    Good deal !

Those who don't mind paying a "bit more", consider a 40W with 3 years warranty and a free PS3 for $1600, and sell the PS3 on eBay.

  • you could use the ps3 as blu ray player…

    • and play some games…

  • Some guys in this thread managed to find the 40W5500 for around $1600
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?r=21298670#…

  • Does this model have the hardened glass screen? I am avoiding the cheap models where you can press and smudge the LCD screen (like your laptop).

This is the V 50Hz series as opposed to the more expensive W 100Hz series.

  • Haven't seen anyone in Perth gets the 40W5500 for $1600. I was quoted $1809 at my local JB… brought a copy of receipt from interstate and they wouldn't price match it. :(

I'm seriously thinking of moving out of this town!!! LOL

  • LMAO, don't hit NSW matey you will regret it lolz.

You are better off hittin QLD

I paid $1090 for the W version from Retravision in Clifton Hill in Melbourne last week…. for the extra 100 bucks it's worth it because it's 100Hz…. the Big W one is only 50Hz.

  • Costco has the 40W5500 for $1700 and some thing about extended warranty as long as u are their member. I think cheapest model that comes with the PS3.

  • does this qualify for the free PS3 that sony are giving away?????

  • I think you should still compare it with the 720p models. I could be wrong, but at 32" I think the difference would be fairly subtle, and you also have to remember that not a lot of TV content is full HD and some may be 720p. For instance the 32" Samsung for $777 might be alright:

  • Here is a price match for all you.

I paid 1611 for the KDL40W5500 and its awesome! Plus the ps3 to boot

  • Good deal on a 32" Sony.

Problem with the 40" W's is that their running low on stock.
JB have increased their prices due to demand exceeding supply.
Since the PS3 promotion started SIX days ago over 4,000 PS3's have been claimed :O

  • What is JB's list price on the 40W? The 10% off TV's sale starting today could make for a decent bargain.

JB Online dropped their price back down again for the 32V5500.
$970 now and I believe they have free delivery at the moment too.

  • Is a 46" Z series (200hz) for $2600 good?

    • Nope.
Hardly Normal in WA are doing them for under $2300 :O ;)

Also the ad appeared in the VIC Herald Sun.
Maybe there's one in Sydneys paper?

      Good luck.

      • wow! those are really good prices…….

the catalogue isn't available when i searched on harveynorman.com.au for sydney. dammit.

        • The same ad has been published on today's Daily Telegraph page 8. I think all the retailers have already awared of it

  • "I paid 1611 for the KDL40W5500" is not a complete statement of what took place after looking at the docket.

I paid $1611 PLUS $89 (for a Salesman's up-selling tool Warranty) for the KDL40W5500 would be more accurate.

HN sell the same TV for $898. See this:

@msjb, is $200 different worth for 100Hz model (you said W model was $1090)?

  • TO hanofee: Big difference - not only is the W double the Hz from 50Hz to 100Hz… but also the Dynamic Contrast and native Contrast is far, far better. Hope this helps on your decision making. The W is a great model and am very happy with it.

  • Sorry - got the details of the difference.

    V Series 50Hz:
    Dynamic Contrast: 33,000:1
    On Screen Panel Contrast: 3,000:1

    W Series: 100Hz:
    Dynamic Contrast: 50,000:1
    On Screen Panel Contrast: 4,000:1
