Don't all movers supply free boxes?

  • -2

Only a select few large companies supply boxes for free, a very large percentage of Melbourne companies do not, most companies just offer them for purchase along with other packaging materials. These are brand new moving boxes that we do not expect people to give back to us either, they're just a handy starter pack for customers :)

  • I would guess most people would need a lot more than 20 boxes to move a normal house full - so the saving is minimal really in my calculation (I moved about a year ago and $66 is small change compared to most quotes I got).

I have thought the same until last weekend. Got a 3 bedroom house with no problems into 20 boxes but i have to admit that i have had a lot of the original packaging for the bigger things.

20 free boxes is all we can offer to our customers right now as our rates are quiet competitive and relative to the market so we figure 20 free boxes would help more than no free boxes :)

You can get plenty of free boxes at some supermarkets and they are very sturdy too.

Tip: number all your boxes so the removalist can't 'forget' to unload some from the truck.

    • Hi, your most certainly correct, you can get boxes at the supermarket and other sources, generally we do not recommend those boxes for fragile items as they are not as sturdy as the appropriate moving boxes especially when more glass wear and valuable breakables, the boxes your talking about are great for things such as linen and what not however!

I just filled it will old newspaper for sturdiness.

    • in regards to forgetting boxes on the truck we do require all customers to check the truck before we leave to ensure an overall successful move not leaving customers missing bits and pieces like screws or bolts or loose ends

just moved a few weeks back …asking around in work and at local Salvos/Supermarkets got us more boxes than we knew what to do with and all sizes :) only out of pocket expenses we had for packing was some bubble wrap and tape

    Estimated cost
    Small moves - $135 up to $250 - One Bedroom - $250 up to $300 - Two Bedrooms - $350 up to $500 - Three Bedrooms - $400 up to $750 - Four Bedrooms - $500 up to $999.
This is only an estimated cost, depending on the access of both properties, the amount of furniture which every move has, the last thing which can effect the cost is the distance from the pickup to delivery point.

So this could represent a $66 saving from a $999 outlay? Pretty lousy deal dont ya think?!

Please add the below conditions to OP:
Customers moving their full house contents of 3 & 4+ bedroom homes are entitled to 20 moving boxes

    • Too bad my place is so small then eh…
I don't see an issue with the saving. If you want stupid 60% off savings go to groupon.

      • Dont see an issue with it, but didnt upvote it either…

  • wow….. saving of $66 for BOXES !
that must be coming with GPS installed - just incase you lost one

  • Thanks rep.
I'm happy with getting free boxes for a house move.
As long as the rate per hour is good and doesnt charge truck back to base or to even to house.

How many men are provided and what are the rates eg.
Moving from one suburb to the next suburb within 3 Km distance eg in the northern suburbs like Macleod 3085 for a Friday or Saturday day?
