OzBargain Exclusive (NYE Freebie): 25GB (FB Like) or 150GB (Tweet) VPN for a Year +More @ VPN.sh

1510

As suggested by easternculture VPN.sh should give ozbargainers an exclusive free NYE VPN offer and that’s exactly what they have offered today. I have been working with VPN.sh to provide ozbargainers this exclusive offer. As many of you ozbargainers know VPN.sh has been posted quite a few times on ozbargain with feedback later on ranging from slow support ticket replies to most of the servers being down. This is VPN.sh way of restoring faith to ozbargainers and to show that they have dramatically improved since then.

Description of freebie:
VPN.sh are offering an OzBargain exclusive (that's right, not available anywhere else!) this New Year. Grab yourself a FREE VPN for 12 months, by simply liking their Facebook page or completing a Tweet on Twitter.

Liking their Facebook page entitles you to a 25GB/year VPN, and Tweeting them on Twitter entitles you to a 150GB/year VPN. Both of these actions need to be completed through the links here in order to get your order verified. Only one of each free VPN is available for each user, and anybody attempting to order more will have their orders cancelled.

Like their Facebook page for a 25GB/year VPN, follow this link: https://gleam.io/NVfRO/ozbargain-exclusive-25gbyear-account
Tweet about their latest offer for a 150GB/year VPN, follows this link: https://gleam.io/yC7XH/ozbargain-exclusive-150gbyear-account

Happy New Year!

Note:
Anybody who has previously ordered the 250GB Christmas offer can also get these free VPN's, and have their original bandwidth double by opening a support ticket in the VPN.sh client panel.

These VPN's are free for the first year, and after that you can choose to renew at £1/year, or just let them expire.

UPDATE #1 [FIXED]:
VPN.sh are waiting on their ordering server to be upgraded, in the mean time it may take a few attempts to get this offer but just try a couple of times and it'll eventually go through.

UPDATE #2:
There will be delays in the activation of the VPN until the load on their servers goes down. All VPN accounts will be activated by the New Year

UPDATE #3:
2 new Australian locations have been added

    • Good question.

I was getting about 25% speed loss from overheads with PIA.. Only getting about 10% loss via VPN.sh on NZ servers. Still haven't tried AUS server yet…. I'm not 100% sure how our laws apply with this service.

      • That's great to hear. Would any other locations fairly close to Australia be of interest to you? We're trying to add more locations around this part of the world, however bandwidth is expensive and can make location selections difficult. Always good to hear that things are performing well though!

        • TBH, no idea. Apart from NZ, i'm not sure what country would have the infrastructure / bandwidth to support lower latency… what about South Korea or Hong Kong? I haven't really needed to try other locations apart from NZ.. it's the closest and has performed admirably so far.

        • @sumkp:

Hopefully we can add Hong Kong in early 2015, there seems to be some demand, so this is definitely something we'll be considering.

  • Torrent?

    • This isn't something we encourage and is against our TOS.

      • +1

Is all torrenting against your TOS, or just copyright infringement?

        • +2

Legal torrents (such as Linux ISO's) are fine. We'd prefer that users do this whilst not connected to their VPN connection though.

Illegal torrents are a big "no no" and it's completely unfair for all involved - us as a provider having to deal with others being selfless, as well as our clients suffering from servers having to go down, become slower, changing IP's etc.

If anybody wants to torrent illegally, we recommend looking for another provider or using a seedbox.

Please be considerate with our service, we're offering free VPN's exclusively for this community out of generosity.

        • @VPN sh Liam: how will you know that the torrent is illegal?

        • @stockastics:

We keep an eye on our IP's on popular movies and shows. If we spot an IP being used or receive an abuse notification then we investigate to see what's occurred.

It's worth noting that if large amounts of issues occur, we'll throttle the entire node until issues calm down.

We appreciate users being considerate of others. If you fancy downloading illegal files then look elsewhere - it can be done easier using other methods and simply annoys all of the other innocent users of our service.

  • What if we just signed up to one of your other offers recently? I've been with VPN.sh for a year now, and just re-joined using another promo which doens't seem anywhere as good as this one!

    • Please take a look at the bottom of the original post for this deal. You can grab one of these as well as having the bandwidth on your paid service doubled. Just open a support ticket in our client area and we'll get this done for you.

  • Can you use this from countries that block Google and Facebook? Provided is the phone supports it?

  • Ping times seem to jitter a bit ontop of my internet connection.
Speed and ping on overseas servers is terrible, guessing due to bad routing or some similar problem. This serves to be a problem considering it seems the Australian server has been #OzBargained (laggs majorly), though the NZ server gets the job done.

    None-the-less, freebie, can't complain!

    • Our Australian server has been giving some issues over the past week or so. Our provider is aware and are doing what they can to get things fixed.

In the meantime, I'll likely setup a second Australia server over the next couple of days to combat this issue.

Please be aware that we've had a lot of orders from OzBargain, and so the Australia and New Zealand nodes may be slightly clogged for the next couple of days whilst everybody runs around doing speedtests etc.

Considering this freebie lasts a year though, I'm sure you'll all see great speed for the price (heh :P) over the next few days once the nodes quiet down a little.

      Cheers,
      Liam

      • Will the second Australian server be staying or just a temporary extra server to combat the issues with the primary Australian server?

        • It'll stay :)

        • @VPN sh Liam: YES! Another Australian server! :)

        • @triviums:

Which location would you guys prefer (anybody reading this, please do comment - it's you guys who will effectively see these changes implemented): Sydney or Adelaide?

          Cheers,
          Liam

        • @VPN sh Liam:

          Definitely Sydney

        • @VPN sh Liam:
Where is the other server currently?
I'd do one opposite to it and label the two differently

        • +1

@VPN sh Liam: Sydney please ! Thanks for the great service

        • @roshanrbb:

Ok, so rather than adding just one of either Sydney or Adelaide, we've decided to add both! They'll both be online and ready in a few hours. Details on how to access these will be available within our knowledgebase (http://vpn.sh/clients/knowledgebase.php), and we'll be updating our OpenVPN ZIP file from the downloads section - so make sure you grab the latest files!

      • anymore Asian server? like south korea, japan, hongkong, singapore?

    • +1

Australian servers are now working perfectly, getting a steady +2-4 ping over my usual ping, I'm impressed!
(usually ping times to Sydney servers are ~68/69 for me, they're now 71-73ms)

  • Will this help me get thru my work firewall for gaming? LOL

  • How does this work? Can somebody explain? Just need some help with it.

    • do you mean, how does a VPN work or how do I use this service or something else?

  • Being spammed constantly by them now about unpaid invoice.. guess what the invoice is $0…. oh and i cant even pay it cause the site doesn't work..
    So not worth the hassle…

    • This is being sorted right now. You will receive your activation email shortly.

  • The idea of the sample is only to pander for money.
No Android app?.go for the uncharged alternatives.

    • Just use one of the Openvpn apps on the play store, they work fine for me :)

    • As triviums has mentioned, you can use the OpenVPN app. Alternatively, you can use the built in PPTP and L2TP features from within Android's settings.

  • Dear XXXX,

This is a notification that your service has now been suspended. The details of this suspension are below:

    Product/Service: VPN 150GB/year OzBargain - VAT Inclusive
    Amount: £1.00GBP
    Due Date: 30/12/2014
    Suspension Reason: Overdue on Payment

Please contact us as soon as possible to get your service reactivated.

    :(

    • Please check your email for the order ID, and let me know the ID here and I'll get this looked into.

  • Erm, another noob question. I've already got Getflix, does it essentially do the same thing?

    • Sort of, Getflix just reroutes the information needed to make you look like you are in the USA, UK, etc., but it does not provide any type of security. A VPN reroutes all the information, this in most cases means slower internet speeds since more is being rerouted to the USA, UK, etc.

If you speeds is a priority go with Getflix, but
if security is a priority then use a VPN

Also, with getflix you can only use the supported websites while with a VPN all websites are supported

  • Thanks triviums, very helpful :)

  • What is everyone experience so far?

    • +1

Tried to use this freebie for the first time a couple of days ago and password didn't work. I've used VPN.sh previously so I know my config is all good.

Submitted a ticket for them to reset. It's been 5 days and still awaiting a response.

    • AMAZINGGGGGG!!!

This is a speedtest result I have while connected to one of their Australian servers:
      http://www.speedtest.net/result/4144022539.png

    • Submitted a second ticket and finally got a response. Looks as though they changed my login credentials by adding a '1' to my email address.

Australian servers seems good however I'm having trouble connecting to ALL the US servers! Not great.

      Anyone else experiencing something similar?

      • All US servers worked for me, except for the one located in New Jersey…
