    it's a pen..

An iPhone is just a phone
A Mercedes is just a car
A Moet is just a drink
      Pandora is just a charm

Sometimes people like the nicer things that will last a bit better. In some lines of work it also proves professionalism. And when we're talking not much more than 'just a pen', that works every time, its a relatively small outlay for something nice.

'Splashed' out (like $15 lol) on a Parker Rollerball 6 months ago and love it, a very dependable pen, works every time :)

      …that works.

There we go. Fixed that for you buddy.

We got a group present for one of my friends… It was a $200 pen (not my idea) which we haven't heard about since lol. We could have gotten him something useful like a watch or something.

I tried out the pen and there was nothing special about it at all, it still wrote like a $5 pen from Officeworks. The pen itself was a bit heavier and sturdier but that's about it.

But of course $23 is a lot different to $200 but still a cheaper nice looking pen would do just as well (unless you want to look like a CEO while writing down your notes).

        • again as OP said:

It's the quality and craftsmanship. They last. It looks classy too. Different strokes for different folks.

I think a pen is slightly more useful then a watch, unless it's multifunctional like a T-Touch from Tissot. You can stab someone with a pen! If you must. They have stylus and touch screen multi pen ones now. Then again could knock someone out with a backhander, or backwrister. Most people carry phones and they have not only the time but stopwatch and world clock etc.

What was the retail of the $200 pen? Which one? Waterman?

        • @adamren:

Ok I just went through my messages and it was actually a $345 Porsche Mikado. shrugs I guess people can appreciate different things but I didnt see what all the fuss was about.

I just googled online and it seems like you can get it cheaper online but we got it from a legit pen store so I guess it was more expensive.

@trumpedup: Uck. You're paying through the nose for the brand. They look nice and I'm sure they're high quality materials, but I'm sure they only design them and not make them also.

Cars are nice, but pens, not so much. Could get a same non-NON-pen brand pen for around $100, their price multiple would easily be 3 times.

Never understood why people buy those sorts of things, like watches from a perfume or fashion brand, they don't even make them! Oh well, some people just love brands.

  • Peters of Kensington have Parker pens and pencils for over half price, and even more. Got a pencil for $4!

    • Agreed, but with stock in stores for click & collect @ DJs, it can make a difference if you just want 1 or 2 pens :) (and dont live in NSW for the PoK pickup)

Can I use it on my iPad?

Yes, but it may be a 1 time use :)

Shipping is $5.50. Probably spend that driving to DJs if it's more than 20kms away and back. Plus time.

Most cars today are a $3/km rate. So even if shipping was more it'd still be worth it.

They have heaps of stuff, more than DJs http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Latest-Specials.…

Throw in a US made $60 grater for $15 http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Microplane-Gourm…

House and King of Knives rarely if ever discount Microplanes, they don't need to.

Not the same pen but most likely very similar.
    http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Parker-Urban-Ste… $85 now $17
    http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Parker-Urban-Ste… $70 now $14

Get pen and pencil, so it's even better value.

I got Canadian made Revo wine chiller as a gift $80-$110 for $35 and German made paper $5 from ~$15 or $20.

They have Japanese Global knives for over half price.

Who doesn't need a notepad & pen, grater or knives? Make great gifts anyways. Something for everyone.

Or a torch, put those eneloops to use. http://www.petersofkensington.com.au/Public/Travel-Leisure.a…

Shipping is reasonable, $11 for a bunch of those items.
