  • just in time to coincide with the travel expo

  • I've had success with a cashback with Cashrewards and a promo code before.

    • Going by other threads it would seem you got lucky with that.

Thanks. Cancelled some accomodation on ratestogo that used another voucher from them. Booked here and saved another $100 total.

    • Nice one, I'll have to compare for my upcoming trip.

  • I have been spending the last couple of evenings looking for the best prices (Orbitz, Cheaptickets, RatesToGo and many more) for two 2-day stays in Singapore and this deal just saved me another $200.

If you find it cheaper even with the 15% off, which has happened to me, talk to them in live chat and get a price beat works every time. plus you get back in site cashback,

Not hotels in cairns in june it seems

Hi Califrag, I just did a quick search for 16 - 23 June for Cairns and there are some. Cairns Plaza Hotel and Cairns Harbour Lights are 2 for starters. Maybe it was to do with the dates that you selected.

      • Thanks Peck. I ended up finding a nice hotel in Trinity Beach.
It Was just a bit frustrating not to be able to tell which hotels were included up-front.

  • Mmm comparing State Lebua tower and Baiyoke tower in Bangkok end of April it's about the same price even with the discount code as Booking.com which also gives you $15 cash back

    • I've also looked in Bangkok and the prices after the coupon seem the same as on other sites without a coupon (and often the price is better on other sites). I'd suggest shopping around a lot first, other sites seem to have better deals out there depending on the hotel.

      • Phachara Suites BKK at about $A64 per night (Non-refundable) IF you get the Qwibble rebate, is a very good deal for a classy hotel. Location is a little close to the bar areas though, but close to skytrain.

  • Thanks OP

  • It probably varies wildly but one datapoint: the same hotel and same dates was cheaper on CheapTickets with CHEAP20 coupon.

    • Is that in AUD tho?
On the site it says prices listed in US dollars unless noted.
So do we get charged international credit card fee as well?

      • Unless you have a 28 degree mastercard etc you will be charged a foreign transaction fee. Keep in mind the promo code only works with selected hotel too.

      • Are you confident HotelClub isn't in USD? My rule is that it's USD unless marked otherwise.

But yes, CheapTickets is USD. FWIW I'd say CheapTickets and hotel club are the same entity, both are using the same software backend and appears to have the same hotels available.

        • Lots of sites use that backend (ratestogo is one). Also HotelClub is definitely AU, says AU next to the price before you click confirm.

Something to look out for though is even though it is in AUD, it probably uses an overseas payment processor. In this case plenty of loser banks are now charging the % fee on these as well. So even though there is no currency conversion (at least you know the rate used) you get stung with a fee.

        • +1

Yes I have previously booked with hotelclub and ratestogo.
Hotelclub has an office in Sydney, so I was charged in AUD with no fees.

The hotel I'm looking at currently is cheaper at hotelclub than cheaptickets (after USD to AUD conversion, and qwibble).

        • looking to book a room in Melbourne for 2 days. Looks like prices are quoted in USD.

        • @kulprit:

Yep, it happened to me with one of those deal sites(I can't remember which one). I didnt realise it until I received my credit card statement. I got slugged the crappy conversion rate plus international fee. That's why I always check these days :).

  • Hi guys, can I ask which hotel websites you generally use when booking accom? I've only used Agoda as I thought they were the cheapest but would like your opinions too!

    • +2

I usually just search for the hotel in "Tripadvisor" website, and that will automatically show you a comparison of prices from various websites such as Agoda, Booking.com, hotels.com etc.

      http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/

    • +1

Always cross check with sites such as hotelscombined….trivago etc

    • You have to shop around, recently booked a holiday with many bookings and the cheapest prices varied, bookings.com, expedia, cheaptickets (with the always active promo code)and just booking with the hotel directly.

  • What is Qwibble and how much cash back do they give?

  • Saved $200. Thanks OP!

  • So I'm likley missing it completely, but where do you enter promo codes?!

    • +1

On the left hand side, where you put the location and dates.
U have to scroll down a bit tho to where it says "Redeem promo code" (approx halfway mark of the page)

      • +1

Ah, completely missed that. Thanks mate.

  • I just went to the Febris Hotel and Spa site and the price there is $111 per night (with their own code applied for 5%), whereas via the HotelClub deal it would be $124 per night (Quintet room). Trying to figure out if this is AUD or USD on the Febris site though.

    • Febris hotel is in USD, so more expensive than the HotelClub deal.

      Booked via HotelClub.

  • Additional 2% discount if you book through their HotelClub mobile app I think.

    Edit: to your next purchase

  • We're sorry the promotion code you entered is not valid for this hotel. Please see the promotion code rules for a list of non participating hotels.

it says the code is expired by 23/02 not 24th feb

    i am late

    • yes, i just tried it again with other hotels and it works
      so it's selected hotel only

  • I've missed it too. Very disappointed as I thought I would be able to book today. How do I contact them?

    • I finally found their phone number and gave them a call. It took far longer than it would have on the web, but the operator was able to book the discounted price for me.

I don't know why it didn't work online for me today. It was working last night then today I just couldn't find where to enter the code.

  • It's still coming up as valid for me. It's selected hotels only.

    • I just booked a hotel using the code as well.
