    If you click the link to the deal, there's an Amazon review (4th one down on the featured reviews) that has images of the drive inside the enclosure and the dissembled logic board.

    So judging by that, yes. There are very few (if any) 3.5" external HDDs that cannot be removed from their enclosure.
