thats OK. I bought one (seagate) from Dickies a few months back for $79 (normal price was $99 so looks like a price increase)

Happens sometimes with Dick! Still a good deal though :)

yep good deal. I have mine plugged into the router so movies backup etc can go straight there. also acts as a media server for the pc and ps3 then

        • Does it power off when not in use?

Bought one for $79 as well, connected to router, but everything copied to it vanished when the router was turned off. Connected normal to computer, no problems.

        • @Make it so:
no idea. it's green so I assume so.

        • @grips:
          never had that problem.

        • @grips: write-caching issue?

        • Does this model allow you to plug into the router? I looked up its product description page and couldnt find any mention of this. Sound like a nice feature though.

Does it allow you to download straight from internet into the hard disk?

        • @gambit_asdf:
I have it plugged into my router. It is not a NAS just an external drive. meaning you dont need your computer on for the TV or PS3 to see the movies on it but if you want to torrent you will need the pc running bit torrent software but the files will be saved on this hard drive (not on your computer).

    • I bought one for $74 delivered 6 months ago. I'll wait for their next cheaper sales.

Bought the Canvio, thanks. (was a little confused between the cabvio 'basic' and the canvio 'simple', but AFAIK the simply is a SATA drive inside, so more flexible to maybe pull out of the case and use elsewhere down the track )

Bloody DSE said code was invalid when I logged in, but accepted it when I logged out again. Typical.
