  • Will try tomorrow

    • Please get in early so you don't miss out

  • what is the regular price?

    • +2

I paid around $120 at Bunnings last weekend for 103cm Moretti (Bunnings brand?) "Energy-Saving" model. Similar features to this one.

    • This is a one off deal so this is the regular price.
The only place I can see this available is in New Zealand and it's $129 NZ. I think the Australian and New Zealand Dollars are almost the same atm.

      • +3

After looking at the JBHifi NZ website I was thing to myself that their internet must still be from the 90's. I think I made a website like this in my year 10 computer class using MS Frontpage.

    Don't know much about fans.
But what makes this fan better than the normal pedastal fan?

    • I'm interested about that too. I've only had pedestal fans and the one next to me is shite. $45 doesn't seem like a bad deal, might go suss it out in the morning.

    • I too would like to know this. More energy efficient possibly? More portable most likely… Waiting to hear from someone in the know

      • +2

this should take up minimal space, and maybe quieter?

    • +2

      Safer, less top heavy
      Takes up less room
      More portable
      Not as noisy
Timer can help you save energy

    • -1

I have a similar fan (but perhaps mine is a bit better) and I find it blows cool air even on hot days (when cheap fans will blow hot air, gross). Only slight issue is not being able to adjust the height.

      • +17

Perhaps your "fan" is an airconditioner?

        • -3

you'd think so! too loud for that though

      • +1

        LOL

  • +1

    Remote control
Some models can rotates 360 degree
    Electronic sleep Timer 1- 12hrs
Ionizer function. I have no idea what this does.
    1-8 Speed settings
    Height adjustable.

This model doesnt look like you can adjust the height.

  • Is this the Friday only deal?

    • Not really. But it starts Friday night until sold out

  • +1

There are no stores in North Shore or Sydney CBD

    • I know :-(
Chullora(Bankstown) is probably the closest, 30 or so min drive from the city

  • Looks quite good but I guess it would be a fair bit harder to clean than the traditional style.
    Details are here: http://www.goldair.co.nz/product-catalogue/cooling/tower-fan…

    • You're right, I have one from aldi, there's no way you can clean it.

      • +2

Omg why am I up so late on OzBargain

I always suggest ready the manual when you buy a new product:
 The common cause of overheating is deposits of dust or fluff in the appliance. Ensure these deposits are removed regularly by unplugging the appliance and vacuum cleaning the air vents and grills.
and this is for our NZ friends (jks):
 DO NOT immerse the Fan in water and never allow water to enter the motor housing.

        http://www.goldair.co.nz/media/107825/gctf310.pdf

      • Taken from the manual

        Cleaning
To avoid risk of electric shock, before cleaning, you MUST ALWAYS switch off and unplug the Fan before cleaning.
Use only a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the Fan and dry well.
DO NOT immerse the Fan in water and never allow water to enter the motor housing.
DO NOT use harsh chemicals to clean the Fan.

Sounds like you only clean the exterior.

        • Right but the tube fan inside will get chockas with dust which will look crappy and eventually affect performance. I'm sure they are good, but cleaning a 'normal" fan is just really easy by comparison.
          Just sayin..

        • +1

@King Tightarse: but I said the thing about the vacuum from the manual and then I made the NZ joke that I thought was clever……why do I try?

  • How can this be a bargain, the rrp is over inflated, its normal price should be around $40-50. Paid the same amount for aldi's one, the only pros for the tower fan is that it's compact. As for blowings air dan noise they are not better than pedestal fan.

    • +1

Are you saying at $120 Bunnings are charging almost 3 times the normal price?

      • +1

Seems pretty pricey for a thing which blows air around. Compared to the recent similar "one off"hozelock deal Masters offered this isn't as great. I'd be thinking $29 for an impulse buy if you don't need one, however for someone looking for this sort of product it seems decent value @ 45. E.g: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/137222, $24 only a bit smaller

        • -2

Your link was posted in March, which is towards the end of the fan/air con season.
The current fan is considered a bargain, esp after our 44.4 degree day earlier this week (peak season)!

        • +1

@mmd: Fan prices are seasonal? Just like fruits?

        • +2

          @tg:

          yes

        • -1

          @tg:
Yes, no-one in their right mind would buy an electric heater now cos its too hot.:)

        • @mmd:

Yes, no-one in their right mind would buy an electric heater now cos its too hot.:)

Anyone with half a functioning brain would look for a good price on one now, before it gets cold.

  • What exactly is this late night deal business? I'm new to Masters.

    • -1

Its called the night owl stay up late Friday night special fan deal.

      with remote.

  • +1

This fan is a copy of the below model which was sold through Costco a while back

    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LA1FIHS/ref=twister_B00LZNJFB6?_…

    • yes agree it looks like a "copy" of the seville from costco. B.T.W. Costco (docklands) still has a few seville twin packs (tower and small fan) when I went in last week, not as cheap as before if anyone is interested. Can't recall the exact price but was under $90 for two.

I'm not sure of the quality of the masters one but the costco one was pretty reasonable, I like the seville tower as its difficult for young toddlers to get their fingers into the blades which can happen with the standard fan models.

    • how do you know it's a copy?

  • I would be in at $20

why, a good 50cm pedestal can blow 6-7m and costs $40-50 without discounts

It might be OK for the garage as you could cool most of your body

But blower fans can be noisy on high and chew a lot of juice for
    their output.

  • A normal fan works better guys, I know because I had one of these. If you want something cool and cheap try buying a watercooler or evap

    • Normal fans work better. These certainly look better and more modern but they don't push a lot of air. Mine makes annoying rattling noises, especially when the pivot is turned on

      • +1

When there is a toddler at home, i prefer this for safety reasons.

        • -1

Want a side of cotton wool with that?

        • Depends on the kid…

  • 30 remaining at Hoxton Pk store as@ 11.30 am Sat morning.

  • I'm more of an air circulator kind of person. Vornado. Cools the whole room by making all the air in the room one consistent temp rather than warmest layer near ceiling.

They're not cheap, but they're very good, so it's great value. Saves money actually and helps aircon work better. Use in winter and summer.

    • Cools the whole room by making all the air in the room one consistent temp rather than warmest layer near ceiling.

In summer, I would rather have the warmest layer at the ceiling since I won't be up there. :)

I've got a Vornado too and use it for its directional flow rather than circulation. I can aim it across my living room and still feel it.

Hi guys I work at Masters Keysborough showroom on the weekend. We have quite a few of these left still in my department.

  • Where is the battery for the remote?

    • Have you look inside the remote?
      It a CR2025 battery

      • +1

Ahh thanks.. I looked again inside the box and found it floating around in there. It wasnt inside the remote

        • @Cardz what do you think of the fan overall?

        • +2

          @HunterOfBargains20:

          I definitely wouldn't pay $100 for it.

I am replacing a $7.50 Coles fan so its hard to compare. I like the sleep timer but I dont think I would pay any more than the $45

  • +2

Normal fans definitely work better but there are reasons to buy tower fans as well. I use one in my study room (not this particular model) where there is very limited space. Its a small room so it works good enough and importantly, it takes up very little real estate and looks great as well. Not to mention a normal pedestal fan used to blow my papers everywhere which was a pain !

  • +3

Fan is still in stock at these stores, all stores have more than 10 available:
    ACT: Canberra Airport
NSW: Bathurst, Heatherbrae, Hoxton Park, Rutherford, Taree, Wagga Wagga
QLD: Bundamba, Mackay, Morayfield, Rockhampon, Springfield, Toowoomba, Upper Coomera
    SA: Mt Gambier
VIC: Ballarat, Burnside, Carrum Downs, Dandenong, Keysborough, Mornington, Oakleigh South, Pakenham, Roxborough Park, South Morang, Sunbury
    WA: Baldivis

  • I haven't had a good experience with this fan. Purchased two of them, and one worked fine. The other sounded like a diesel tractor. I returned to Masters to exchange for another one, which the staff member told me has happened quite a bit. Last night this new one started making loud noises too. Will be returning it in the next few days and asking for a refund.

  • :( sold out at Richlands and 2 other stores near me. Anyone know the next best bargain black tower fan? What are the mist ones like?
