Coles Mastercard $0 Annual Fee, 18 Months 0% Balance Transfer

2660

At risk of upsetting the holier than thou: 'I pay my card off every month using bitcoins via cashrewards made of recycled eneloops" crowd…

here's a good deal for scumbags like me who have lived in the moment at some point and bought something without having the pennies in the bank.

Better than any other deal going round in terms of annual fee and length by at least $50 and/or a few months.

In case you were wondering I bought myself drugs and loose women.
Worth it.

        • @frysie:
you still don't get it…. no point telling me. tell the card provider.

if they think you are a credit risk, you have low credit limit. simple fact.

i have had no mortgages, cards and twice your income and savings, and still got 1k limit from a big 4 bank. the difference from you is, i know the reason why they put it so low.

          @slowmo:

I have had a mortgage and I've paid it off without missing a payment. Same goes for my other card with only a6k limit

Got $10k limit and $100k+ salary - definitely check your credit file.

I just got approved for $12K. $83K salary. Only one other CC with $5K limit

  • In the mail today from Westpac offering a 16 month balance transfer up to 95% of the limit of my platinum 55day Visa card.

Perhaps they are spooked by coles.

My balance transfer just went through - damn quick compared to other cards I've dealt with.

  • If i check my creit score does it affect my credit score in a negative way ?

  • I already have had this card from a previous deal posted here for about a year. Has anybody tried calling them up and successfully gotten the balance transfer deal? I only got a $3000 limit so its not that much anyway. Might as well try since I use my citibank one for points instead.

    • Same. I was on the platinum rewards card and yearly fee was soon to be charged so it was now or never.

I tried calling up to cancel my card, expecting offers of "please sir don't go, we love you"… but instead they didn't even want to know the reason, got told to make sure I stopped any automatic payments and cut up my card. no transfers to management or retentions team, nothing. perhaps I went about it the wrong way but no skin off my back really, was planning on cancelling if they didn't refund the annual fee or offer me something good.

I think I am going to apply for a new zero fee card for the 0% BT soon, have been looking around for good BT offers and this one takes the cake, have not seen any offers longer than 6 months without an annual fee attached. I only hope I can get a high enough limit to make all the fuss and credit score worthwhile!

      HTH.

  • So my balance transfer came out of the coles card almost a week ago, but hasn't actually landed on the Citibank card. Shouldn't this be almost instant - ie, out of coles, in the other card the next day.

How long does the BT normally take to hit the destination card?

    • I would think it should take no more than than a week, I am also waiting for the BT to come through, the transaction on the Coles card showed up on Monday.

      • likewise, transaction showed up on coles card monday… no action on the account the balance is coming from.
        hmm.

When I did a Coles BT (this was 10+ months ago) they said it could take a few weeks or even a month, it all depends on the internals of the destination bank and how quickly they process things.

I think in my case they had to do it as an internal-bank-cheque - so it has to be printed out, mailed, received, processed, typed/scanned into bits and bytes, checked for validity, etc. At least that's why I imagine it could take so long.

It's now been 13 days since it came out of Coles - still not in the Citibank card. This is pretty poor. Last time I did a BT, it took about 2 days.

just called by NAB, was told that the BT transaction from Coles card just came through, takes 10 days in my case

@excite: Mine appeared in Citibank today - 14 days after leaving the Coles card.

got a text from Citibank this morning saying payment had been received, applied for the BT on the phone on Tuesday, only took 2 days.

        • That's great. I am still waiting for it to go through. Rang receiving bank and they say they have not received anything. I guess calling in to do a BT is quicker then. Still not happy. 3 weeks and counting. More query/complain here : http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2366073

  • BT to 28 degrees is not possible as I found out in the balance transfer form and CITI is the best option for me.
"You may not request a balance transfer from a credit card issued outside Australia or from a
Coles MasterCard or Coles Platinum MasterCard, or any card issued by GE Money."

  • I don't understand what the bargain is here, aren't the Coles Mastercards always $0 fee?

      "18 Months 0% Balance Transfer"

I applied for one $6k limit on $50k with a mortgage.
