Cancelled order for 1080p version. Waiting for 4k version

  • +4

So many up votes, peer pressure…
    Must wait…

    • +5

Waiting for it to be sold out so you can regret not buying it when it was available?

  • +2

I have a Pebble and love it, and I feel for $115 this is totally worth just mucking around with. Ughhhhhhh god dammit Ozbargain.

    • Exactly the same as me, ordered a few hours ago :'(

  • +1

Thanks OP, bought. Like many here, I'm cautious about 1st Gen, and really didn't want a big rectangle on my wrist. But at $99 (well $114), I've got the option to send it back for a couple weeks, and if I figure I really don't like it after 6 months, well then it was only $99. Much better than $200+ that the early adopters paid.

  • Anyone get an OfficeWorks price match? Post a receipt, pleeease!

    • Shouldn't need a receipt, just show them on your phone.

    • Both officeworks and good guys are only selling online. Dont think you can price match as a result

  • Great price but I'll stick to the pebble that's waiting for me under the Christmas tree.

  • Where is it sent from? And if it's overseas, what kind of plug pack does it come with?

    • Well it may be sent from overseas, but given it's being bought from Google Australia, it's more than reasonable to expect an AU plugpack.

  • So Galaxy gear or this bad boy ?

    • I think it's really just down to personal preference. Which one do you like the look of more?

I went with the Gear as it looked sleeker to me.

    • Mind share the link for galaxy gear mocha grey, where did you get from? Cheapest one I found for $165 at ebay.

  • Got one YEAH!!! Going to wear a watch after 10+ years.

  • Its fairly good price, but I can't help to say the style is plain, also battery not that great.

Need to wait for smartwatch tech to be more matured.

At this point Motorola 360 looks better than the rest. But still 1 day battery

    • +1

At least the moto 360's included wireless charging desktop dock makes it pretty easy to recharge every day. It looks quite nice on your bedside table or desk too.

    • The magnetic dock for charging is not really any more difficult to use than a wireless dock. The charger dock works very well. Battery is fine for a whole day on mine.

      • It looks easier with the 360 if you have a non-floppy strap. I have the same style of magnetic charger with my LG R. The watch can't lay flat on a table because of the strap, so I have to recharge it face-down and make sure the charger doesn't pop off when moved.

  • Can this be used for cellular calls via a Bluetooth connection to a compatible Android phone?

    • No.

      • Thanks. Then Samsung Gear 2 is better but more expensive.

        • Go for it Dick Tracy :-)

  • +1

Much better charging mechanism than Gear Live. My Gear Live broke and OW took it back. Tempted here for 99 dollars. These watches are great in meetings when pulling out a phone is not desired/permitted.

  • +1

Got my shipping notification. Can anyone work out what number is the tracking number. The link throws up an error in the email. And the number says invalid.

    • +1

Give it some time. Google has probably allocated your tracking number, but it hasn't been scanned by [shipping company] yet, so it won't show up.

  • +10

Well, thanks a lot Ozbargain! Because of my impulsive purchase this morning my girlfriend came out and gave me a Moto360 she has been hiding for a month now in anticipation for christmas, because she didn't know how else to get me to cancel that order :P

No seriously, thanks a bunch! I love this watch AND this girl! <3

  • +1

I'm on the fence about this one. Please convince me :)

    • +1

      You don't need this.
      Convinced?

    • You need this.
      Convinced?

      • You only live once. Go for it.
        Convinced?

        • You only live once… you don't want to spend half that time (worrying about) charging batteries.
          Unconvinced?

        • Yolo!

        • +1

@YellowKnight: I've decided not to get it. Thanks for your help everyone :)

        • @Finnthehuman:
You can still change your mind, it's not too late :-)

        • @DJ: Staying strong here, still not buying :)

  • This is pretty useless outside. Its hard to see the screen in sun. Personally I would wait for Asus Zenwatch

  • Got mine shipping confirmation.

  • +1

Why has no one commented about being able to price match it and having had purchased it from Officeworks yet?

  • Bought. No idea why. Now I wait excitedly for the item that I don't need to be shipped expediently. F5, F5, F5 on wallet transaction page.

  • Goddamit… held of for a solid 2 days and i just bought it. I don't even need it. :( Why OzBargain why?!!

  • Has anyone try Ow price match? Gonna give it a try later, not sure about the result though

  • White Gold or Black, what has been the choice for color with all buyers?

    • +1

I wanted to try something different and got the white gold. Most likely will end up ditching the white strap anyway and put something else on it - so it'll pretty much look like the black and except for the little bit of gold on the edges. What did you get?

      • Still on the fence for color but like you will go for the white gold and ditch the strap.

  • Tracking number still showing invalid, got this email 2 days ago.I was hoping to wear it this weekend but seems like I won't.

    • I'm getting the same thing, my guess is it hasn't hit Australia yet. I'm hoping it will show up once it clears customs.

      • Did you lot pay for the quicker shipping, or just the standard? I wasn't expecting mine to arrive for a few weeks.

        • Just standard, it is listed as 3-5 Business Days (fast was listed as 1-3)

        • @ozdavo: I paid for priority yesterday afternoon and my tracking is showing In Transit.

        • @wasabinator: I guess that is DHL or similiar?
The standard says it is with Aus Post (eParcel I think?)
I'm not stressed about it, but I do expect it to arrive next week.

        • @ozdavo: Yep it's Toll Global Express service. Due to the timing of my purchase I suspect it won't be here until Monday, so the difference between the priority vs standard shipping probably isn't huge.

        • +1

To my surprise, it arrived today. Very nice device, and just in time for the Lollipop update.

    • Mine has shown up on the AusPost tracking this morning, at my local sorting centre, so I'm confident I'll get it today.

      • Nice one, that gives me hope… mine is still invalid.

  • We should change the Upvote Button colour to red. Green means, "Go ahead, buy!"

  • tried to add it, gave me the discount & when I went to the next step tried to charge me $249?
    Don't trust it

    • Clearly shows item price of $249, then below it says Discounts -$150.
And remember there is a 14 day no questions asked return policy.

  • +1

Okay guys, I just received my G watch (paid a little extra for the faster shipping).
So far I am HAPPY. The charger is cool, the watch is cool, it's all cool. Definitely happy with the purchase price. It does not feel cheap at all, I mean, it's a friggen smartwatch.
This is pretty much top of the line smartwatch at the moment, and a faster cpu than the fancy round motorola watch.

For $99 + shipping, this is wonderful! I say buy it now. Plenty of room to get a better watch in the future, without feeling like you were ripped off initially. The watches are bound to get a lot better in about a year after the apple watch becomes common and android responds.

  • but..but ..but what do you do with it?

    • +1

      …watch it.

    • Google.

    • "Ok Google…"

      • +2

        "OK Google. What's the time?"

  • Good timing - 5.0 update began rolling out for Android wear a few hours ago.

  • +1

Anyone with a Auspost tracking number got anything yet. The link from the email puts all these words into the auspost search, and just using the first letters and numbers doesn't give any results either.

    • +1, ordered on tues

      • Mine was shipped on the 9th apparently but the proper tracking number doesn't worth either.

    • Yeah exactly the same problem and still comes up as invalid tracking number when I try the numbers only

    • +1

Mine has shown up on the AusPost tracking this morning, at my local sorting centre, so I'm confident I'll get it today.

      • when was yours ordered/shipped? Mine shipped on Wednesday still saying invalid…

        • Mine shipped Tuesday 09/12

        • +1

          @ozdavo:
I'm same as octavo. Shipped Tuesday in transit for delivery today

        • @DJ: And just arrived! (I had it delivered to work)

        • @ozdavo: davo so when you clicked the link with the Aus post tracking number instead of showing an error it finally showed it was in transit? Because mine is still in error status

        • @ranma: Actually when I clicked the link it had an error in the url, something about bluedart.com who look like a DHL contractor (?), but if when I entered the tracking number (for me it was 7GJ304***) it showed unvalid tracking number until this morning when it showed "With Australia Post for Delivery Today"

        • +6

          For those of you that are getting invalid tracking numbers, you can see your tracking information at the following link - add your original reference number to the end of the url [after postal_ref_no=] which will be a 10 digit alpha numeric;

          http://www.directlinktrackedplus.com/multipletrack-client2.p…

I hope this helps in your anxiety ;-)

        • @baybeans:

          thanks, that really worked, but
You can connect to your local tracking website at the destination below directly.

http://auspost.com.au/track/track.html?id= this one from the website wont still work.

          thanks for the link

        • @baybeans: Awesomesauce, thanks!

Curiously, it shows up as being fulfilled by Expansys when I plug it into the directlink site… anyone else like this?

Oh and mine's out on the truck this morning so hopefully I'll be seeing it today!

  • Mine turned up today.. yipeee.

  • ok, time for some honesty.. am I the only one that has buyers remorse and is still looking at the Pebble? the 1 day battery, hard to read in sunlight, sometimes hit and miss google voice, and no swimming waterproof make me feel like I have to baby it. Google Play offers a no questions asked return (less delivery).

    • I went from a Pebble to Android Wear and can't imagine going back.

  • I have some buyers remorse right now. It seems pretty crap compared to my Samsung smart watches. The band part is pretty good. The lowish resolution is hard to look at. No button is irritating. The vibration is way too low so I just forget to check it.

    • +1

The vibration is way too low so I just forget to check it.

I hope that's not a common theme with Android Wear. The Gear Live and G Watch R both have weak vibration motors compared to the Pebble.

I wish they could implement a vibration strength menu where you can select "Useless", "Medium", "High", and "Bone-shattering".

      • I set a 15 nap timer. I woke up 5 hours later. The vibration motor is useless compared to my Pebble which I've since sold :(

        • haha .. I don't blame you! At least the vibration motor is quieter than the Pebble. I hope the next crop of watches use a linear resonant actuator which would be quieter.
