and control your air conditioning outside and inside your home.

wow, they can cool your backyard !!!

    • I wouldn't say that. Your gonna need a bigger unit.

I laughed 'jv'. People needa lighten' up. Or cool off.

    • +1

HAHA. Good call. Shame you the neggers. Its friday, lighten up people. Its clearly a joke.

  • Thinking of biting. Any ideas if Samsung air-cons are any good? Anyone who own one care to share?

    • I too would like to know this

All the info I have read points me in the direction of spending some more $$ and getting a Daikin or Mitsubishi

But they are a good 300-400 more

Yeah I just had one of these installed a few weeks back. Works well. Is quite and efficient. You can get the unit to show how much power it's using. Haven't seen it go over 0.5Kw. Using the app to control the unit is ok but nothing 'cool' (see what I did there?) ;)

What else do you want to know?

      • Take a look at Appliance Central. They seem to be the cheapest for Mitsubishi Electric units, eg. 2.5kW for $795 and free delivery. I haven't dealt with them myself but I've heard good things about them on Whirlpool.

From all reports they are ok.

Not bad but middle of the range like LG, Kelvinator. The only reason to buy one is the internet connection to turn it on before you get home. Give it a few years and all the good brands should have this feature.

In the meantime, I'd still stick with Panasonic, Fujitsu or MHI. Daikin if I was spending someone else's money.

If you can wait, most brands give you $100-$200 cash back per unit from April to October to get stock moving during those months (I got $200 for each of my 4 units, better than nothing :D), installation should be cheaper too.

        I concur with JB1.
When I was going my research last year (I ended up purchasing a Fujitsu), I kept hearing/reading the top ones were Panasonic, Fujitsu, MHI & Daikin.
Daikin was too expensive to be competitive in my bargain hunting (don't think I ever got a quote for their super-efficient models, even their middle of the range was way too expensive). Chose Fujitsu in the end due to rep, quiet, super-efficiency & cashbacks (plus used Good Guys purchase rebate promo & then price-match guarantee).

  • GoodGuys had a cashback on a Samsung for ~$500 (from memory) only a few weeks ago. I'm annoyed I missed that.

    • Me too. It was $699 less $125 cashback for this same model. JB also had them two weeks ago for $684. I went into a store yesterday to ask if they could match that price if I bought three units. The guy didn't believe that they had them for that price, but then he checked their past sales and saw they indeed had them for $684. He asked his manager, and he said no. They weren't willing to budge whatsoever on their current sale price of $754 because it is apparently below cost.

      • Masters also had them for $775 last week. With the 5% off coupon it came down to $736, then if 5% off giftcards were used, it would have been $699. The problem was that I'd have to wait for the discounted gift cards to arrive and they might not have come by the time the sale ended. Also, the 5% off coupon was online only, and in Perth there were only two places where I was able to order 1 unit online. I need 3, and didn't fancy driving all around Perth anyway.

  • Is there any deal for free standing air conditioners?

    • +1

I've never seen a deal for free ones, but if you come across one, please post here…

      • I mean the ones that are indoor and don't need to hang over the window or balcony as the strata doesn't allow it

  • I'm looking for options to cool 3 rooms upstairs - do any of these work without requiring 3 separate compressors ? Or any other suggestions ?

    • Sorry to piggy back on this, I am in the same situation. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions?

My current thinking is having a heavy curtain at the top of the stairs and just have an air con in the master bedroom and keep the bedroom doors open during really hot nights. Mind you, the bedrooms in my house are not very big, so I am thinking I can probably get away with that, unless someone has a better idea?

      Look for Multihead splits.

  • good to know the special offer at this time, prepare for next summer.

  • I have a 3.5kw Samsung in the bedroom, its good but a little over powered for the room IMO.
One thing that I am disappointed with is the heating on it, it seems to get too hot and instead of the pump outside shutting off and the blower inside running it seems to just shut down and wait till it cools down then starts up, not cool when your sleeping.
In saying this I don't know how other splits behave.
Cooling wise this thing is very efficient and quiet.

    • What would you recommend for a bedroom and how big is ur room?

      • how big is ur room?

        http://goo.gl/UdXZ2Y

      • 3.4m x 4.2m
I would always say the smallest aircon you can get for a bedroom, I bought a bigger one cause I was thinking bigger is better and it can cool the front part of the house but that was a mistake I would say and i have a 6kw split for the loungeroom to be installed anyway now….

I dont know Im happy during summer just using my evap, the spits were really just for heating.

  • My room is 4m x 4m with a open ensuit that's 2.5m x 2.5m approx maybe a bit bigger

  • Being sold on gumtree for $699 in Sydney, exact same model by the looks of it.
