Nice. Its just 2 min walk from my office. Hiwever, the more retailers start to dump the stock of a7, the more I'm interested in a7II.

    • IMO the a7 is more interesting considering the sensor and IQ will be the same as the a7II, but for half the price.

  • Revoked my + on camerapro. Looks better deal than that. Best price I have seen with the lens and bonus adapter.

  • This expires 28 Dec…can someone add that expiry to this post? I just got an email regarding this offer

      Thanks, updated.

Come on $999. That's my Xmas wish

    • Hahaa. Hope they are reading here. Else go to the shop and express your wish to the Manager and see if he fulfils it for sake of Ozbargain community :)
      And well do post back…

    • Well, apparently it will be $825 with the $250 instant cash back?

I am assuming that price advertised is already with the $250 cash back. If not, this is an even more insane price. Can anyone confirm?

        • +2

This would be correct. The online price will reflect the instant cashback as well as the free lens.

      • Edited: ah i thought it wasn't included yet on the listing price.. got a little to excited :(

That is awesome! it would bring a7s to 1,825

        The discount is already included.

      • Can someone confirm this? I saw this:

PLEASE NOTE: Our sell price includes the instant cash back.

  • Good! Camera pro has surcharge on credit card.

  • what is the lens adapter for? I can't imagine for other camera lenses like nikon and canon.. that's just cheating..

At the bottom of the page in the link it says:
      "Adapters Avaliable

Canon EF to E-Mount (Mark III) (Model: MB_EF-E-BM3) - Electronic Control
      Nikon G to E-Mount (Model: MB_NG-E-BM2) - Manual Control
      Leica M to E-Mount (Model: MB_LM-E-BM2) - Manual Control
      Sony A-Mount to E-Mount (Model: LAEA4) - Electronic Control"

So I assume they let you choose which adapter you want, which will allow you to use Canon or Nikon depending on the adapter you choose. But I read somewhere I think using the adapter the Autofocus stops working or does not work as well.

Read this link near the bottom about Autofocus:
      http://metabones.com/products/details/MB-EF-E-BM3

For the Canon adapter, Autofocus is just slow for most lenses that it's better to just manual focus.

Also, for recent orders, I believe it should be the Mark IV. I purchased an a7s last month and got the Mark IV.

  • Does anyone know what the Care packages do? Upgrade??

  • I am still thinking whether I should buy the Canon 6D or this A7, both come with a good lense for under $1100.

The review shows Canon 6D is much better.

    http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-6D-vs-Sony-A7

    • buy sony a7. you will love the compact size when you been around or travel.

      • Depends on your needs. If you don't care about size, and plan on shooting things that move fast (sports, kids, etc) the Canon will likely fit your needs better.

The ecosystem for Canon (lens, flashes, etc) is also MUCH more developed than Sony.

If you value size and portability, then Sony :) If you plan on doing mostly landscapes etc, I suspect the Sony sensor will be more suited to your needs.

But, if you were seriously considering Canon 6D, I'd also check out the Nikon D750!

    • where can you get a 6d with lens for a similar price with this?

    • Where can you get a 6D with lens for under $1100? Used or new?

  • hmm should i get this or A7ii in Japan?

    A7ii has body stabilizing…

    • the price for A7 will drop more soon, so best to wait IMO

    • Get the Mark II if you're willing to pay extra and if stabilisation is important to you. I've found myself using proper shooting technique with the A7 (I often don't do it with my non-full frame cameras) and thus don't feel like I need the stabilisation that much. I wouldn't mind it at all though if it was cheaper. Maybe I'd get the Mark III eventually (I like to skip a generation at least). Or maybe I'll just get the A7S since I can just push the ISO up and get faster shutter speeds.

    • Unless you record video more. Not worth for photo shooting as Sony camera has better ISO.

  • Sweet deal considering it comes with a lens and an adapter of your choice. I'd get it if I didn't already have one. Doesn't hurt to wait though for the new models to come out if you're not in a hurry.

    Prices have gone up.

    • YEa, noticed that as well, but I am sure they mentioned this is till 26 or 28.

    • CameraPro still have the A7 for $1069 and A7S for $1989 (in-store/bank transfer).

Those not close to Brisbane should ask their local camera store to price match.

      • +1

Funny, their a7 price has also gone back up.

        • We know they can be sold for those prices, so any potential purchaser should try asking for them.

My attempt to see the year out without buying yet another camera failed when I accidentally found myself in a Camera House on Saturday. They had a few A7Ses, and the blighters said they'd match CameraPro's $1989 price.

  • This deal is still going (albeit at a slightly different price) - but when I add the item to my cart, it lists it as "Sony Alpha A7 Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Body", with no mention of the free lens.

Is this OK - would I still get the lens? I presume so, but hoping I'm not missing something obvious (like "free lens - while stock lasts")

    • +1

The product page states "FREE FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens (SEL2870). Limited offer - ends Dec 28", so today is the last day. Take a screenshot of the page and if you don't get the lens you can ring them up and politely demand your lens.

      • Thanks Thrift, yep, I did that, I'm still deliberating over buying this, hence leaving it til the last minute. On paper it looks great value. I have a Nikon D90, not a big investment in lenses (kit 18-105 and the cheap 50/1.8). My previous digital camera was the Sony F717, which was excellent for its time, so this one piques my interest.

  • You can get the same price and deal from Paxton cameras.
    Might worth checking.

  • I will never purchase any items from Digidirect….
