  • is that 8pm AEST or 8pm dodgy SYD time ?

  • -1

AEST = Syd Time = Yes

    • +3

AEST is not Sydney time. Its Australian Eastern Standard Time.

Sydney do this silly thing where they change their clocks away from standard time so they don't get confused when it gets darker at a different time. This is called AEDT. Australian Eastern Daylight Time.

Currently, AEST (UTC+10) = Brisbane Time, AEDT (UTC+11) = Sydney Time

Queensland is on AEST. NSW is currently on daylight saving time

Seriously Queenslanders, your derision of Daylight Savings Time is neither timely, witty, or warranted.

Im actually in Honolulu right now from the $540 Brisbane to Honolulu return prices a few months back. Definitly recommend it. Although personally the flights are the cheapest part of the trip. Everything else besides food here can be a lil pricey especially accommodation . Especially with the horrible exchange rate. :) great place though soooo beautiful

kudos. imagine that.. sunbaking or volcano watching in hawaii while browsing ozbargain.

      Livin' the ozbargain dream

  • Its only 1/10th of a story getting there and home cheap.. With the crappy AUD->USD rate, its a pretty expensive destination. Its a killjoy of a holiday when U start converting everything to USD. Even with a 28degree cc.

    • Depends what you are spending your money on, I think.

Booze and diet coke seems cheap to me; as does food generally.

Accommodation though… sucks big time; unless you wanna do an Allenby in the park.

    • So far our travel expenses for two are reaching over the $10+K mark (Honolulu 6days + maui 9day), inclusive all equipment (gopro+camera+accessories), carhire, lodging (cheapend shared accommodation), activities, food, insurance, etc.

ie. that is what I meant by 1/10th of the story in costs getting there.

You can go on the cheap staying only in Honolulu , limiting your activities and just staying in a hostel.

PS: Even though you'll save transaction & exchange fees with 28degree mastercards.. exchange rates are commonly lower with any CCs. some also penalise you with surcharges.
