Dremel 8200 L-Ion Cordless Multi Tool, $99 at Bunnings, in Store Only

190

Hi guys, I was in Bunnings in Boneo and noticed they had the Dremel 8200 for only $99. The regular price is $150 and RRP more again. This is a great multi tool with 5000-30000 rpm and a small set of changeable heads. I have one and I use it more than my corded Dremel. As a reference the much smaller engraving Dremel was the same price and the corded version was $199. You can do even better with a Masters price match.

  • Cordless dremel? Dunno about that, mines cabled and I wouldn't want it any other way personally, those things need a suitable rotation speed.

They still do 30000rpm, the 'regulars' only doing 5k more. I've had a few moments working on the car in the street where cordless could've been handy

    • It really depends on what you're working with and what you're doing. Plastic, aluminium, iron, steel… cutting, polishing, grinding… cordless ones definitely have their place.

RPM is one thing, torque is another. I remember using a dentist's drill once, when I didn't have my dremel. The torque on that was amazing. No slowdown at all when grinding steel. I suppose it'd better be good, for a few thousand bucks.

I have both a corded and this model and the difference is almost not noticeable.

    • I do too, and I agree. I always reach for the cordless because its so much easier, and there really is no difference in performance.

  • I was considering this

    any thoughts between the 2?

I just bought one of those sonic multi tools, I would go for the dremmel because the cutting sucks on the multi tool.
with a dremmel you have cutting discs etc that work .

If you already own a Dremel 8200 (cordless drill) you can buy the 'bare' 8300 (Oscillating tool plus accessories but no battery) for $39 + shipping (e.g. to Melb is $16.78). While not a great bargain (as the battery alone is $69), it may suit some people.

  • What heads does it come with, seems decent value.

  • In store only lol

  • i was told that this model has been suspended. There was one in stock at nunawading at that was listed for sale for 147.

  • Looks like the 8220 has replaced it at $128 each

    • Where did you see that price?

  • Cordless will be handy.
I once had to hook up a corded one to a generator to use in the middle of a paddock with no power.
Cordless would have saved the day.

      Well rosebud then. Same difference.

  • very good price. i got this from masters last year for over $100. been wanting a dremel for ages (since i was a kid actually) and while i don't use it much, the times i've had to use it i've not been disappointed. so handy for small jobs when you can't have a full set of power tools
