,

      Please provide your order number

  • Well I finally got my 2* replacements …. both work fine.

I then ordered another one. It also works fine.

Happy now but my original order they came with covers. Expansys made me send them back and I was forced to place an order for 2* replacements without covers since these were an xmas present and time constraints. I asked for expansys to replace my covers but no reply :(

I did get a refund for the orignal order but it was also slow.
