  • How does the cashrewards work?

    • You signup for cashrewards and then click through to groupon through cashrewards and purchase as normal and the cashback will be tracked within a few business days normally

      • thx strikerzebra. Missed out on the cashrewards when I bought the big w egift card from groupon last week ><

I just saw this "Cashback is currently not payable on Any Woolworths Group Gift Cards purchased through Groupon" so I guess I didn't miss out on anything :)

        • @bkllo00:
That important detail was posted several times in Woolies eGift Card deal.

        • @brucefromaustralia: What about Pricepal? They have cashback for Groupon too. Will it work for Woolies gift cards?

        • @geek001:
That 7.5% off Groupon deal has expired. Often a deal for Woolies eGift Cards.

      • how much of a cashback % wise is given? Is it worth the effort?

        • 5.60% on Cashrewards

Is there anything good there this time?

  • OP: Corrected previous deal, it was listed as "over $39" but was $39 & over. So is this only for over $39? Haven't received email from Groupon yet.

Entered code for $39 deal - accepted (but did not buy)
    Under $39 code is rejected
So seems to work for $39 deals - a common price on Groupon.

OP:Good idea to check coupon before posting deal. Found 1 posted yesterday that did not work at all.
    Title needs to be updated.

    • Pity its deals over $39 and not orders over $39

      • Yes. Usual issue - can't combine multiple deals to $39+ value to get discount. Usually single use coupon per account.

Yep last deal I purchased something for $39 and used the $10 off code and it worked fine along with the cashrewards cashback

Information is based on Groupon website. It states deals over $39. Anyways, thanks! Will update title.

  • It actually works for deals that are $39, not over, I tried it before

  • +1

I just checked you can use the $10 off code to use off a $50 groupon voucher, pay $40 for a $50 groupon voucher

    • Downside is you can't combine with other discount codes as you enter code in same box.

Still 20% off is handy. Would have been nice to pay for the 7.5% off Groupon deal for Woolies eGift Cards.

      • Yes, I used a $10 off gift voucher to purchase the Woolies gift card.

  • Your code did not work this time. Note you need to be logged in to use a code; please log in or register below. Otherwise this code may have already been used, does not meet the minimum voucher price or is invalid.

    I dont know why :(

    • Are you logged in? It should work it's a generic code on the groupon website

CAUTION: if paying by credit or debit card, transaction is made overseas. This may mean a fee on your card. On one card that was over $23 (click on CAUTION - it was for a large value order)! Groupon warns of this in the t&c & says they will refund it.

Last Groupon deal, I found payment by PayPal reset the price without $10 discount. So check total before payment!!

  • thanks works for $39 deal

  • Get the $50 Groupon gift card if you don't know what to buy now but are waiting out for an offer in a few weeks time.

Short expiry on Gift Card: 30/4/15

Groupon hides important details under "More about this deal". Short expiry is listed as the only feature of this deal!

      • +1

Many deals that you can purchase expire before then anyway so I don't think it's too bad.

        • It's just that many wouldn't search for expiry date hidden in deal before buying. Best to know that.

Still leaves 3 months after delivery. I expected 6-12 months on any gift voucher! According to the Checkout, gift cards require 5 year minimum expiry in USA.

Until this week, I haven't bought a Groupon for 3 months.

Downside with Groupon - when good deals go bad…

Just finished a $19 "seafood" buffet with 1 beer - normally $38. Had good Urban Spoon rating at time of purchase.

    Very bad deal.

Promoted full price was much more than I would have paid today. Still a small discount with voucher, but not as attractive as Groupon made out. Watch out for that in all discounted deals.

Deal changed to remove most promised seafood (prawns oysters etc) - after purchase. Bad Groupon :-(

Restaurant shows seafood buffet at entrance, despite major changes to offering - removing the most attractive stuff. There were only a few cold mussels & baby octopus, warm mussels in wine sauce, hot fish soups which had no visible fish, etc. Most food was not fish based. On top of that, beer had no head. (Oh the humanity!)
Hot dishes were not kept within safe temperature range - sitting for over 90 minutes I was there kept barely warm. Bad restaurant :-(

I'm lodging complaint with Groupon to get refund of at least the other voucher I bought, on the basis of:
misrepresentation - that a seafood buffet should be predominantly seafood main dishes,
    deal was changed after purchase,
hot food was of risky quality being barely warm.

And overseas processing of transactions, leading to hefty fees for some.

Try entering another credit card (incorrectly). Should store over old details. Haven't tried it myself.

But after today, I don't think I want to buy from Groupon again :-(

        Paypal is available.

        • You've used it to get this deal discount? Reset to non-discounted price for me. That's a $10 fee to use PayPal :-(

      • +1

Use PayPal. It is much safer and you can always submit a claim to get a refund if you're not happy with them.

    • Wrote review of restaurant on Urbanspoon with title "Avoid!". Other reviews indicate food & quality has nosedived since I bought Groupon deal. From memory their rating was about 85% when I bought deal, now 62%!

      Complained by email to Groupon:
demanded a full refund to PayPal of unused coupon - reply within hours agreeing to that.

Requested part refund for poor meal & lack of promised seafood - escalated my complaint, reply within 7 days. May get some Groupon credit.

A quick refund on a bad deal.

Who says there's no such thing as a free lunch (with a beer)?

        PayPal refund for 2 meals $38 :-)

Complained 6pm AEDT yesterday, refund in PayPal 2pm AEDT next day.

So fast customer service, 1 unused voucher cancelled, used voucher also refunded. So got a not so great but big lunch with 1 beer free.

  • +1 for the coupon name. STRAYA__F YEAH

  • Just used STRAYAMATE for the $50 Groupon gift card… cool!

Oh I didn't realise it was a physical gift card. Thought it would go into my account as credit, but that's fine too I guess. Will just have to wait for it to arrive now.
