Nice TV for the price, works with miracast and you can cast youtube from pc.
If you get one turn off shapening, motion smoothing and skintone and you will be getting close to a good picture FTA, if you sit to close you will see every defect from compression :)
USB playback supports MKV and dual audio and sub tracks, usb play back is superb at any resolution.
4k youtube is stunning and the wifi works great at our place.
Oh and if your wife is like mine :) it has the simplest remote on the planet for standard veiwer use.
The 3 year warranty at your house as well.
    Good Guys will match.

  • www.appliancesnow.com.au/hisense-uhd-50k320uw.html $763.74 +del (which is $59 for central Sydney, "We may not be able to ship this item to your postcode" for elsewhere for some reason.)
I don't know anything about this company but may be good for price matching.

(Betta delivery seems to be usually $49 but some lucky people seem to get it for free and others (presumably regional) have to pay nearly $200.)

Also, it's always a bit of worry when there is absolutely no information about this product anywhere, including the Hisense site! (Other than a brochure which is accessed by direct IP address!)

  • Its a brand new model, we bought ours a bit over a week ago and they had been in store for 2 hours :) all the others stores were waiting on stock at that time.
Apparently from comments on forums about Hisense 4k previous models, they are sometimes released here before the information about them.

    • So how do you rate it?

      • As you can see from my first post, very pleased with it, colours are great, black very dark and very even lighting across screen, veiwing from any normal angle is good veiwed from extreme side veiw the colours wash out a bit but picture is still clear (this is almost comletly side on).
Out of the box FTA looked terrible as it highlighted all the compression artefacts but turn off shapening, motion smoothing and skintone and you will be getting close to a good picture FTA when veiwed from normal distance, as with all large hi res screens.
Anything off USB is superb as it upscales brilliantly, beside DLNA we also use a chromecast so I can send catch up tv for the wife and it looks like HD compared to the transmitted shows.
The smart function is not the full android but has Opera browser and a stck of apps from the Opera shop especially video, internet tv, youtube etc. 4k youtube is incredible.
You cannot see any pixels on the screen unlike our old plasma and its handled every codec I have thrown at it so far.
        Any specific questions please ask.

        • I can't seem to find this in the specs but is it 4k @ 60Hz/100Hz? That means it should be HDMI2.0 but neither the refresh rate at 4k or the HDMI version are stated in the spec.

        • Just a quick update, I just set up our 1080p 32" in the same room with the same FTA broadcast, the picture quality even on FTA is dramatically better and so much sharper on the 50"

        • @br3ttles:
The specs seem to indicate 100hz at full resolution and high speed motion is sharp.

I admit the lack of info made me hesitate but for the price and the specs I could read it seemed a pretty easy choice, especially as the wife specified it must have a black frame and there are a lot of silver or grey ones around :)

        • @geebee:
If that's the case this is a brilliant deal, very few sub $1000 with 4k @ 60Hz+. 50" isn't ideal but +1 as I would buy if I had the funds.

  • What kind of odd resolution is 3040 x 2160

    • Obviously a typo 3840 x 2160 AKA 4k

  • Can someone confirm this thing does 60hz at 4k resolution?

    • Specs indicate that it does better..

      Resolution 3840 x 2160
      Refresh rate 100

      • not really, 100hz could be referring to 1080p @ 100hz, current limit of 4k is 60hz.

        • well u could buy it and see, and if its wrong, then return it and say the specs false advertised..

        • @eXtremist: You would have to get the spec's/brochure from the place of purchase. I wouldn't want to try my luck on a refund based on a random IP address!

        • @McFly: You'll find thats the only brochure for this item so its your only spec sheet and they wont provide one because its not even on their website so good luck with that.. lol

        • +1

@eXtremist: Yeah, I guess the way to do it would be print it out then ask the salesperson to confirm.

        • @McFly:

Hey guys, I went to the good guys store yesterday and asked for the user manual / setup guide.
Can confirm this tv runs 4k @ 24/25/30hz. No HDMI 2.0 so that was a deal breaker for me.

        • @evalord: Well done.

        • @McFly:

After using this tv for an hour I'm over it. I get an average score of 450ms on
          http://www.humanbenchmark.com/

I don't have the quickest reflexes but with my IPS monitor (again some lag but not noticeable) I average 230ms. Hence this tv has at least 200ms lag on top of whatever you are using ie consoles / computers etc. The lag is unreal, I would not use this tv for anything apart from watching movies. Ended up selling it today.
