Cheaper than buying the batteries alone, seemed like a good deal to me, accidentally bought 4 of them :-)

    • +2

You get 8 batteries for the same price of this charger + 4 batteries pack.

      • Sorry I don't get it, you can get 8 batteries for the same price but without the charger, you can't do anything with them. Am i missing something?

If you buy four "charger + 4 batteries" packs, you get four chargers and 16 batteries for $59.92.

If you bought one "charger + 4 batteries" pack and three "8 batteries" packs, you get one charger and 28 batteries for the same price of $59.92.

The effective price per battery in the "charger + 4 batteries" pack is $3.745 per battery.
The effective price per battery in the "8 batteries" pack is $1.8725 per battery.

Buying the "charger + 4 batteries" pack is not cheaper than buying the batteries alone.

        • @Thrift:
Ah i see you are referring to the comment that dtswk accidentally brought 4. I missed that, I got confused about buying one 4 pack battery w charger vs another 8 pack battery. Thanks for clarifying

Is there a better charger option?

        • Too much maths, my head hurts.
          Get me a beer.

    • Cheaper than buying the batteries alone

No it's not. As thrift mentioned you get double the amount of batteries for the same price. Hopefully you really needed 4 chargers, otherwise you've just paid $60 for 16 batteries LOL.

  • Are the eneloops still China made?

    • Yes! (These ones are)
It's also a 'dumb' charger! (Timer cut only)

I would have thought we had got to the bottom of the whole China/Japan Sanyo/Panasonic debate. They are now made in China and from my experience using them everyday there is no difference.

    • Someone do FEEL better if they see "made-in-Japan" printed (even they are Chinese-made batteries actually)

      • +1

Well, my understanding is that the testing carried out by enthusiasts indicates the Made in China ones have lower life regards number of useful charge/recharge cycles.

        • but most normal eneloop consumer would never feel any diffence regardless of the countries of origin.

Problem is, most of us on here aren't just 'normal eneloop consumers'!

@jva: but most normal eneloop consumer would never feel any diffence

They can be used for non-cigar shaped items as well

          @cornbeef:
I suppose that depends what lips you're smoking them with!

        • @Snoop: boom tish!

    • excuse my lack of knowledge, but from what i have read (and heard from users), the japanese manufacture ones do have a better performance. nothing to do with china vs japan. we just want the same good performance.

as we all know, chinese are equally able to produce good quality. look at xiaomi and their ever popular line of products.

    • Not going to comment on the performance, since tests/debates were already conducted on the WWW.

I opened a new packet that I've bought (yes, made in China) from Dickies. The supposedly "pre-charged/ready" batteries were flat (4 out of the 8). It ha made a difference in my experience.

      • Flat or only 3/4 charged? If the former that suggests poor quality control from Panasonic

        • Dead flat… the others are 3/4.

  • Who would buy an overnight charger? Buy a decent charger like a Maha and have your batteries treated right and charged in next to no time. Worth every dollar.

    • Me, bought one about 1 year ago.
I make sure the batteries are fully drained before charging, then use the alarm on my mobile phone so I don't go over time.

  • 8x AAA Chocolat are also just $15 which isn't too bad.

  • It's an ~okay~ deal compared to retail, but the usual special is $14.95 for an 8 pack of AA's.

    • What's that got to do with this deal?

  • I've grabbed several eneloop deals and I don't even know where they are. Could be in toys, remotes or somewhere? it's time to grab some more.

    • Haha.

Does this end up costing more than the non rechargeable ones if they can't be located?

      • Not really, since these bastards can last longer than non rechargeable AA/AAA.
When one of the toys/remotes/whatsoever dead, I know that I have at least a pair eneloop in there. Right now I run out of spares, and new toys are on the way :)

  • Loooooopys must resist ……… hmm maybe a few more AAA just in case " it is christmas after all ".

  • I have become Ozbargainer :D

  • OP forgot to put "+ $5.95 postage"

  • Anyone received their item yet??? I bought this charger with batteries and another 8 eneloop batteries, i receieved the 8 batteries but still don't know when i will get this charger.

Without the charger, the 8 batteries i bought are pretty much useless…
