Burger, Chips and a Pint of Craft Beer for Two ($25) at Funky Underground Bar [Sydney, NSW]

81

Hey I have to get this in before the deal runs out tomorrow, I have been to this place a few times, IMO its one of Sydney's best bars, dressed up a bit like a prohibition style club with 6-8 taps of craft beer, wine and more. Its a living social deal so you could prob use any active codes and also cash back. The burgers are incredible.

Here are details:

• Burger and chips with wine or beer for two is $25 (normally $50)
• Burger and chips with wine or beer for four is $49 (normally $100)
• Choose a roadhouse burger or the vegetarian burger with beer battered chips each
• Pint of Young Henrys craft beer or a glass of any red, white or rose wine each
• Available 'til late, on evenings Tuesday to Saturday

Other conditions etc in the link but the guys at the bar are really laid back and flexible (i.e. I didnt have to book 7 days ahead like it says, I could do it the morning of going in there.)

Also their Vego burger is incredible if you are not into meat burger.

Must book 7 days in advance to ensure reservation
Email bookings only and only confirmed once a response is made

These terms make it not a deal for me. I've bought a few similar and they always seem to be booked out.

    • Booked that morning, like I said in post, think LS made up those conditions. I wouldn't bother posting a deal with one day expire if I didn't have 1000% confidence in quality and value, but I don't mind people not going :)

Ended up emailing them and was able to get a booking tonight! Thanks for posting!

        • Thoughts?

@clarky: Bloody good!!! Burger is massive, and the guys there were really cool. Had both the Pork and beef.

        • @ViperAMD: Yes its a great little place, its a shame LS put such a terrible image of the deal but I'm so glad you loved it :)

  • tiny ass burger

    • Which normally at $50… W…T…F…

Edit: I'm blind, its for 2. But still…

    • Burger is about the size of a double whopper, chip servings bigger than large fries from Maccas or HJ. Burger is covered in great cheese, guess you have to have it like I did to appreciate the value even more.

For comparison, Harts Pub or the Local Taphouse burgers are around $20 each for same size. When was the last time you ordered a burger from a pub in Sydney?

I rather have a burger that would fill my stomach, put a smile on my face for the whole day & maybe gives me a bit of orgasm. :p

Forget pub burgers. Why don't you try these (to name a few):
        - Big Chief @ Rooty Hill ($8-10)
        - The Tuckshop @ Glenhaven ($12+)
        - Big Tree House Cafe @ Rydalmere ($12+)
        - Dougie's Burger @ Bankstown/Auburn ($10-20, and they got DEER burger!)
        - And also probably those Ramen Burger or TGIF… LOL

        • And you will find this mysterious burger for less than $2 where?

You haven't included petrol costs to those far flung places!

I reckon Grill'd does a pretty good burger.

Rooty Hill, Glenhaven, Rydalmere & Bankstown. Nice if you're there but not exactly central for most.

@Roscoe99: Sydney not the outer limits! CBD joints with high rent, pub burgers are expensive. I just paid $5.80 for a single HJ Whopper so $25 for two gourmet burgers and two craft beers is so dirt cheap

The size of that burger is UNIMPRESSIVE!

That looks like the edited 2 bites mini burger from hungry jacks, JACKASS DEAL!!

Unfortunately coupon sites like living social, Groupon etc don't have the most accurate images for their deals. I've had this burger and I can guarantee its the size of most pub burgers, bigger than a double whopper and flavour is fantastic. Also you would be lucky to pay $10 for pints of most craft beers wherever you go in small bars in Sydney.

      • Unfortunelty your mini burger image against a burger next to a BUCKET isn't very good

$12.50 for a burger and beer in Sydney and you're giving a neg!

So you've had/seen one of these or you're just negging based on some crappy photo and discounting first hand experience from the OP?

If you can find anywhere that will give you two burgers, chips and 2 PINTS of beer for under $25 please let us all know.

  • Looks like a great pub and will put it on my list to visit.

Only thing I found (and didn't look very hard) listed on their menu as a burger is served on a brioche bun. Can you please confirm Clarky?

(I am currently lobbying for national legislation outlawing anything served on brioche being referred to as a burger)

No it's a normal sesame seeded bun like you'd get from a good mom and pop store, the large kind. I have a photo of the burger in my hand actually but don't know how to post it.

Thanks for clarifying, happy to vote now.

As much as I can't stand a brioche burger it's good to see these guys have the decency to warn us on their menu…many hipsters in Sydney don't think they need to these days.

Don't bother, some troll will likely claim trick photography (just like why I married a woman with small hands)

        • Lol!
