1% Finance Deal on Brand New NISSAN Cars

530

1% p.a. comparison rate finance on many BRAND NEW NISSANS.

There are most likely some fees involved.

I suspect that you would have to pay the ticketed price and any negotiations on price would be limited, but I'd love to be corrected on this.

    • I had a Camry once. The only car I've ever owned and hated! Never again.

This deal has been going for well over a year…
What's the bargain if it has been running for so long?

  • +1

1% p.a. comparison rate finance on many BRAND NEW NISSANS.

The Offer landing page seems to suggest the 1% finance deal is only on popular SUV models.

    Did I read that wrong?

  • +8

We did this mid '14 during EOFY sell offs
Xtrail was normally 36ish, went down to 32 during the sale.
    Bargained further to 30,300 (spewing i didn't get 30even)
Also got the tow bar for about $800 instead of $1500 in their catalogue. (riip off !)

My point? you can still bargain the final price.
Also, during the finance discussions, you can make the payments v's final balloon payments whatever you want. (i'm sure to a a degree)
So for example, if you have a home loan, reduce you car payments and put that money in you home loan instead, then withdraw that money later for the final balloon payment, saving you approx 4% (working on 5% home loan 1% car loan)
They really pushed this hard, as i think they hope (and i'm sure a few do) spend this money rather than save it for the final payment, then your balloon payment becomes the old car and then you get in the loop of doing it all over again.

Also, there were other % values for 4 and 5 years, but not as sweet as the 3 year 1%

Yes but then you have to drive a Nissan…

  • -4

    It's a Nissan…

    • +1

      It's still a Datsun

  • 1% 'comparison rate' compared to what?

    • Geez why the downticks?

It was a fair question. Or can't anyone explain what a 'comparison rate' is?

      • +1

The rate that includes any fees/charges. For example, with a credit union that doesn't charge a fee per month for the loan, you may have a 5% interest rate and 5% comparison rate.

With one of the less reputable providers, you may have an advertised interest rate of 3.99% - however after the $50 monthly charge it could end up being 24% (comparison rate).

        • Thanks for that. So basically that means it's a 1% interest rate in total with no extra fees or charges?

      • +1

You can easily google it, it's a very common term for interest rates.

You can think of it the "real" interest rate. It's closer to what you end up paying, not some shady rate that doesn't include extra nonsense fees and charges.

        • Cheers,

Yeah I did google it first but I couldn't make sense of the explanations. I'm probably just dumb but some things need to be explained to me in as simple terms as possible. :)

  • Hmm what do people think of the new Xtrail? Wife wants/needs a new SUV - looking at Xtrail as its 7 seater but still compact.

It ticks all the boxes but its just kind of meh/generic/looks like every other Jap car.

If only Grand Cherokee was a 7 seater…

    • my wife refused to drive anything bigger than an x-trail. got the 2012 model and we all love it

    • Looking at one of these also. Have a Ti almost 3yrs old coming off lease in a month or so.
Wondering if this would be a better option than a novated lease…
Interesting the Ti is a 5 seater now, only the TL-S is 7 (boo!).

    • I've just spent the last week looking at them all. The wife and I both agreed on the new X-trail. It ticks all the boxes and has the right price tag.

      • Big enough for family? Car seats etc?

        • Absolutely. Both the X-Trail and the Qashqai are big enough for the family and to me seemed the best value for money of all the smallish SUVs I saw. The X-trail has a few things going for it:
          - Slightly (but nicely) bigger.
          - Keyless entry and ignition.
          - 2.5 litre engine (vs 2 litre of the Qashqai).
          - Made in Japan (Qashqai is made in the UK).
          - Nicer boot with lots of useful configurations.
          - Back seat air conditioning vents.
          - Only $2,000 more (approx).

I also went to see the new Honda HR-V. I couldn't believe how tiny this is for an SUV. The back seat is unusable if you're anywhere near 6 feet tall. The boot was tiny also. The Qashqai seemed much more family friendly than the Honda and still has the all important features like reverse camera at a good price. The Honda CR-V is a good family option, but seemed dearer and the X-trail still had a bit more room and a more useful boot.
I also saw the Kia Sportage, the IX35 (too pricey for the model with reverse camera), the Mazda CX5 (pricier, smaller and SWAMBO hated it) and a few others. For the money the two nissans seem to fit our family's purpose better than any of the others.

        • @Dingo:

How did you like the Outlander?

        • @2jzzzz:

Good point. That's the one I wanted to see but didn't get around to it. I had limited time to sort this out and SWAMBO didn't like the look of it, so it was behind the 8 ball from the start. In retrospect I should have saved the time I spent inspecting some of the other cars and gone to see the mitz, but what can you do…

I also didn't go to see the forester as I've never liked Subaru styling.

    • Forget nissan try a Toyota Kluger.

  • +2

Is there any way to do this without the balloon payment at the end? Say, increase the weekly repayments over the 36 month term?

    • +1

Yarp, budget the balloon payment and lock it away into a high interest saver that will allow you to withdraw it when it comes time to make the final payment. Will actually cost you less that way.

    • +4

Keep the baloon in an offset or redraw account to your mortgage.

  • You do realise low finance rate means less bargaining power upfront.

  • Anyone know if this can be applied to Renault vehicles also… financed through NFS?

  • +2

I got this deal 3 years ago. Got it for 4 years at 1%. Bargained the price down to almost a 20% discount - based on this time I bought it. It was great. No strings attached with the finance option - just paying it back monthly — and if I pay it off early the penalty is 10 dollars a month.

  • +2

How are these under the bonut?

  • +8

    I'm a little lost…

So at the end of the loan do I pay for the balloons, or does Nissan pay for the balloons?

    • I am also wondering about this as well

  • +6

Is it just me who thinks the Nissan Juke should be rebadged as Nissan Joke?

  • +1 for Nissan JOKE

  • hmm ok so the question is what's a good price for a nissan suv? im looking for a family sized car and trying to suss out the lowest price point, happy with a demo model…

    • Pathfinder St - very nice car.

      • very cheap inside - I don't think as nice as X-trail inside (which is what I went with)

  • I had been quoted a 2014 but brand new xtrail 7 seated for 29k driveaway.

    • +3

Assume that's the ST 2WD with 7 seats ? Can you share which dealer provided quote ?

      • what are you after, where are you located?

    • Hi rajy,

Can u tell me which state and dealer? Would you be able to get the 1% interest as well?

    • I guess that would be for a manual.

    • Care to share the model please? Looking at a TL-S 7 seater, love to see some prices people get.

  • Isn't gonna be better to salary sacrifice?
Good deal if you're self employed.

  • make sure to check forums before buying any Nissan CVT (Auto) car. in USA, 1 out of 4 car breaks after a year or two. Not sure here but check before buy.

    • I think it might be a little over exaggerated in numbers. People who have issues are the ones complaining and posting so of course it seems like a lot. But if your car is fine you don't jump online and complain.

There is an issue it seems yes, but 25% no way we can substantiate that number unless you got more information you'd like to share?

      Ps. Cvt is pretty good.

      • CVT is not good for SUVs particularly when you want to tow something

    • Wow, big call for 25% issues. My X-Trail Ti is almost 3yo now and no issues.
How does the car 'break' exactly?

  • New and also demo cars dealer told me today.

  • I was ready to buy a brand new Qashqai ST Auto + plast Saturday at 27500$ and one dealer advise me about this promotion.
Now I'll come back this Saturday to ask again, ready to buy for 29.000$ and 1% finance.

    • I'm considering the Qashqai too (same model), if it's around 27k I would snap it up!

Only concern is the engine, looks a bit under powered especially for 2L.

      • I've got some concerns about the CVT only.
I've been in a dealer yesterday and the best offer right now is 30.000$ with 1% finance, I'll wait the end of the month!

        • Go back to the same dealer and say you'll sign up at $29k, and put pen to paper

    • I'm gonna wait until next month and check out the CX-3 before I make up my mind.

  • Test drove X-Trail this morning…. Very nice, quiet, comfortable…. ST has plenty of gear…

  • Any others doing a similar deal?
60K+ for a Pathfinder Hybrid seems abit much.

    • Yes, it seems a bit much, you can get a kluger awd gx driveaway for 10k less though…

    • If you want something like that, you may as well get a diesel Prado and enjoy some amazing resale (there's no doubting the Prado is one of the best cars on the market for holding resale)

      • Diesel sounds like it might be the way to go, Looks like there are X-trails for 40k mark. Cheers Spackbase

  • Money isn't free but upvotes on ozbargain are. Nissan understand marketing, ozsheep don't.

  • Hi All,

    Just adding my 5cents in!

Just negotiated the following X Trail 4WD Auto Metallic Paint:
RRP $37,709 at my local dealer.
At first visit dropped to $35,091.
2nd contact dropped to $34,528 - After contacting other dealers, but had to buy what the local dealer had in stock standard paint only.
3rd contact $33,800 - Including the metallic paint.

Had to shop around though and contact dealers down south before the local dealer would drop the price. Took some time.

Not sure how good a deal it is, thoughts welcome?

    • Not sure how good a deal it is

Does it matter, if you signed for that?

      • Thoughts only optional bud. Haven't signed yet.

        • 4wd or 2wd? What model? What inclusions?

        • ST. If it was an STL at that price I'd know it was a good deal! And be boasting about it! Haha.
          4WD as above.
Metallic paint as above ($495 extra usually)
          No other inclusions as yet.

        • @Paiixy:
Quick Carsales search shows it sounds ok. That said, without any extras, offer them $33k flat and be prepared to sign at that very moment. Getting quotes, talking about prices, all useless talk until you're prepared to actually shake on it. Wont see the best prices until you're prepared to do so.

  • Hi,
I was looking for a Nissan X-tail ST since last 2 weeks (in VIC). today i drop down SUV price to 30K form local dealer! But I am not sure it's a good deal or not .
also with 1% finance i'm not sure what are the other charges (like admin: cost and so on ). I am hoping to get finance for 3 years with 10K balloon payment.

    • +1

      Hi,
2WD I assume yeh? Sounds like a good deal. Considering Qasqais are around the $28-29k mark.
1% Finance, there is a "dealer facilitation fee" of $770 which I'm told can be negotiated. And the establishment fee of $395 is waived for the 1% deal only.
Yeh no reason why you can't do the 10k balloon option, but you are much better off doing the max 50% balloon option and putting that extra money in a mortgage offset account or savings.

      • Hi Paiixy, thanks for your reply. its a 2WD, Black and no extras ..i thought dealer facilitation was $440 for 3 Year 1% Finance?

        • Yeh it could be, I guess it depends on the dealer??? Good to know though if that's what your dealer is quoting.
