1920x1080 24" BenQ G2420HD $199.99 - Free Delivery

1531

The title says it all. A 1920 x 1080 24" monitor delivered for $200.

Has DVI and HDMI inputs. The E2400HD shown here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/17985 looks like a nicer built BenQ for an additional $30 plus delivery, but I think the specs for the screen are about the same.

If you're looking for a new monitor, and can't pick up from a store, this is about as good as it gets IMHO.

EDIT: Looks like it's sold out.

  • Oh! This looks really good!

  • +1 from me. A lot of 24" montitors have been posted recently but I think this is the first one that rivals the Acer X233H which I believe is still about $185 after cashback.

    • Acer X233HB, no match again the Benq E2420HD, this is the Gaming series monitor. For Gamer they need a good feature monitor, not base on price.

  • +1

got one of these.. great monitors!

  • +1, great deal for 24"! delivered too.

  • +7

Huge bargain. I must stop visiting both 9289 and OzBargain.

In recent months I have bought 2x laptops, 2x 24" LCDs, 1TB HDD, 9 video cards (for work) and misc bits and pieces too.

    • +1

similar stats here…all started with the dell s2409w

    • +1

I need to go to bargain rehab. All the stuff I mentioned I have purchased from 9289 :)

  • what differences between the G-Series and E-Series? other than the look?

    • +1

      G for Gaming
      E for Entertainment

The E series has additional features such as speakers and a USB hub, and higher price.

      • thank you! :-)

I just hate the "extra bit" at the bottom of the right hand corner(G-Series)
pity the E-Series only have 10000:1, while the G-Series has 40000:1

        another question:
would you notice the difference under these Contrast Ratio?

        • +2

          You're comparing the wrong numbers.

          G2420HD
          Contrast Ratio 1000:1 (DCR 40000:1)
          E2420HD
          Contrast Ratio 1000:1 (DCR:50000:1)

So the E actually has a slightly superior dynamic contrast ratio; the static contrast ratio, usually more important, remains the same. I would guess that the difference would be imperceptible.

          • @TimeOrMoney: thanks for the reply, I do wish iibuy offer E2420HD for $229 :-(
the one that iibuy offering is E2400HD (not E2420HD)

            G2420HD
            Contrast Ratio 1000:1 (DCR 40000:1)

            E2400HD
            Contrast Ratio 1000:1 (DCR 10000:1)

so question: would you notice any difference in quality? :-)

            • +1

@davidl2: You may notice a little difference, if that. But it's not like you're going to be comparing the two side by side - you'll just be going "woah. big screen" with which ever one you got :)

I've ordered this one. I'm rarely impressed with monitor speakers so would spend the extra odd $45, that the E2400HD costs delivered, on a pair of dedicated speakers.

  • +8

BTW guys - a little bit of research I did a few days ago led me to the findings on this monitor

    • Great value, was up to $285pp in August
    • Mwave had a huge special on them, they were $219pp a few days ago
    • VGA/HDMI/DVI - HDMI has auto switching so it should automatically switch to HDMI input when HDMI device is turned on (i.e. XBox 360, PS3)
    • Proper 24" - none of this 23.6" viewable stuff. A 23.6" is just marginally taller than a 22" 16:10 (by 3mm) and wider. This is both taller and wider by a decent amount.
    • 3 year warranty, good brand, etc.
  • +1

I just bought one then. It was finally time to upgrade my 21" CRT monitor that I got for $3 from ebay a few years ago lol

  • Nice price but god damn it's an ugly monitor compared to the E2400HD. That little flappy thing on the bottom right is…

  • I wish their dead pixel policy was better… they lag the industry by far. Even a couple of dead pixels is considered acceptable by them.

    • +1

Yes their dead pixel policy is poor and may not meet ISO standards either.

Samsung, for example, have 3 year 0 dead pixel policy, so do LG.

But quality comes at a price.. :(

I have an AOC 22" LCD and have had it for many years without issue. I would assume the BenQ will either have dead pixels at the start of its life, or never at all. In which case they have 14 day changeover period.

  • +2

This is a great deal. I paid $270 for this a month ago, and was pleased with it at that price. I also have the 23" Acer, but prefer this as it works with digital TV, and has a much better interface if I want to change the input from VGA to HDMI (PC to PS3 in my case). It also has a 3.5mm audio out so you can plug your computer speakers into the monitor if you're using HDMI input.

Another plus compared to the 23" Acer - if you plug your PS3 in and it's set for SDTV the Acer will not recognise it and you will get "input no accepted", whereas the BenQ will recognise it and you can play on 720P if you like. This saves a lot of fucking around trying to change it to 1080P if you only have SDTVs (the screen will go blank when you change it to 1080P, so you have to go through the menu in the dark to finish).

  • great price. is it everyones 1 bad pixel returns they got cheap?

  • I bought one of these from MSY 2 weeks ago for $248 but I had to take it back as it had a dead pixel right in the center of the screen, If I bought one of these I suppose it would be impossible to return, fantastic screen and I am dieing for another one but not from this place…

  • Just purchased :)
    Thanks for this great post!

  • +2

Excellent monitor. I paid $300 for mine only a few months ago.

  • When is Paypal going to be available for this retailer? Or is it already available?

    • It is. Has been for a fair while hasn't it? :s

I paid with PayPal about an hour ago.

    • I paid with PayPal too. No surcharge. They listened to our comments and implemented it :)

  • Hi guys. Does this monitor have a glossy or matte screen?

      • Color Glossy Black -
      • i think "glossy black" refers to the frame. the screen itself is matte (on mine anyway)

        • That's what I was thinking. Thanks.

  • is this an "LED" monitor, whatver that means?

    • -1

It is not. This is an LCD monitor.

    • +1

It is not. It uses a CCFL backlight. LED monitors are also LCD monitors too, they just use an LED backlight.

  • Okay..

    I just bought one.

Hope i don't get any dead pixels?

Is this a common occurence and is it true i only have 14 days to actually get it fixed?

    • It's not mega common. But it does happen on occasions. All places you can buy LCD'S from normally only give a few days to return and get a new one for Dead Pixels…

  • +1

Okay i just checked the terms and conditions

14 day return policy for any dead pixels as stated

And if you have 5 dead pixels then you can return it after this period (though not sure how many years later)

great price! even better if u can use the paypal cashback?

    • +5

what paypal cashback? the only one I know is only for selected international stores

    • Nope. PayPal cashback is only for limited amount of stores.

    • did u get them replaced under warranty?

      • Yep, after a couple of days the replacements arrived and the faulty ones collected. +1 for service from 9289

        • Did they replace them with the same model? If so, how are they?

        • +2

so whay you complaining you got them replaced

          • @aussman: he's complaining on a manufactural fault. Nothing to do with the seller (to which he +1'd)

        • +2

So in the end you received good monitors?

    • +3

Fair enough. Must keep in mind no brand no matter how good reputation is will always have a small percentage of faulties.

Of course a lot of people will neg vote you because they just bought it and don't want to hear it's faulty (I just bought it too) but it's good to share.

What is most important is how they treated you when they returned it. Did you get a replacement? Did you have any problems with the process? How is the new monitor?

Negative is a little harsh because the deal itself is good and of course 9289 don't make the monitor, but I would like to know more about your problems!

    • You're meant to vote on the deal, not on the monitor itself. $199 is a good price for a 24" - it's a good deal. You just happened to have terrible luck with the ones you received. :)

  • I've got the G2412HD which I think is one model down? but I love it.. and damn maybe I should've waited 5 months for this bargain haha I got the G2412 for about $245 back in around May for $245 which at the time was a brilliant bargain.

    • +1

2412 is identical to this monitor, it just has a matte frame instead of this which has a glossy frame. So don't feel too bad :)

      • correction G2412HD is 23.6", it is using the same bezel as the G2420HD 24". Where as E2420HD is a glossy bezel 24" all the buttons are on the edge of the bezel right hang side. LED backlight that doesn't distract you while you are playing game or watching a movie.

  • good deal. just bought one.

  • got one,thanks

  • I have to say well done. Great price. Not even possible in most stores to even come close.

  • +2

Customer is responsible for any shipping and insurance involved in sending the warranty claim goods back to us.

That concerns me, wouldn't make it worthwhile if you got a dead pixel :(

    • +2

why is everyone getting roped in to buying??!! Sure it's free shipping but if you get any problems, you gotta organise your own shipping back to 9289 and cost is on you. Dell's recent sale on the 23" is by far a better deal since you are covered for 3yrs no further costs to return to dell.

You better hope and pray there's no dead pixels coz from history, this guy had all 3 from 9289 with dead pixels:
      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1272422

      • +1

Well, as with most products, buyers pay return shipping. That's only assuming something goes wrong. Shipping should be no more than $20. Not a big deal considering the minimal failure rate on LCDs these days anyway.

This is 3 years too. The Dell is only 23" - a full 1" smaller than this screen. Makes a big difference.

I fail to see how a $237 Dell 23" is any better than this monitor. Dell make great screens, sure, but it's really not a better deal. This monitor can run PS3/Xbox natively without any scaling at all. I don't believe the Dell can. Not to mention the screen looks like a mirror, we have tonnes of them at work and they are reflective as hell.

        • Well, the Dell for 237 had a webcam, dual microphones and a resolution of 2048 x 1152 (meaning you can fit two documents on the screen nicely). Might not be a big deal to you, but for some it means a lot. Some may use it only for work purposes so having a 1920x1080 without scaling might not mean anything to them.

          • @[Deactivated]: Fair enough - higher res could be useful for those using it for work :)

I guess they're both good deals in their own right.

            • @cyssero: True true ;)

              • @[Deactivated]: Thx jared - exactly my points on why I would choose the dell over benq…not forgetting the usb inputs (not sure if the benq has them)

I'm just saying, don't get roped in just coz everyone is buying and thinks it is cheap…I dare to say at least 1 in 3 will post saying they have a dead pixel and will most likely just put up with it rather than send back to 9289.

              • @[Deactivated]: Oh, forgot about the USB ports, oh well too lazy to reach over to the monitor ;)

Im waiting for an ASUS or LG 24" to go down to this price, also wander when the 26" will go down in price.

                • @[Deactivated]: Asus 26", give it another few more weeks. I believe the price should come down.

  • Excellent deal! Just picked one up for myself.. I've been struggling on this 17" Dell monitor for far too long.. bring on the 1080p!!!

  • Has anyone been billed yet?

    • I have a payment status completed with paypal. I'm not too sure if that equates to the same thing?

    • "Step 2/5 Full Payment Confirmed"

  • Good value!
Last month, I just bought a LCD monitor ViewSonic 22'' VX2260WM (from MSY)…costs me $237…(╰_╯)#

    • +4

      OzBargain aka OzBuyersRemorse.

  • Benq is not a good brand. but 24" Under $200. it's cheap.

    • +1

Still much better than Acer, their budget brand :)

      • Actually BenQ/Acer are completely separate now and have no affiliation with each other.

"Benq was originally spun off from Acer in 2001 to provide a separate branded channel. In 2006 Acer disposed of its remaining shares in Benq."

    • +4

I beg to differ. They have and still do make some quality products.

      • +1

Agreed. I have a BenQ S41 laptop still going 2.5 years and strong. They're establishing themselves as a very good value for money brand. Their support isn't bad either, always had good experiences talking with them (usually pre-sales).

      • I agree as well,
Just bought the 24" to replace my 4.5 years old 17" BenQ that i paid $350 in 2005 (which is still going strong)

    • apparently Benq makes all the LCD panels used in Dell monitors.

      • Not true. My Dells have Samsung and LGPhilips panels.

        • Qisda (aka BenQ Corporation), the manufacturing arm that own BenQ Corp have made Dell monitors in the past. Dell use Samsung panels, but they are Qisda OEM designs (specifically the 2408WFP). There's info on Wikipedia and Dell's website and from Digitimes

Qisda also assemble TVs for Sony.

  • just placed my order on this and paid with paypal. now waiting for my new monitor to arrive. lolz….

  • I placed my order yesterday and still haven't been billed.

How long should this take? and i'm also worried about the part where someone has to be home from morning till evening to sign off for the package.

  • I have a BenQ 24" V2400W and it looks pretty amazing. It's sitting next to a ViewSonic VG series monitor and looks significantly better. The only issue I can really think of is the dead pixel warranty isn't as good as Samsung's, but then again I've bought two BenQ monitors recently and both have been flawless.

    • If the monitor burning for 7+ days and no dead pixels, your monitor should be able to survive with no dead pixel 99%.

  • my status for the monitor is "Step 2/5 Full Payment Confirmed",

i assumed they will process step 3-5 as item posted, item received etc. any1 deal with 9289 before can share with us how is the process?

  • I doubt they had much in stock, your all going to be waiting weeks…

  • They have taken the item off there website know. Looks like they have ran out of stock at this stage.

    • +1

      This is Jennica from 9289.com.au

We are very sorry. We have to take of the product for a stock take first. Because look like we have over sold the product. But don't worry.

We will have solution for that. We will make sure everyone can have there monitor.

once again we are very sorry about this situation.

      Thanks for your understanding.

      Jennica

      • Thanks for that, Jennica. Do you think you'll have some more in later?

        • when I talked to her she said they are trying to get more latier. I had the item in my shopping cart then it was gone, so I called.

  • So the people who ordered the product will receive it this week?
    Any clarification on this?

    • +1

We are now dispatching. We will trying to do our best to send out all the LCD. Please Understand we have sold more then 1000 a day.

Sorry about the waiting. But we will trying to do our best.

      Thanks for your understanding.

      • A 1000 a day? wow. We need to give this rush of orders from Ozbargain a name, just like being Slashdotted or Digged. "Ozbargain Effect"?

        • +2

Ozbargain move our stock soooooo quick! But we are thanks for all of your support. We will make sure every have monitor. Please don't worry.

          Thanks for your understanding.

          Thanks

  • It said 1-3 days for delivery.
Problem is i really need someone to be home during this time.
I don't want to wait all week for delivery

    • In the past my local courier company has left a note saying they've been, and I've just called them to organise another drop off time or picked up from their depot.

  • It said that another drop off time will incur a fee.

Also i don't want to drive to Chatswood - will take me 2 hours (1 hour includes getting really lost)

  • Sorry for the long wait. The Monitor is back. We will do our best to ship out the monitor on time.

    Thanks for your support.

Please let me know if you have any question with this Deal Of The Week

  • Can anyone who has ordered this and received it please reply to this thread? I wanna know if you have received them with/without dead pixels and how soon you got it. I placed my order yesterday (Sunday) pm.
