HP Stream 8 32GB $139 + Shipping (From SE Epic Hour) @Shopping Express

110

As I am not exactly interested in any other deals other than tablet deals at the moment, I cannot be certain whether other deals on the Epic Hour deal are decent.

At least HP Stream 8 looks decently priced, especially compared to recent HP Stream 8 deals.

50 avaiable, starts from 9PM, ends at 10PM.

Anyways, specs of this tablet (From their webpage):

Operating system: Windows 8.1 with Bing
Processor: Intel® Atom® Z3735G with Intel HD Graphics (1.8 GHz, 2 MB cache, 4 cores)
Weight: Starting at 405 g
Storage: 32 GB eMMC
Display: 8" diagonal WVA IPS anti-glare multitouch-enabled LED-backlit (1280 x 800)
Camera: 2 MP front-facing; 5 MP auto focus rear-facing
Battery life: Up to 8 hours and 30 minutes Wi-Fi browsing, 8 hours and 20 minutes video playback, 8 hours and 55 minutes music playback

1 Year Subscription to Office 365

Their description looks like it has been copied and pasted from the US HP, I think that this tablet is not 4G enabled, that free 4G stuff applies only to US I believe.

  • The site says 30 units available =(

Or rather one part says 30… and the other says 50… lol?

    • …I didn't notice that.

30 unit is for the Dlink viper,

the tablet is 50 units, which we will revise shortly. Sorry for the typo :).

  • PM not AM

    • Thanks. I am getting so rusty at posting deals. Anyways, fixed :)

  • The Stream does look good. The ThinkCentre M73 looks good too. They're a bit larger than a NUC but feel a lot more solid. It doesn't use a mobile processor like the NUC so will eat up more power, but you do end up with more processing power as well.

  • Just going off the description "Live life untethered with free 4G on the cloud-connected" - Does that mean that it has 4g/3g?

    http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/tablets/product-detail.htm…

    • I think they just copied from the US HP, I think that deal is US specific.
If you go there, it talks about T mobile, so I'd assume that it's US specific.

Is 1Gb of RAM enough… really tempted as this is so cheap…

Also would like to know if this would be able to run ARChon runtime on chrome… tried to get it to work on desktop but can't get it running for the life of me…

    • I have no clue, but if you look up youtube videos or reviews on similar devices, they say it's better with 2GB but not unusable like many people would believe it to be.

    • If you have windows 8 PC (preferably a fresh install), open chrome and open a few tabs to your favourite websites, open foobar or winamp or utorrent, or whatever programs you'd like to have normally opened. Then go to Task Manager > Performance, and if the Memory used exceeds 1GB, then it's not enough (?).

      • That wouldn't help. I think Windows does take the available RAM into account for system as well when it runs system programs. I am not 100% but I'd assume that would apply to web browsers as well.

    • ARChon doesn't work with touch input.

    • I have one, and its a bit borderline. Really depends on what you're using it for.

I use it for videos, reading and basic games from the app store, which it handles with no problems. Some of the games on the app store do need 2gb though and are really laggy when played

    • Windows 8.1 has been optimised to run on 1GB RAM with these Intel Chips, but don't expect it to handle a lot of multi-tasking.

  • Wish there was a way of getting dick to price match this as I need it by Wednesday.

Any idea what SE are usually like with shipping times?

  • Store rep - are you able to include free shipping in the deals?
    Thanks
