    recommendation for shanghai?

  • +5

This is not really a bargain as prices are inflated to start with. For example Comfort Inn All Seasons in Ballina from 20/12 to 22/12 (2 nights) queen bed room is $155/night (discounted - $124/night). At bookings.com the same room can be had for $119/night.

Use metasearch engines to find the best deal

I did a quick search on a villa ive been looking at in Bali, with 20% discount for 6 nights comes to $1000 exactly. Using a generic search on expedia I get $1026 (not trying to find discount etc).

Seems to be scaled up to account for 20% discount. I will try a few more to confirm.

    • Like trivago?

    • Some bring the price back to square, some give you the ~20% cheaper than elsewhere. Just got to search around and not look at one hotel.

    • +4

I have used this site in the past with a 20% off coupon. For that premises (a serviced apartment in Canberra) all sites were offering similar pricing. The coupon saved me a real 20%. So in at least some places the deal is legit.

      • I was going to book my holiday few hours ago but when I checked their reviews, it is very bad.

Have you had any trouble with them?

        • I only used them the once, but had no issues.

  • +1

Thanks OP, I was actually just clicking to see if there was a recent ratestogo voucher code! Very handy! Great savings to be had if you know what prices are available (searching domestically).

  • Note the rate will change after you press BOOK! Thankyou, Helped me out, Hong Kong on a Sat night is expensive!

    • -1

so for your booking, you did compare the prices with other online website and this one with coupon is the cheapest?

      • I did. This worked well with my Hong Kong booking. I have been on booking.com, agoda, wotif, etc over the past week looking and most 3-4 star hotels in Kowloon or HK Island are over $150. I got Mingle on the Wing at Central for $117 all taxes included. About $140+ on other sites.

I seem to do better with orbitz 15% code 'GIFTME'

    • agreed, and it appears to be identical to Orbitz anyway, are they linked?
I've been booking a lot of hotels in the states recently and have been heavily using expedia, orbitz and booking.com.

Each were cheapest at one point! It is annoying that some hotels the orbitz codes dont work.

  • Pity this doesn't come with the $50 voucher as well from hotelclub! Considering its the same company and all…

  • +4

Orbitz are the parent company of rates2go and cheaptickets. Cheap tickets current 20% off code is FESTIVE available till 1359 Dec 15 Perth Au time. I've used this mob extensively of late and even factoring in the conversion from USD to AUD I've found them cheaper for the hotels I chose recently in KL Phuket and Bali where I am now. Im not saying always cheaper for all hotels you do the comparisons.

    • +2

cheap tickets is using CELEBRATE as code also for some bookings

      • +2

I stand corrected. Current code is indeed CELEBRATE festive has expired.

      • +1

CELEBRATE did better than GIFTME… just cancelled with orbitz and rebooked with Cheaptickets.

        Tnanks.

(My booking now includes breakfast for 3 mornings and for $7USD less)

    • +1

I've found even with the poor AUD that Orbitz GIFTME has been good, shame they don't have a 20% at the moment, they often do. Works with some hotels.

  • "We're sorry the promotion code you entered is not valid for this hotel. Please see the promotion code rules for a list of non participating hotels."

    • +1

Type the promo code in at the bottom of the search function on the main page. It will then tell you if the code works for that hotel or not.

        great tip, thanks buddy!!

Just booked Crown Metropol in Melbourne for this Friday for $265 with breakfast for two and valet parking! Great value Thanks OP!

    • +1

What is that in $ per hour of action.

      • +2

I'm not interested in being the richest guy in the cemetery.

    • +1

      $260 at cheaptickets.
      (using xe.com)

      • Saved a few more dollars more well done. If I could get an exchange rate like xe I probably would have.

    • it's $194 @ entertainment book website, not sure how much breakfast and valet parking are worth though as I don't think those are included

      • +1

On cheaptickets the brekkie and valet is a bookable package.

"Nu Luxury Package - Luxe King Room"

      • $50 for valet and $38.50pp for breakfast =$127 extra

        • The breakfast is not the best… Definitely not worth $38.50pp.

        • @Tiggrrrrr:

I disagree mate, I thought the breakfast was great. A bit expensive but all you can eat and heaps of choices!

  • +1

Using mobile website I got an additional 10% off and free cancelation when booking a Gold Coast hotel. Stack em guys!

  • -1

Not a deal, after 20% off is still more expensive than HotelClub. (Both of their websites look the same by the way, not sure if they are owned by the same company)

    • HotelClub and RatesToGo use the same Australian customer service hotline number, if that means anything…

  • Don't forget the current $20 off $100 spend offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/173106

    • +1

      Wrong post bro

      • Thanks

        • Ps. That expires 17th December, and the new deal just posted starts 22nd December

        • +1

@usama91: That's right. So use an entertainment code for the time being, then use the other code from the 22nd.

  • +1

Thanks heaps, saved $135 for a caravan park booking in Canberra. Cheapest by far even when compared with the establishment's direct rates.

  • code works but prices are still more then other websites.

  • Code did not work at the Marriott Hotel Brisbane.

Said code not valid at hotel, check terms and conditions. and the t's and c's listed nothing of the Marriott being excluded.

  • Didnt work at Gold Coast.

  • Code still active as at 23/1/15, gave 20% off rates that were standard on other websites such as Ibis Sydney Airport and Ibis Budget Sydney Airport.

  • ratestogo is my fav but they have the least available hotels.

  • +1

Still active as of 30/1/15, just used it. Thanks OP :)
