  • Nice deal, got the K-50 body only for $520 a year ago.
The kit lens are so-so, pair it with a proper prime lens to get some amazing shots.

  • is this a good one or trust one? never heard with this brand

  • +1

I bought the K-30 here which was an awesome deal at the time https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121360 the K-50 is a minor upgrade.

The k-50 is awesome, comparable with Canikon's more expensive models. Unfortunately Canikon have the market stitched up so many other brands don't really get a chance.

I notice when it comes to camera's people generally gravitate towards the popular brands.

    • Good lenses are more expensive than the camera body and represent a significant investment for most people, so changing brands is not as simple as buying a new body.

  • I'm going to put my 2c worth in, I've had and used quite a few SLRs and DSLRs Nikon + Canon, and recently bought the K-50 Kit for my wife (for christmas, for $589 so this is a good price IMO).

It's a (profanity) amazing camera for the price. I highly recommend it. It has some great features and compares very well to the Nikons and Canons in the same class.

The only thing is (and it's not a problem at all for us) is the focus motor is pretty noisy, surprisingly so.

  • It is a very good deal.
pentax.com.au has it for $689.00, let's say they will have it on sale one day with 15% off, so it will be $585.65.
Ted's has it on sale at the moment for $565.46.

18-55 lens is quite good as well. It is weather resistant (as the camera itself) and optically it is quite good. Definitely not a prime quality but still a reasonably solid performer in the world zoom lenses.
And Ted's has Friday The 13th Sale :
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/182720
so you can grab an extra lens for your camera there as well, e.g.
    http://www.teds.com.au/pentax-da-50mm-f1-8-smc
    Pentax DA 50mm f1.8 SMC for $173.96.

    • No, the standard 18-55 lens is not weather resistant. Only the WR version is.

      • and they have a WR lens.

      • Ad says that the lens is WR as well

      • Oh okay, I didn't see the ad.
