  • is it worth spending this sort of money for the hardware when you can just share/ration your ipad or other tablet device with your kids?

    • Depends what age the kids are and how rough they are with things… I'd rather a child up to around 6 have this then my ipad :)

      • You would be locked in worse than Apple if you bought this.

        • can this be rooted?

        • It can play any .avi / .mp4 etc. files, and the "safe net browsing" function can presumably be turned off, right?
          Assuming that it can do that stuff, then at this price I reckon it's a good option for very young kids (which could then double as a spare for net-browsing etc. when the kids are asleep), because (as stated above) of the durability. This thing is presumably "designed to be dropped"… We can't let our (very) young son play with our real tablet, cause he'll drop it (he's only about 14 months old); but sadly, it's the one thing he wants to play with most of all! So I reckon we'll get him this.

          @GnarlyKnuckles:

          I bought this case for our IPAD

          You can check out the drop test videos. Seems quite convincing.

          Bought from Amazon

        • @Kaboda:
          Cheers K, I'll check it out.

    App prizes on Leapfrog are outrageous.
    Me thinks any cheap android tablet with Kid Mode installed will be much more versatile.
    You get lot of free kids games/educational s/w on Play and Amazon Appstore
    Paid ones also are much cheaper.

  • I got one of these, regretting it now as the games are too expensive… my 2 year old still prefers then iPad :-(

  • I got a kudroid 7s earlier in the year for 79 bucks and it's been great. Pretty low spec but still plays Dead Trigger 2 so it's fine for playing more basic games and the kid loves it
