Good price for a good tyre! Worth noting shipping prices:

    Free

    Perth
    $12

    Adelaide
    $35

    Melbourne
    $35

    Sydney

These are per tyre so it does add a fair amount onto the cost.

yeah, also once you incl fitting and balancing, it doesnt become a "bargain" anymore

    Sock puppeting?

    No deal.

    http://www.stgeorgetyres.com.au/tyres/pirelli-tyres-225-40-1…

I buy my tyres from St George Tyres (through Ebay mostly, but sometimes from their website).

    These exact tyres are $148.50.

    Shipping is cheaper too…. $45 for 1 or 2 tyres, $90 for 3 or 4.

Buy through Ebay to get the buyer protection if you see fit, but I've never had an issue with them.

Always check your local pricing to see how much you're saving though.
I buy low profile sports tyres for both my cars, and I'm saving around $400-500 dollars by shipping tyres to me then getting local mob to fit for me.

    $25 a corner, fitted/balanced/dispose of old tyre.

    • And further to last… I actually prefer Falken 452's (or 453's now).

St George has the 452's in stock http://www.stgeorgetyres.com.au/tyres/falken-tyres-225-40-18…, and they are $136.50 (cheaper the Pirelli's above!)

Man, I should be getting a referal or something… soounds like I work for them :).
      (Just a happy customer btw)

      • How do you find the Falkens? I'll be in the market for four new tyres for my Golf GTI and wondering what to get.

        • Quiet tread pattern, top performance in wet, and being a softer compound is terrific in the dry too.

The 452 (or 453) is the flagship tyre from Falken.

I use 452's from where ever I can buy them as they've been superseded by the 453 and are a little cheaper now, but they are a truly terrific tyre.

I like to go to track days at Wakefield every now and again, and they've never let me down (in wet or dry).

        • @UFO:

How many km's do you get out of them UFO?

        • @UFO:

Thanks for the info! I will definitely keep an eye out for them.

        • @UFO:

How do the Falkens compare to Kumho Ku31's?

        • @ironpaw:

I have KU31s fitted at the moment and I'm not that impressed with them to be honest. The grip levels in the wet aren't great and they have worn much faster than I was expecting them to.

      • I'll just assume that you know what a parallel import is and the issues pertaining to using such tyres!

    • Are the ones in the deal the P-Zero Nero though? It doesn't say they're the Neros and the tread pattern looks different…

      • I had the 453's for a short time I found them really good, similar to the Toyo's.

    • But YEAR: 2012-13 PRODUCTION

      • +2

        So?

Tyre age doesnt come into play until 5 or 6 years… and even then that's after continual exposure. Tyres sitting in a dark warehouse and still with their wax coating are perfectly fine to buy if a few years old.

If you're driving under 10,000km in a year, I'd probably go for a 2014 production date just to be sure… but normal 15-20k pa use will definitely be fine with a 2012-2013 date.

Obviously be aware of production date (so thanks for posting it!), but for most people 2012 isnt an issue.

        • Yea the actual tyre companies themselves say that the dates are not that important if stored correctly but i guess they have a vested interest.

        • @Jonezy69:
That's not what they say at all. Hence the reason why they only give a 5 year pro-rata warranty!
Admittedly they can, and do, last a lot longer than that, but it's the oils in the rubber that start to dry out making the rubber more brittle and likely to crack or perish under the loads exerted on them!

Bollocks, check out the EVO tyre test a few years ago where they found a 13% performance difference between tyres 1 month and 7 months old. The fresher the tyre the better.

    • I buy my tyres from St George Tyres (through Ebay mostly, but sometimes from their website).

St George tyres has sold tyres that are not suited to Australian conditions before, I recall one time they were selling winter tyres from the USA and not declaring this and what was worse was these were performance tyres.

  • UFO that is a Pzero Nero which is an old and lower spec tyre, this is a Pzero the top of Pirelli's range. Yea flying ace always good to keep freight in mind, I'm in Perth so it was free but from the quotes i was getting even with fitting it was about $100 cheaper than stores or tyresales.

  • TyreBuy is P Zero. St George is Pzero Nero. P Zero Nero isnt even really sold anymore as far as i know the P1 Cinturato has taken over from it.

    • Rep needs to learn how to edit his unreplied posts :)

  • Jonezy69 Ozbargainers do not apprciate sock puppeting

    • I dont have anything to do with them, i just bought some tyres off them today for the first time.

      • Then how do you know that in the other post the tyres are not parallel imports and have Good Year Australian stickers on them?

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/2502441?redirect=1

        • My friend bought them at the time. That is how i found out about Tyrebuy and Ozbargain also as he told me abou the Goodyear deal on here as i have that size on my car also.

        • @Jonezy69:
          Goodyear Australia stickers???
Since when did Goodyear set up a plant just to remove OE stickers from imported tyres and put their own on?

Hint: Don't answer that question. Indirectly I'm a recent former employee of GDT… And they don't!

        • @Snoop:

Maybe his ozbargain friend bought some Goodyear Australia stickers on ebay and put them on the tyres he purchased and never told Jonezy about it?

  • +1

Seems sus, OzBargainers warning bells are ringing

  • I see you have got rid of your previous post now. A good deal is a good deal whether you are affiliated or not. If you are associated check the appropriate box

    • what previous post?

      • Sorry i may have been mistaken

        • ok cool. Still new here so not sure what you meant.

  • +1

That unintentionally ended up rhyming. It should be the first lines of an ozbargains anthem

    • -1

If by rhyming you mean the last word has the same number of syllables, then yes, it rhymes. Otherwise it does not rhyme.

      • Well im sorry. Il try and do better next time

        • So you will rhyme, come next time?
