    probably the cheapest around at the moment, but can $699 be considered a 'bargain' after the $498 boxing day deal?

      Bargain is in the eye of the beholder

        Bargain is if it gets lots of + votes

          Not really, explain udemy?

    • Still think its a great price, but I doubt we'll see them at $498.00 anytime soon.

      I did manage to grab the last one in the store last Xmas when TGG had these going for $498.00, but since then, there have been some good deals on TV's of late around this price range, cheaper for non-smart models.

      I would be a buyer of this if I was in hunt for a TV.

        I disagree. I think we'll see many 1080p TVs on sale.

        • +2

          You disagree that we won't see a 48 in smart TV for $498 anytime soon???

          Fair enough, kudos to the buyer.

          I believe we will see them on sale, but IMO that $498 deal was a one-off for now. In 8 - 10 months, maybe. But with the dollar dropping the newer models will be able to keep their prices higher and the old stock will keep some sort of value gap.

          Bottom line, buyers have never had it so cheap for LCD/LED TV's.

          @TilacVIP: I think we will see some similar priced TVs to the $498 over Christmas. Let's wait and see.

          @undertaker149:
          you want to wait 11 months to keep this thread going????

        • @chriskq: 11 months, I think that's waiting for new models!

  • 12 inches make such a big difference!!

  • I guess gone are the days of $220 42" tv huh.

    Why there is no 60" 3D tv bargain?
    I don't want a 55" tv.

  • So dam tempting!

    Am waiting for the Sony bravia 42' 3D tv to go on sale again :( so cut that i missed it on the boxing day sales…. should not have hesitated

  • Great price… Half the price of what I bought before 1 year.

    OP thank you for the post.

    I just wanted to point out that the 48" Sony was 699 a few days ago but with the back60 coupon came down to 639. Literally this week. (On Tuesday)

    So it's $60 more than it was 2 days ago

    As always with DSE treat all "sales" with a grain of salt

      A couple of other were cheaper as well in that deal,

      Panasonic 42" TH-42AS700A $639 after $60 cash back;
      Panasonic 42" TH-42A400A $489 after $60 cash back;

      Sony 40" KDL40W600B $539 after $60 cash back;
      Sony 48" KDL48W600B $639 after $60 cash back

      That's the problem trying to keep up Dick, sorry, keep up with Dick, when is a sale a sale????

      Bet there's another $20 off $500 spend in a day or so to bring these current TV deals (sales?) down further?

    • Yes, I was checking whether those $60/80 deal would still apply…

    • On Tuesday I wanted to buy the 48" Sony (with the back60 coupon) for $639. There is no stock in whole of WA. Today's deal with $699, there is stock in Perth City. hmmmmm stock replenished within 2 days. I guess it is a hit and miss with Dick's deal.

  • I am at DSE Midland now, there are 2 of the 60 inch KDL60W600 B's left, might only be one if I pull the trigger. Also they have 1 pana 50 inch 3d smart Plasma, which I thought were long gone.

    Gawddddd……..decisions

  • U/Trent86 I need some advice- found a display unit Pana th-p50st60- plasma 3d ppl were very positive about a year or more ago- its been a display unit for 1 year (hundreds if not thousands of hours use) and they want $950 for it (same price as Christmas 2013 special price). Is the TV that good its worth taking a risk and spending 1000 on an old display model?

    • +1

      Not for me at that price, $500 maybe.

      Say DSE is open 350 days a year, 8 hours a day, thats 2,800 hours burn time already on that unit. Say you run it 5 hours a day at home, thats 560 days (2,800 / 5 hours) another 6 months use gone already.

      People playing with it, dust, probably on the 'shop' settings running high colours etc.

      • Yeah I think you're right.

        I had one of the "refurbished" Soniq plasma's that were going for $350 in November, received it in Dec and it's already carked it so I will never buy Soniq again. My first plasma but, and liked the picture on it though, and wanted similar. We have the latest and greatest at work and it's a turnoff seeing movies look like so sharp and distinct.

        Said exactly what you said to the DSE guy, thousands of hours etc, and he reckons they couldn't go lower than $950 because it was below cost….. Keeping it up on display is only going to worsen its value, obviously, and I was surprised the best he tried was to reduce it from $997 to $950.

        Probably would have taken it if he'd offered somewhere around the $800 mark and I got it at $750, ah well.

        Just wanted to know if it was the be-all and end-all of plasmas I guess, which might have justified the risk, ie. will the picture on a mid-2013 plasma still be better than a led, and also bearing in mid it is a 3D + Smart.

  • There you go, codes for cheaper tv's
