    It converts the computer's concept of sound to something that you can plug your headphones into. All motherboards come with one built in but they are usually not of sufficient quality to satisfy audiophiles.

  This DAC isn't well rated in the audiophile community. Better off adding $200 more and getting the NAD M51 DAC instead.
