    SPAM

    • i thought this website was meant for posting up coupon codes?

      • -2

only for bargains, not for spamming…

        • how can a business use this website then without being spammy?

        • @wpagency: By posting a bargain, simple.

        • @wpagency:

          "By posting a bargain"

          ^ that !!!

        • @jv: ok so what would you consider a bargain in regards to our service/promotional offering? 75% off? 90% off? Free?

        • @wpagency:

Just because something is 50% off, does not make it a bargain…
Look at the votes for your post…

what would you consider a bargain

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/popular

        • @jv: ok. fair comment and thanks for the link. I'll see what we can do to turn this from being considered SPAM into a deal that the OzBargain community is happy with. Some of the big tech companies like OneDrive can offer massive deals cause they have a lot of financial backing. We are a small business in Australia, but I will see what we can do!

*Also please note: that the discount is off the LIFE of the plan. I've updated the offer description as I realise that I didn't have that stated anywhere.

    SPAM!

    • indeed it is… NO bargain here.

  • Or you could use some good free bootstrap templates:

    http://startbootstrap.com/template-categories/one-page/

    • +1

yes.. a small business could download a one-pager .. but then they also need to setup their webhosting etc. this service enables a small business owner to launch one instantly without the fuss.

      • its piss easy to set up cpanel and install wordpress and then install a theme.

        • +2

yes, i agree. For me and quite a lot of people. However, there are also a lot of people out there that don't find it easy. So hopefully, this service enables those ones to get online easier.

        • @wpagency:
i wouldnt use your service, i know many self employed/sole traders wouldnt pay a high ongoing fee for a website.

        • yes i agree with you. However, there are also a lot of small businesses out there that need genuine help to get online. We are hoping to help those ones out.

        • +2

Maybe go walking around the street and do a survery to see how many people understand what would be involved to, 'set up CPANEL and install WORDPRESS and choose a TEMPLATE.'
you will be shocked to see how far they get.

im not sure you understand how much prior knowledge is needed to even understand what either of those 3 keywords mean.

You talk as if such specific terminology and tools is common knowledge for everyone.

        • @Y8eHv7pLx4: Thank you for your comment and one of the main reasons why we even considered building this platform is for the fact that we turn away a lot of potential clients each week that need a basic website and have a minimal budget.

We really believe in Australian small businesses and the two biggest challenges we hear from them everyday is:

          1) We don't have the technical knowledge - that includes working through cPanel, Wordpress, installing templates & plugins.
          2) We don't have the time - running a small business is really challenging in itself. Generally, small business owners are anything & everything in their business.

For the subscription fee, there is no need for a small business owner to know about cPanel or install templates or plugins. We also maintain & manage upgrades to the platform, our servers, premium themes and the plugins too.

I'm 45 year old rural builder who has worked with his hands his whole life and never owned a Call of Duty game, I tell you that i want a website for my new business i am starting.
      You give me that link.

What am I meant to do with that page?!

Just because you know how to download/modify templates and purchase domain and hosting while maintaining security patches and regular backups, understanding how analytics work and set up online forms. Doesn't mean your Joe Blow does.

Dont make people feel like an idiot for not knowing, what is actually quite specific and specialised information.

      • Doesn't mean your Joe Blow does.

        He DOES !!!

        • Hi JV, I do agree with you that there are a lot of people that know about cPanel, Wordpress, templates and plugins. That's why Wordpress is really popular, powering over 73 million websites around the world today. That's a massive amount of people out there, equating to more than 10% of all the websites on the internet.

However, we also come across just as many people who have never heard of cPanel or Wordpress (yes, it surprises me too). But hey, with just over 7 billion people in the world, we are probably going to find a few people that don't care for cPanel or Wordpress and just want to run their businesses and get on with their lives.

It appears that you have a good knowledge of cPanel and Wordpress, so for you, there is no need for using our platform and we understand that.

  • 50% off what?
a 1 page website should be about $1

    • Off the web-hosting. The subscription package is actually for our basic plan, which allows up to 10 pages, 20 posts and 2 GB's of storage. http://wpagency.com.au/pricing/

We made the one page templates, as many small business owner struggle with the time to write up content for a full-website.

      • But put the pricing up!!!!

"We made the one page templates, as many small business owner struggle"…so we price gouge them for their ignorance :-) taxing ignorance is a great business model & good luck with it.

        • ok.. we made the pricing around what we felt was fair. Considering our server costs and what top hosting providers charge. However, we are open to hear back from small business owners about what pricing would work for them. We only just launched the platform so we welcome any feedback.

        • @wpagency:
I'm not sure these people understand your business and who your market is.

You take away the need for knowledge, understanding and maintenance to build a website. Which is exactly what a large portion of businesses are looking for. Your prices are fine.

    • a 1 page website should be about $1

they charge from $228 to $588 per year…

      definitely no bargain here…

      • To clarify our other plans are not for the one pager website. That's for a fully functioned website. Our two other plans have unlimited pages and unlimited posts. With more premium plugins.

  • +5

$19/month for hosting as restrictive as this is pathetic, even with the coupon code bringing it down to $9.50/month is way higher than most people would pay. There are plenty of other deals on here for hosting much cheaper than this.

Edit: Oh, and if you claim you're charging for the design work, why are you just using pre-designed themes?

    Your main site: http://themeforest.net/item/elision-retina-multipurpose-word…
    Your linked templates: https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/fixer/

    • no, we are not claiming that we have designed them. We have stated these are pre-designed templates. For most small-businesses, it's not easy for them to know how to get a template from ThemeForest, sign up to web-hosting,.. then get everything working… we've purchased premium plugins, and themes and made them available for small business owners, so they don't need to do all of that..

    • also our website hosting is on enterprise grade servers with Amazon Web Services. Not cheap and nasty shared hosting.

  • If you are a graphic designer or web developer. This platform is NOT for you. You can use www.squarespace.com, www.shopify.com, or the plethora of other website builders. This was made with the small business owner in mind, to try and bring the setup headaches down.

When our Wordpress websites launch, they launch with everything already setup, the plugins, the demo content, the pages, everything.

You should probably have read the merchants FAQ.

The following products or services are not well received and shouldn't be posted:

    Services:

    • Web Design

And the general deal posting guidelines too:

    • POST a clear title including price and location.
    • LINK directly to the deal. (ie not to your home page)

      and…

      •CHECK competitors prices before posting.

      • Thanks again JV and we have conducted research across our competitors and their prices. Our main findings between the Oct-Dec 2014 period are listed below along with some pros & cons of each type of service.

Our industry / product comparison (against similar competitors) is as follows:

        1) Instant Site Launch & Self-hosted & self-managed - This is generally done through a web-hosting providers such as Crazy Domains, Netregistry, GoDaddy, Blue Host, etc.

        Pros
This is the most price effective option for getting web-hosting (if purchasing a cheap and nasty shared hosting plan). Hosting plans from US companies can be as little as $1/mth (USD) but generally around ($5-10/mth). In Australia, Netregistry's lowest plan starts at $12.95/mth. Users that have a good technical knowledge, want to keep costs down and have the time to manage their website, themes and plugins won't have any issues here and this is the best option for them.

To find out more info read this from Wordpress -> http://codex.wordpress.org/New_To_WordPress_-_Where_to_Start

        Cons
With shared hosting these plans generally lack the server security necessary to help defend against most hacks. Wordpress websites on these servers are bound to get attacked. It's just a matter of time. Cheap web-hosting providers will not help rebuild or secure your website if hacked, so small business owners will need to hire a web developer to rectify this if it gets too technical. Some web-hosting providers may (and only some do) restore a backup if they have them. Some will charge, some wont.

The biggest trade-off with this option is time & self-management.

        2) Site Builder Platforms - Squarespace.com, Wordpress.com, Wix.com and Shopify.com (yes there are more out there but these are pretty big players in the market). These platforms provide a variety of templates and lock users down into their platform (with the exception of Wordpress where you can pay $199 USD to transfer your site to your own hosting provider).

        Pros
The average starting price for these platforms is $8USD/mth which is over $10AUD/mth (with the current exchange rate). Most of these platforms are great for groups such as bloggers, photographers, restaurants, musicians and ecommerce. Fantastic for businesses that need some creative flair - as most of this platforms will allow access to the HTML & CSS. You also get server security, as these guys manage and maintain their platforms to ensure it's always up & running. That's pretty awesome.

These are all really good options for people with a slightly better budget, do not require any custom functionality and require server security without wanting to worry about it. We have and still recommend these platforms to potential clients. However, we also recommend our own platform too.

        Cons
For small business owners that don't have the time to learn how to use one of these platforms (although they are relatively easy to use), they'll need to engage a graphic designer or web designer that does know how to use them. The pricing will range from anything such as free (your techy niece or nephew who probably self-hosts their own Wordpress website as above), to $5-$20/hour (which can be found on oDesk or Freelancer) or even $60-$150/hr for local freelancers / agencies.

Many small business owners don't know who to go too or who to trust, so never end up getting a website up. Not even a basic one-pager. (And yes, there are many other small business owners that do know a good designer / developer).

This is not a suitable option for businesses that require custom branding or custom functionality in their websites, as these platforms do have limitations.

        3) Website Design & Development Agencies - Last but not least web design & development agencies! This is a really wide gap, when it comes to trying to compare pricing and options. You can go as low as $199 with a development agency in India, all the way up to $150,000+ for an enterprise grade setup (websites such as Techcrunch, Dunkin Donuts etc are all on Wordpress & paid huge $$$ to get them set up).

        Pros
This is the most flexible option for small business owners that have the money to spend. Generally, an agency will be able to handle most requests from a business in terms of design or functional development. You brief the agency what you want, you both agree on a price (or hourly rate), and they get to work. You get on with your life & run your business, you check in as required, they deliver on the brief and you're done - website gets launched. Generally, the agency will use their recommended web host etc and handle any other technical aspects.

This option is great for businesses that have a budget and they don't need to know anything about design or development. They just need to know what they want or don't want in their website.

        Cons
Not all agencies are good agencies and with the vast difference in pricing, small business owners will need to shop around or know someone that knows someone - that know's a good agency. Costs will most likely be a factor if going with a local agency, so shopping around is key. If going with an overseas agency, potential barriers such as time zone differences, communication and language could be an issue.

This option is not good for businesses with a limited budget and don't require any fancy functionality.

Whilst, we recognise there are still further options such as crowd-sourcing etc, to obtain design services, we don't believe it is directly in the scope of our product/service offering & therefore have not included it in our review.

In closing, we do believe we are providing Australian small businesses with a significantly simpler & secure solution than the average web-hosting provider, are on par with current site builder platforms (most are US based vs Aussie based) and are a cost-effective option compared to local agencies for small business owners looking for a good clean & simple website with key functions for most businesses. (On Wordpress.com whilst more competitive on the subscription price, do not allow users to add any plugins of any kind.)

    • In regards to this service, this coupon is to discount the monthly subscription fee only. In launching your own one-pager website, we do not provide any web design. The page link goes directly to the template chooser, after you have selected the template you want, it will bring you to the account setup page.

In signing up, we give everyone a FREE 14 days to trial out the platform. After that, then the coupon can be used to discount the subscription fee. I would also like to clarify that the discount we have provided up is for the LIFE of the account.

I've made a short Youtube clip to help show how easy it is to set up an account.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T0pXhn8kBo

      • Yeah, you're quibbling over details. The reality is OzBargain doesn't like what you and other similar ventures are offering or the way you're offering them and that can't really be fixed.
