Ahh, it's just a separate DashCam pack. They had me going there for a while… but how cool would that be, a head unit with built-in smarts for forward & reverse DashCam! Makes complete sense to me as you could then just have really small & compact camera units without the need for screens as everything else could just be in the head unit including USB/SD memory.

    • Isn't the forward half of that at least a pretty standard fitting on the chinese units? It usually goes by the heading of "DVR/PVR"; but it does what you suggest.

      • I dunno, I haven't really looked into those but it seems none of the branded units have that feature.

… but the Repco deal doesn't include a DashCam. That's just a Reversing Camera & Bluetooth adaptor.

    Great deal.
Last year, I installed an XAV-701BT which is a higher end model and the sound quality was pretty average - just setting your expectations low.

      so not fully sic then?

  • Pretty sure this is an old model current model is called something like 612bt.
Jb had the 612 for around $400 a few weeks back and Robina jb had the top line 712 with built in gps mapping for $598 (it's back to the normal $1000 now)

Anyway good deal for what you bought.

  • Im sorry to have a question
How to install it after buy?
Will they help to install or should i go to some shop to do install?

    • … or should you DIY it? Depending on the car it really isn't difficult to install a head unit like this. If you can use a screwdriver you should be able to install one of these yourself. Assuming your existing head unit is already a double-din it should just be a matter of unclipping various dress panels & strips on your dash until you see the screws holding the existing unit in. Simply unscrew the old unit, change the brackets over to the new unit, connect the cables (you will probably need an adaptor harness for another $20 or so) and screw the new unit in. Clip the plastic panels & strips back in place and job's done! A basic unit like this (ie. no cameras, DAB antennas, steering wheel controllers etc.) should take all of about 30minutes… and that's taking your time!

      • REally depends on the car. Most cars these days don't come with the stock standard double DIN headunit space like they did in the 90s…I know my 2001 Nissan doesn't…

        • True, but a lot of them disguise the double-din with fancy fascia and seemingly integrated OEM unit when in fact all you need is a 3rd party fascia replacement for your exact model and you should easily be able to fit something like this as the mounting space behind the plastic is probably just double-din anyway. This was the case with our Corolla and our Suzuki SX4… $50 worth of fascia and problem solved.

    • Jb hifi told me $150 to install but that was for all the steering wheel controls to work as well (controls for stereo and phone will work with unit) this was for an xtrail.

  • Anyone got suggestion for a dbl din with built in Nav and reverse camera?
Anyone rate the android units on eBay?

    • The cheap ebay ones are horrible. Shocking interface and awful screen. That's what I have found on the few I have used.
They look good in the ebay listing, but far from it in real life.

As I mentioned above jb had the 712 model cheap so keep an eye out when it's on sale again.
It uses tom tom maps btw.

Most good units you can just have your phone screen mirrored on the unit and use gps that way.

      • Cheers. Thanks for the info PVA
