OzBargain Exclusive (NYE Freebie): 25GB (FB Like) or 150GB (Tweet) VPN for a Year +More @ VPN.sh

1510

As suggested by easternculture VPN.sh should give ozbargainers an exclusive free NYE VPN offer and that’s exactly what they have offered today. I have been working with VPN.sh to provide ozbargainers this exclusive offer. As many of you ozbargainers know VPN.sh has been posted quite a few times on ozbargain with feedback later on ranging from slow support ticket replies to most of the servers being down. This is VPN.sh way of restoring faith to ozbargainers and to show that they have dramatically improved since then.

Description of freebie:
VPN.sh are offering an OzBargain exclusive (that's right, not available anywhere else!) this New Year. Grab yourself a FREE VPN for 12 months, by simply liking their Facebook page or completing a Tweet on Twitter.

Liking their Facebook page entitles you to a 25GB/year VPN, and Tweeting them on Twitter entitles you to a 150GB/year VPN. Both of these actions need to be completed through the links here in order to get your order verified. Only one of each free VPN is available for each user, and anybody attempting to order more will have their orders cancelled.

Like their Facebook page for a 25GB/year VPN, follow this link: https://gleam.io/NVfRO/ozbargain-exclusive-25gbyear-account
Tweet about their latest offer for a 150GB/year VPN, follows this link: https://gleam.io/yC7XH/ozbargain-exclusive-150gbyear-account

Happy New Year!

Note:
Anybody who has previously ordered the 250GB Christmas offer can also get these free VPN's, and have their original bandwidth double by opening a support ticket in the VPN.sh client panel.

These VPN's are free for the first year, and after that you can choose to renew at £1/year, or just let them expire.

UPDATE #1 [FIXED]:
VPN.sh are waiting on their ordering server to be upgraded, in the mean time it may take a few attempts to get this offer but just try a couple of times and it'll eventually go through.

UPDATE #2:
There will be delays in the activation of the VPN until the load on their servers goes down. All VPN accounts will be activated by the New Year

UPDATE #3:
2 new Australian locations have been added

I'm getting no data received after hitting continue.

    • +1

I will bring that up with liam right now

      • +1

        "Critical Error
Could not connect to the database"

        &

        "No data received"

        Oh WHMCS…

        • Yes that happened to me as well, still waiting for a response to my questions about the errors, but I was able to fix it myself. Are you an existing customer?

        • @triviums: Despite the errors it generated an invoice and created an account… lol

    • Ok, I fixed the problem myself. What I did was turn off my adblocker and it worked. If you don't have an adblocker I will get you some help once I get a response back from liam.

      • I have adblocker but I got there in the end, had to do a fair bit of refreshing but all good. Thanks

  • Cart times out…

    • Finally got it to finish! refreshing.. I think it gave me 2 services though…

      • Good, if it gave you 2 services one will get cancelled…

        • It created 2 invoices, no service yet and can't pay the invoices.

I'd suggest hosting WHMCS on NGINX on a separate server.

        • +1

@buzzlight9: if you got an invoice and order confirmation then it worked. You will receive another email soon with the subject title: VPN Activation

        • @triviums:

I got the invoice and order confirmation emails about 40 minutes ago but haven't got the VPN Activation email yet

        • +1

          @Matt88:

This will come through at some point before the New Year. We're holding off until our server is upgraded to accept orders to prevent further issues for others trying to get hold of our free VPN offer :)

  • Critical Error
Could not connect to the database

    • +2

Cannot apply currency format to 0. Unknown currency format details for currency type.

      Guessing its a new service?

      • Yep, I tried disabling ad-blocker but now its simply saying webpage unavailable. Refreshed 5-6 times, finally showed up with checkout but wouldn't let me complete checkout either - back to the webpage unavailable message

EDIT: Got it working but it applied twice.. hope I don't lose it for that

      • Me too

  • +3

The sign up process is not filling me with confidence. Luckily it is free!

    • +1

Yeah, I only got excited and jumped because I mis-read what it actually was :| thought it was 'VPS' not VPN :)

      • Similar, but I thought it said VPL.

  • +3

Please be patient guys, we'll try and get the issues with the order page sorted ASAP. It's struggling due to a large number of visitors at the moment.

  • had to refresh a couple of times but seems to have worked

    • so I got the activation email but when I try to set up a VPN it doesn't connect, so I need to wait a bit longer or is something wrong?

      • Please open a ticket in our client area and we'll look into this for you. Most likely an authentication error - ensure you're using the details from the My Services section of our client area.

All servers up and running from our end.

        • I created a ticket on the 31st just after your message above but have had no response to date (ticket #194625)

        • @davidf:

This has now been responded to. Anybody else with active tickets shall get responses shortly.

  • Cannot apply currency format to 0. Unknown currency format details for currency type…also

    • Apologies for this. We're just waiting on our provider to up our server resources to cope with the demand. Please try again a couple of times as others have and you should manage to get an order processed!

      • All good now. Thanks for the fast response!

        • Glad to hear it. We'll get all of these VPN accounts activated later on in the day once the load on our server goes down a little. Accepting all of the accounts as they come in will just make it harder for others to actually get their order placed!

Hold on tight guys, your free VPN will be ready in time for the New Year!

  • +1

Like others, took a few goes to it. Thanks

    • For a freebie, we'll keep on trying!

      • The server is coping much better at the moment :). Orders should start going through without issue now.

  • Until I see proof their service has improved, they won't be getting me back.

    • +2

Personally, I couldn't care much about the signup, it's free and it's worth a try. The proof will be the speeds received - if it's kosher, they'll have a new client in me.

      • Was with them for a year and when you actually rely on a VPN service and it keeps failing, you start to go bald. Good luck with them, I will jump back on after 3 months + up time on their servers.

        • We're back on track now. Feel free to keep an eye on us over the next few months and I'm confident that you'll see that the service is up to the standard that you'd expect!

  • I think the transaction went through before I got the cannot connect to site error, now my account says I've got an unpaid invoice for 0.00 GBP though whenever I go to pay I get taken to an invoice page.

    • +2

A few people have these "unpaid invoice" orders. Anybody with these should just ignore it, and we'll get your order setup properly at some point before the New Year. Just hold on tight and we'll get it all sorted for you as soon as we can!

      • Just received my third and final payment overdue email for 0.00, which says my accounts going to be suspended even though I have another active service with vpn.sh as well.

        • Ignore these, those who ordered within the first hour or two of this going up on OzBargain may have received these overdue notices - all will be solved today, I'm fixing it right now.

    • I also get this, any help would be much appreciated.

      • +1

Please see my comment above :). Just ignore the "unpaid invoice" section, and hold on tight. We'll get all of this sorted shortly.

Rep, I'd be interested in VPN.sh's answers to the questions on this torrentfreak article http://torrentfreak.com/which-vpn-services-take-your-anonymi… (in particular regarding logs).

    • +1

      well thats brazen…

      • +1

        you know me so well!

    • Hmm. No response. VPN sh Liam should I assume VPN.sh isn't prepared to answer or did you just miss the question?

      • I found this response on their Facebook page from April 25th 2013

We don't log any of the customers connections and don't share any of the details with 3rd parties. We don't promote using our services for piracy but what you do on the internet is your own business. ~ CT

and this response posted on lowendtalk in July 2013

we log users total bandwidth, as our packages are bandwidth-limited. We also have temporary logs on connection sessions in order to aid with troubleshooting. These logs only include the time connected, the period of time connected, and the bandwidth usage in that session. These logs are deleted on a regular basis and no access logs are kept.

I don't know if this has changed or not…

        • The first response is from a former employee at VPN.sh who no longer works with us. The second response is accurate.

I'll provide a full response to brazen00 later on today.

  • sorry noob question..what's VPN good for? To hide from online anti-piracy predator?

    • +5

I use VPN's because I am broke lol. I go to macca's and just use their wifi :) It is unsafe to use facebook, paypal, etc. on public wifi (Macca's wifi) since it is so easy to hack into someones account. VPNs stop that from happening.

      • you buy something from maccas or just sit there?

    • +6

It's an encrypted link between your computer, and a server in another country. It stops anyone reading, or tampering with, the traffic between you and the server in that country; and it makes it look to the foreign website that you're not in Australia.

      • Want to use online banking/Facebook etc. over a public wifi service without the risk of shenanigans in between you and the website (MITM attacks), use this.
      • Want to read your email or surf the web without ASIO/AFP/Centrelink grabbing the details "just in case it's important later on", use this.
      • Want to sign up for Netflix/Hulu streaming TV in the US, and get a reasonable selection at a reasonable price (rather than a shitty selection at a specially marked up "Aussie price"), use this.
      • Have the AFP accidentally blocked a couple of thousand legitimate websites because one of the sites hosted on that IP used a very naughty word about a politician, again? Use this to get around it.
      • Have ASIC blocked 250,000 legitimate websites because they don't really know what they're doing, either? Use this to get around it.
      • +2

I'm sold! Let's get behind the "wall" ;)

  • +3

Seriously, this checkout sucks. Should we be re-tweeting that it's normal to try to purchase this multiple times because your servers can't handle the load?

    • I have three in my cart and whenever I remove one it keeps failing. I give up!

  • "Database Error
One or more of the WHMCS database tables appear to be either missing or corrupted. Please check and repair."
    has been received.

  • check out sucks, it didn't complete, later when i tried to login, critical error

  • Can I get both 150GB and 25GB from my tweeter and FB a/c?

    • You can indeed :)

      • Thanks Rep. May I know the use of it. Anyway, I have got it FREE, but don't know the worth of it??? Thanks…

      • -1

Can I repeat to get more? As it is being added more than one and still there is no amount to pay.

  • +1

Guys, you have to keep on refreshing until it is successful, I have done 20 times and it is successful. So, be patient to get something FREE :)

  • +1

Just signed up. thanks… it took numerous attempts but got there in the end

  • Great stuff, I got it in 2 tries, but honestly, no idea what I can use it for. Can I use it for watching Netflix and the likes in the US?

    • +3

This is what I use my VPN for:

      • Netflix
      • EpixHD
      • Security on public wifi
      • Stop my metadata from being kept by internet providers (New laws are forcing internet providers to keep metadata for 2 years). Also, In Australia there is no data breach notification scheme so, if your data is hacked your internet or phone company does not have to tell you about it.
      • getflix is way better

        • +2

Only for Hulu, Netflix and any other video streaming services. Getflix does not provide as much security as a VPN, since it only reroutes the information that is needed, all other information gets passed around as normal.

  • Damn, I just paid 1 pound for a renewal last week.

  • +1

great freebie. took a few refreshes, but worked at the end.

    thanks vpn.sh

  • Dear Rep,

Will my PayPal or Credit Card be automatically deducted in 12 months when the free period expires?

    • +1

Hi there, no you will not automatically be charged. You either manually make the payment if you wish to continue the service, or just ignore the invoice without making payment if you do not wish to continue the service

  • Had to refresh for ages but got it in the end. Thanks

  • +1

Just signed up - went through no errors or refreshes - got 4 emails including $0 payment confirmation email.

  • Just wondering can I use it for online Multiplayer gaming where open ports are needed ?

    • We don't provide specific port opening with VPN.sh, however we do over at our dedicated IP brand - http://fixedroute.com

For 70% off at checkout on FixedRoute, use promo code: FR70

      • Could you provide a speedtest option on those dedicated ip as well as the vpns?

  • Rep, how come the name/address/phone number fields are mandatory - doesn't having that info (as opposed to just a valid username/password) increase privacy risk ?

    • Hi there, phone number is not mandatory. We need to collect billing address details due to EU laws, and even more so due to the recent VAT changes over here which require us to charge VAT on all EU-based orders - meaning that we must ensure clients do not get charged VAT unless they are in the EU.

Hope this clarifies. I can assure you that we take your privacy with a professional attitude.

      • Do we have to use real name and address - as long as we provide the correct country?

        • +1

We request that you provide legitimate information at the time of ordering. If you wish to change your details afterwards, from the "My Details" section of our client area, then you're more than welcome to.

        • +10

We request that you provide legitimate information at the time of ordering

My order went through without any errors. Thanks OP and Liam.

  • +1

noob question, is there a client i download or how to use it?

    • +1

Good question. I asked that myself, but I think this shows that I don't need a client? http://vpn.sh/howto-mac.html

      • thanks for that

  • So where is the server of this VPN provider?

  • Sorry for noobie question again, now that i signed up. How do I actually establish a VPN connection?

    • +2

Well for one the rep has already said that the service won't be activated immediately… So you can't use it yet…. However… There are easy to follow instructions on their website: https://www.vpn.sh/howto.html

There's also a video version too on their website.

      • Thanks..guess I'm too eager to escape the prying eyes of the authority ..

        • If you want to escape the prying eyes of the authority, like me ;) I suggest you connect to VPN.sh through openvpn (Highest level of encryption).

  • +1

Thanks for this; managed to get the account, just waiting for the status to get activated now :)

  • +1

+1 for this. I've been using VPN.sh and get very good speeds compared to PIA. I would highly recommend for the jack all cost.

    • Glad to hear this is performing well for you :)

  • Am I able to get this even though I already have the same plan (150gb) on my account?

    • Yes, you can :)

  • How does the speed of this compare to unotelly and unblock us etc?
