Free Cisco WLC-2504 if You Purchase Two APs

40

Get a FREE Cisco Wireless LAN Controller WLC-2504 with 25 AP license when you purchase TWO (2) wireless access points, either a 1702I, 2702I or 3702I.
The WLC-2504 (with 25-AP license) comes in as part of the "bundle". The promo codes are:
AIR-AP1702I-UX-WLC
AIR-AP2702I-UX-WLC
AIR-AP3702I-UX-WLC

Please be aware the WLC do not have any warranty or maintenance. The APs, however, are covered under Cisco Limited Lifetime Warranty (so you don't need to purchase optional warranty on them, if you don't mind the 10-business day turnaround).

NOTE:
1. This is a post for those who are interested only.
2. SKU part numbers now include the "-UX" Universal Regulatory Domain code.
3. This post is not to debate about "why I want to get Cisco vs <Brand X, Y & Z>".
4. There is a significant chance if you're talking to an Australian-based Cisco Sales Engineer (SE), the SE will claim this promo a. Doesn't exist; or b. Not valid in Australia. Cisco SE have a "sales points". They snub people who buy the lower priced appliance like this. So they will try to discourage anyone from jumping at this promo.
5. If you have access to CCW, (as of 29 January 2015), the SKU are there in CCW but NOT yet searchable.

If you Google any of the following promo codes, you'll be able to see a significant amount of hits.

  • This seems weird, as the price for AIR-AP1702I-WLC is a bit over $1K (assuming USD here), but the price for AP1702I is $382.56 x 2 @ http://www.technopolis.com.au/products/10810-aironet-1702i-w…. Saying that, the AIR-CT2504-25-K9 is $5757.60 on the same site.

Heck, you were planning a 20+ AP deployment, this might save you a bit, but then again, you might need to source it from a US reseller.

    • For those who are going to jump at this promo, please be very, very careful when purchasing the AP. If the APs are going to be installed in Australia, the Regional code of the APs MUST BE "-Z". This is the new Regional Regulatory Compliance code for Australia.

      NOTE:

      1. I don't want to debate about "-N" still available for use. I still wouldn't recommend because this is just a workaround by Cisco WNBU.
      2. And NO, I do not want to debate about the up-and-coming "universal" Regulatory Compliance code.
    • Preface: I'm not 100% familiar with Cisco's models

Usually a "WLC" is the controller, not an AP, just used to manage (and sometimes power) the APs.

And I know that Juniper require licenses for every AP, wouldn't surprise me if Cisco are the same. The WLC usually have a few licenses bundled in.

edit derpppp.. All mentioned in the post.

Cisco is the same with the wireless LAN controller (WLC) and the Prime Infrastructure. You need license for each and every AP you deploy.

  • Hi OP, thanks for the post. To make life easy for all can you price 2 AP's and update the title?

    • +1

Hi OP, thanks for the post. To make life easy for all can you price 2 AP's and update the title?

I would be accused of misleading because there are three different wireless access point models (even if I just put one price) to choose from.

Plus, some people can get this price for LESS because of special discounts from Cisco.

      • you can say "from ___" without being misleading.

  • Note to everyone: I've updated this thread to reflect the new "-UX" Universal Regulatory Domain code.

SKU is now in CCW but, as of 29 January 2015, you cannot search for it. I'll update when it's available.
