    These are really horrible.
there is up to 2KG variance between subsequent measurements

    • Maybe you have a defective unit? Most I've ever had is .2kg variation between measurements at any one time.

      • What was the other scale measurement you used to compare?

        • Same scale, same spot after 1 minute.

        • @bashar20: I just picked up mine and it works fine.
You most likely purchased yours 4 months ago when this deal was posted https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/161512. It's under warranty, so take it back for an exchange or a refund.

        • @unity1: Maybe I will. cheers.

Bargain. Get more than what's asked for!

    • Wait what?!?!? Omg.
I am pretty serious about my weight and I thought i had lost weight.

I hate scales as they vary so much.
My old scale said I weighed 47 then this one 49.5k both right when I woke up.
The hospital one said like 53 but that was mid-afternoon.
Now your comment freaks me out.

    • I've got this last time. It's always off by 2kg as well. I'll be 83-85kg just from a couple hours apart. Apart from that it's quite solid.

      • Maybe I was just lucky, but the one I got a couple of days ago is very consistent with itself, 0.1 to 0.2 kg difference between consecutive measurements, even if I move it in between.

To the limit of reading the dial of the old one accurately, the results of this new one match the old mechanical scale I used so far.

I use both on a timber floor, flat and hard.

      • your weight will be flucuating through out the day. eating, drinking, sweating, poops, pees, water retention, dehydration etc. your weight will usually be lowest first thing in the morning.

        • Yeah that makes sense. I also weigh in the morning but it hasn't been constantly stable unless I'm losing and gaining lots of weight.

For those who wish to see a lower weight, this might be a good one to use. :)

Yet to see an accurate home grade digital scale. Get an $8 spring based one from Big W and it'll actually work.

I have a very similar one to this (paid much more for it :( )and simply by moving it from one room to another I get different results. Hard floor, carpets, makes no difference.

    • +1

I don't even need to move it from room to room, just move it slightly from one part of a bathroom tile to another and the results differ lol

scales need to be on a level floor. if you can gently rock the corners then it is not on an even surface. once you get it set up right then don't move it.

  • You get for what you pay, what else can i say?

I got into weight management 2 years ago and found scales were a great way to encourage myself. Some experts now believe it's better to measure your waistline, which makes sense, but I still find scales the best tool for my weight loss. I could never have just one set, I'd always wonder about accuracy without the 2nd opinion. In my case I have one cheap set like these, and a more expensive Homedics "body composition scanner" (lol). Both are surprisingly accurate, there's always a 0.6kg difference between the 2 sets, so I know for sure if I've had losses or gains. This is the cheap one I use: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Free-Postage-New-Electronic-Digit…

  • I saw this in HN around Christmas at this price - looks like they're trying to get rid of them.
