Seiki 65" 4K UHD LED TV - SE65KS001AU - $1099 / $1148 Delivered @ Dick Smith

101

This seems like a deal for a barebones 3840 x 2160 100Hz 4K LED tv without smart functionality

I personally think 4K is wasted on anything smaller then a 60", and 65" is starting to unleash the clarity you want when paying for these extra pixels.

There are no reviews on this exact model, but if build and image quality is of any concern, it appears to be similar to the SE65UY04 found on Amazon, but 100Hz vs 120Hz.

There is also little to suggest Seiki has another lineup besides this one, consisting of 39", 50", 55" and 65", making it more likely that the refresh rate is the only difference.

Component & HDMI Support: 480i, 576i, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 4K2K 30Hz (Only HDMI)

  • Any comments on picture and audio quality?

Got to love the list on the specs page, this tv has just no's to everything. Good work guys!?
Anyone seen one of these or better even, have one and like to spread some knowledge about it?

    60hz though?

i mean if its 24hz or 30hz at uhd then whats the point

  • Component & HDMI Support: 480i, 576i, 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p
    VGA: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1360x768, 1920x1080

does that mean it can't accept a 4k res input?

It doesn't look like it has any built in applications or even a tuner. The only 4k you'll see with this monitor will be upscaled.
Which is of course a deal breaker.

    • LOL now that's funny

if this is off DSE's page then dont take any of that seriously as DSE just copy pasta wrong details all the time

problem with these things is that Seiki's page doesnt have this model and really, a full spec sheet and a manual would be nice

    • I expect it should accept 2160p@30Hz input at least otherwise it would make no sense to call it a 4K TV.

  • Where's TRENT86….. waiting for him to post some good deal on Seiki 55 inch FHD.

Hard to believe a 65" 4K at this price even for a non-mainstream brand.

I was listening to a Us technology podcast a few days ago, talking about cheap UHD TV's. Some show movement so poor that they are only good for still images.
They were talking about Black Friday deals and how some things are not a deal as although cheap, the quality is so bad you shouldn't buy.

    • Yeah, I have a non-4K 65" FHD Seiki and motion is not great compared to an old very smooth 58" 3D Samsung plasma though it can be hard to describe the difference/quality even viewed side by side - motion blur, smoothness, etc.

Picture quality could/should be less problematic where the source is native resolution 1080p or 2160p with no/minimal upscaling requirements.

dont be shill like all the retailers and say 120hz 4k if its 30hz@4k

  • Can I use this TV as a regular computer monitor since it is UHD/4k? I do not want to buy a 4k capable video card just yet. I have been using a generic 42" HD LCD TV as a monitor for 3 years with generic HDMI cable and cheap GeForce 210 video card. This deal is very tempting.
