Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 $26.25 @ Myer (Instore Only)

780

I saw this in a clearance bin marked with (already discounted) price of $105 with additional 50% off so was expecting to pay $52.50 (would've still been a bargain, static ice shows next cheapest at $77 http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=solar+k750&…) but it scanned at $26.25… sweet.

I assume this is a nationwide clearance item, there was 1 left at Marion Myer after buying mine. Price on website remains at $105, so instore special only by the looks.

Keyboard has great reviews online and 3 years Logitech warranty as marked on the box.

  • Nice find!

  • Lol that manikin type thing in the background looks weird haha! Nice find OP!!

    • how rude

    • Is the manikin male or female ?

    • +15

I asked the shop attendant to take a photo of me with the bargain in my new silver gimp suit and this is the sort of offensive comment I get? I look like a weird manikin? Way to make me self conscious for any future outings!

      • Looks like some sort of futuristic customer service cyborg. Don't piss it off or it will neutralize you with its electromagnetic brain waves.

    • I think it just needs lights.

    • it can be powered by any light, from indoor lightings, lamp etc.

        • To make your fingers glow.

        • +8

          then whats the point?

What's the point of not needing batteries? Oh I'm sorry, we didn't realise you invented a perpetual energy machine in secret.

    • +1

I think it charges even under room lighting. I used one for a year it's always on 100% charge.
      $26 is a great bargain.

        perpetual energy? :O

Some people compute in well lit rooms rather than their mother's basement, but reportedly this will even charge from indoor lighting so you may still be ok.

Apparently a 2 hour charge results in months of battery life so putting it in the window a few times a year doesn't seem like a big deal if needed.

      • I've had one for a couple years and it works great just charging off a desk lamp. I've never had any issues with it going flat or not working so I haven't had to put it out in the sun.

Because it doesn't have batteries that need changing it's super thin on your desk. So for this price it's a great deal considering what I paid.

It's equivalent to a pocket calculator with a solar cell on it.

It needs exposure to around 200 lumens of light for a few hours each month. A 60W incandescent or 15W fluorescent puts out about 800 lumens of light. If it's sitting on a desk in average office, with dozens upon dozens of ceiling lights that are on for 8 hours of the day, there's no way this thing is losing charge.

    • When fully charged it is supposed to work for 3 months in complete darkness.

      • i've had this keyboard for 4 years now and never had to change the battery. still working fine with just reflected sunlight into the room (no direct sunlight)

    • I guess it must be hard for some to simply draw the curtains when they live in their mother's unlit basement.

  • I use mine inside an office that has no windows. No sunlight at all. It just works. I've never once had to place it in sunlight to charge it.

Great price for a great keyboard.

It may be called Solar, but it does work off any light source.

Is this the end of eneloop currencies ?

    • No because you need batteries to stay the energy you produce.

  • Thanks just bought the last one in Myer Parramatta

  • +2

    None in Myer Sydney City.

  • This is by far the best keyboard eva……

    • Really ?

      • For me, yes

  • Thanks for sharing! Power walked on lunch break to Myer SA City and think I got last one.
Was opened with a bit of dust etc. Probably ex display model however still had plastic seal on it so I'm happy for the price!

Will be replacing my crummy work keyboard

Central Coast Erina Store, no stock or doesn't stock them… Their computer/tv area is tiny and sparse.

    Awesome price.
I have the K760 where instead of having a keypad and unifying receiver you get three Bluetooth radios for quick swapping between devices. It's never been flat, or unresponsive.

  • Don't need a new keyboard but gotta say this is quite tempting…

  • Thanks OP! got the last one at Castle Hill, Sydney.

  • I got the last one at Colonnades, SA. Cheers OP!

  • Bought one a few years ago! Best keyboard..highly recommend it.

I've had 2 of these over the years.
The piano black finish becomes grubby very quickly. Difficult to clean. When I cleaned my first one, one of the keys came off as the tiny bracket broke off. Would never stay on - tried a tiny amount of glue and that stuffed the KB up well and truely.
Still using the second one - currently typing on it. I think Logitech replaced this model with the K750R which has a matt finish.

  • Please note that the rechargeable battery is self-contained and is a real pain to replace your self.

I bought one a while back, but the battery was worn out at 6 months already and by the time 12 months passed it was completely unable to contain any charge - in other words useless.

It is indeed nice to have a self charging keyboard, but please keep in mind that it requires a substantial light source (like direct sunlight) if you want to charge it at all. It was said that this keyboard could go months without recharging (at least when i bought it) and that turned out to be a load of bull. I got 2-3 weeks max after a full charge.

An ideal circumstance for this keyboard would be to have this as a media center control in a well lit living room, or for your office if it gets direct sunlight.

    • I've been using this keyboard for over half a decade now and will keep buying this as long as they keep making it! stealthpaw I had a similar problem to yours in that initially the keyboard worked fine and then after about a month in a low light room, the battery discharged and the unit wouldn't work again. Logitech customer service was great, and they gave me a full refund (I was just within the first year of warranty). I then went out and bought a second unit which hasn't had any problems. I wouldn't recommend trying to replace the rechargeable battery yourself though.

Great deal. Just got what seems to be the last one from Brisbane CDB.
Somebody tried to hide it behind non-sale stuff, but didn't succeed.

Got the last 2 from Highpoint VIC for the TVs.
But got home and read on a forum that these are not compatible with smart TVs.
    Good find though.

  • Thanks heaps! Got the last one in Myer Top Ryde

  • None in Myer Macquarie Centre.

  • Great deal but I couldn't see any in Myer Perth City. Was in a rush so didn't have a good look. I looked where I saw them last in a wire box like the picture with other crap they were trying to flog off.

  • Robina Myer has a couple of these in a bargain bin $100 marked down from $110.

    Worst Myer ever.

One left at Myer Townsville underneath the rack to the right of the rack with the iPads. Ticketed $105 but scans at the lower price.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one from Belconnen Myer, don't really need a keyboard but…..

  • Loving the keyboard, nice soft chiclet feel similar to high end laptop keyboards.

  • Just picked up the last one from Geelong Westfield.

  • i have one from when Logitech had their own sale. bought it for $35, but only colour left was white body and lime green bar where the solar panels were…its actually a decent keyboard, i leave it on my work desk and it recharges all day and all night….its also so thin…..getting it in black would indeed be a good find
