Hi everyone.

This is my second "bargain" so I hope I will give you enough information.

I have contacted Lenovo due to the fact that they don't give us as good deal as on the US site and they gave me this code.

"FBY50" -20% of Y50-70 Gaming laptop. Thanks Lenovo.

Seems like a great prices for laptop with 4k display and 512gb plus it's Lenovo.

!!!!!: You can buy cheaper version with 16gb RAM and 1TB HDD(instead of 8gb of RAM and 512gb of SSD) for 1759.20$ :!!!!!
Use the same code.

  • Nice specs although websites will look horrific until we get scaling as websites seem optimized for 800x600
most websites are still too small for 1080p

  • I remember this month the 4K one's $999 USD in US.

  • Is that the exact same laptop on US ebay? Are we paying Australia Tax for it?

  • Would it still be cheaper to buy on US Ebay and have it sent to a US address then shipped back to Australia? Or would shipping kill it?

    • +2

I did the sums on this for a friend about 2 weeks ago, buying from Amazon. Including currency conversion, freight forwarding and customs charges, it was about $700 cheaper than Lenovo Australia's retail price. We are getting well and truly shafted by Lenovo on this machine.

Lenovo have knocked about $500 off their price for this deal, but it's still about $200 cheaper to import.

      • Amazing how they feel free to rip us off. Problem with importing though, will it be covered by an international warranty?

        • Most likely not, international warranty is usually only provided out of the box with Thinkpads.

  • Beware of the 1080p screen on this one- it's known to be very bad (low brightness, colours, washed out). Good review here (http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/lenovo-y50-review-1080p-ge…)

Anyone interested, I'm selling my Clevo (same specs as this but with a far superiour display, a lighter laptop, and a much longer battery). Details here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/182697

    • All the Y50 sold by Lenovo Australia has UHD 4k screen…
