For those that missed out on these tickets earlier, this Herald Sun offer is for 2 tickets to the opening ceremony in Melbourne.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Opening Event (in Melbourne) will be a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Australians and international visitors to be a part of the celebration of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The Opening Event will be a free concert and will capture the spirit of One Day Cricket and the personality and energy of the fourteen participating nations. Legends of the game will be joined by present day Cricket World Cup players in a celebration of cricket and culture which will be broadcast nationally on the Nine Network and around the world.

      Hmmmm, could it be I have offended the sensitivities of some die-hard cricketing patriots who still have a blow a horn-for-Warne?
      Well you'll be happly to know I've just been reliably informed of what the "encore" act is gonna be, after Warney's set.

      Apparently they've temporarily extricated Merv Hughes from the jungle, and he and the great (size-wise, I mean) Warney are going to have a SUMO WRESTLE! IN TRADITIONAL ATTIRE!!!

      Will Merv try and use his massive mustakka to push Warney out of the ring?
      Will Warney get "phone separation angst" in the ring (there's no pocket for a phone in the sumo G-banger-nappy)?
      Will Merv try to EAT WARNEY, in a crazed trance-like state induced by a combination of jungle-fever and meat-pie/beer deprivation?

      These are the questions the public are now asking.

      I think what your average (cricket-hating) OzB family needs to know is that the event will include an AWESOME FIREWORKS SHOW. I'm gonna take my little boy to the fireworks bit of it, cause I'd love him to see some decent crackers, but of course we weren't gonna do the "New Years" madness thing in the city.
      Now, does anyone know what time the crackers will be? Is there a program available anywhere for the event? I couldn't locate one… Reckon it's a safe bet to assume the thing will end about sunset (9 PM or so), and that's when the crackers will be?

      Anyways, forget yawn-inducing concepts like "cricket" and "concert" etc. This shindig needs to be rebadged:

      "Awesome, free, state-of-the-art fireworks display hosted from the vast green expanses surrounding the Myer Music Bowl, in Melbourne's CBD."

      I reckon that might attract a few more upvotes…

      There is no password; just join up/register, then order the tickets.
