  • love to get some butter

do they keep well when posted?

    • I haven't placed an order with them before, but it says on the stall page

      Shipping
The Butter Factory Myrtleford post all items on a Tuesday morning any orders placed after monday 5pm will be sent the following week, however delays may occur due to unforseen circumstances. We do this so your butter arrives before the weekend and is not sitting in a warehouse for several days.

      Packaging
We pack all perishables in poly boxes with freezer packs to keep your products cool, we > also send a little packet of seeds to re-use your box.

      • interesting
        might try some!

    • +1

Yes, I order from them regularly. As mentioned above, they pack the products in a little foam esky with ice packs in order to maintain the cool temperature. They even provide you with a packet of seeds so that you can use the foam esky as a planter pot rather than tossing it out!

      • Do they use Australia post or courier? Just wondering if their little icebox would keep things cool enough if it takes more than 1 day to deliver to Sydney.

        • +1

Aus Post, I think. The ice gel packs were still frozen when I received my pack in Adelaide, so they seem to function pretty well.

  • Thanks!Ordered the bulk cultered butter.

    • Bulk! Are you doing heaps of baking?

The 250g packs say "Shelf Life- 100 days", I could (happily) go through a kg of butter in 100 days :)

  • Just got the email from Farmhouse Direct, added Coopers Pies and changed the main link to include all the free shipping specials.

  • nice work, good deal.

  • Too rich for my palate.

      Buttermilk is 2% fat. ;)

      • +1

And their buttermilk is seriously divine. Much better than the stuff you can get at the supermarket too. Thankfully, it's freezable.

        • Thanks for that, I was going to try some :)

  • Sign up for their newsletter thing and they will send you email-spam once every day or two about different stalls with free shipping and specials.

Nice share. Going to buy more macadamias. Can't get them better than farm fresh.
Tried the truffle butter from Myrtleford butter factory and it is delicious but extremely rich!

I'm a bit "iffy" ordering off Farmhouse Direct now.

The past 2 orders have been problematic, as well as communication being poor or nothing at all.

The first order ended up as a partial substitution (which I didn't agree to).
The second was the one with no communication at all. I had a box of very hot cherries delivered, hence they went off faster, even though we refrigerated as soon as they arrived. They were not packed in any form of cooling box at all.

It really depends on the seller. I got a couple of smashed jars of honey (in glass jars) due to inadequate packaging and rough handling by Australia Post, but the seller was apologetic and sent two replacement jars quite quickly.

      • +1

Probably and in your case it was good that the seller took responsibility for poor packaging.

What got me was 2 bad experiences one after the other.

        • Yeah I would definitely be annoyed too if I had the same poor service. Sorry to hear that. :(

        • Thanks @moocher:
Pity really, it's a good idea but only takes a minority to spoil it.

I wish someone would offer gammon on there, I'd give it a try to see if that one worked out.
Can't find anyone who will post it. The only one I can find, I have to pick up from Sydney.

        • My post seems to have upset a few. So bad experiences are a no-no to mention?

        • @whodidthat: Don't see anything wrong with your comment.

        • Neither did I @moocher: but a few seemed to think there was (was -3)

    • i would also advise against the cherries, they werent shipped quickly like the rest of the orders, when they arrived they weren't even as good as ones from coles or woolies and they went off very quick

    • There only seems to be one seller of cherries there at the moment. Can I ask if yours were from there?

We're thinking of sending a couple of boxes as Christmas gifts, but there isn't much point if they're not going to be any good.

      • Mine were from Caernarvon Cherry Company

Whats wrong with posting a bad experience as long as it is a 'considered' post? I thought your comment was reasonable so I upvoted you.

    • Thank you PipsDad

  • Free shipping now extended to all orders until midnight 12/12.

    • Yeah got the email too. Post updated
