      It's one of the old style diners on Swanston St that has ready to eat food that usually doesn't close and has tables outside to use, they are probably using Scoopon because everyone walks past for the most part…

        I remember as a kid that there were quiet a few of these diner style places in Swanston and Russell Streets especially. They all seemed to be run by Greek or Italians and they all had the photo menu boards in common with photos of a hot chips bucket etc.

        All seemed to shut in the late 90s except for Golden Towers and Swanston Walk Cafe (or whatever it is called 20 metres up from Golden Towers)

        From memory, both of these diners were owned by parts of the same family, however the ownership of Golden Towers changed in the early 2000s.

        Haven't been there for years. Is it "legendary"? Perhaps not. But it's definitely a Melbourne institution.

    One of the worst burgers I've ever had. Tasted like they went to coles and bought the worst mince they could and threw it straight on to a grill.
    Place is kinda dirty too, it's on swanston but the seats are kinda grimy.
