            I think we'll see increasingly high discounting on just about everything close to Xmas and in both January & February when it's traditionally dead.

            I expect that during the course, and towards the end, of next year that Chinese & other Asian & world trade protagonists will move away from the US$ and into a nominal International Credit Unit (ICU) based on a basket of currencies.

            Once unhooked from the US$, prices will probably be a bit skittish for a while, as they find their level, before calming & stabilising.

      If your ATM card is a VISA Debit, that will do as well.
      Add it as your alternative payment method.
      Paypal will then draw cash from you bank account as usual, but the transaction will be approved immediately.
      (ie. Your VISA card just acts as your back-up payment method, in case your bank account has insufficient funds. Paypal will not use it as long as you have sufficient funds in your bank acc.)

      Just checked OrangeIT website. The $399 is for EEEPC 900HA. This one is 1000HE.

    fantastic price. I bought mine earlier for $630 with COTH 2 mths ago. The machine is pretty decent. Good enough for general use. But if you're plugging an external hard disk be sure to have the power adapter plugged in or chances are your machine will turn off automatically.

      Same here. My 1000HE turned off when I plugged in 2 external HDDs at the same time. However it's still a fantastic netbook for a fantastic price. The chiklet keyboard is worth its weight in gold.

    Well I bought one. total net price'll be $413.95 including delivery.

    I dunno 100% whether this'll be a good deal, but the timing was very good. 1st time purchasing a netbook.

    My old laptop battery is nearly dead, and the manufacturer wanted $200 for a replacement. So i though might as well get a new more portable one for an extra $200.

    Maybe there'll be better deals in the future…when is that NOT the case?

    Just buy when you need it…and I need it now.

    I wonder if this can handle 720p video. Doesn't have to, xvid avi's would satisfy me…but it'd be great if it could.

      Most reviewers seem to say that there isn't much difference (if any) between N270 and N280. So performance wise, they should be very much similar.

      I checked it's not eligible for a free upgrade. if it came with vista, then we'd have gotten it.

      I'm not sure about Win 7 on this. On the one hand, it's supposed to use lower resources and run quicker on less powerful computers, than vista, but it's also graphically intensive isn't it?

      So i'd assume the bottleneck for running win7 is going to be the crappy on board integrated graphics chipset.

      I think this BABY was made for Windows7.
      Am using Windows7 Professional on mine, and mate, this is the best you can get.

      Make sure to upgrade RAM to 2GB so you can get the AERO effects.

      Installation took about 30-40mins from a usb stick, Most drivers were installed by Win7 except Bluetooth, download it from Asus site.

      on my lenovo s10, getting about the same battery life as before on XP (about 5-6hours)

      win7 is definitely faster than xp on netbooks, and AERO works with 1GB RAM just fine. Aero works fine even when i hook my s10 to a 1080P display, so the GMA945 chipset isnt as shabby as some ppl think.

      I installed using an external optical drive, dont know how to use other methods.
