Does anyone know if the British varieties made with high fructose corn syrup (like the U.S ones) or cane sugar?

    • +6

Cane Sugar. Thats why we love the Brits.

Yay, I still have love for our colonial overlords. Thanks Noobist.

This. If you can get the GB version, it has "real" sugar and definitely tastes different.

Too bad I am staying off soft drinks. They are the devil's handiwork. His delicious, sugary, handiwork.

The UK one that Coles sells is infinitely tastier than the US one you'll find at your dodgy corner shops. I always buy 6+ on my weekly shop. This deal has me frothing, hoping for a QLD deal too

      • Yeah i've bought quite a few U.S made sodas and they never taste or have that "feel" that soft drinks made with cane sugar do. I guess that why Americans get excited over Mexican Coca Cola or Pepsi because they're all made with cane sugar.

Have to try some Brit ones, haven't had one yet.

Wow, never heard of an international grocery aisle.

    • Depends on the Coles branch.

It's a fairly new feature but you see them more and more often (also labelled as "European foods" aisles with specific British/Italian/X European Country shelves).

  • Anyone in the east of Melbourne seen any?

    • I just stocked up in Fitzroy, looks to be nationwide. Hopefully they're not discontinuing them!

    • Coles Tunstall Square Donvale Wednesday night had them (ask me how I know!)

      • That would explain why the shelf was clear when I wen t:-)

        • I only bought four. I was concerned about all that yummy cane sugar!

  • Can I also add that the Bistro gravy below the DP is also the bomb diggity. Picked some up on my usual trip to grab an armful of the Doctor and never looked back.

    • "Bisto"

      :-)

If anyone has tried Dr Pepper and didn't like it, check which version it was. The UK version is far superior to the US version.

    The cans are damaged…

    • Which store? The ones at world square are ok when I was there?

      • The cans in your photo are damaged

        • Feel free to pick the good ones. There were over 50 cans on shelf. Could have more stock if you ask the friendly Coles staff…

        • I don't know if I can carry 50

  • Anyone seen any in Prahran?

  • but Kirks soft drinks are on sale at Woolies, $4.34 for a box of 10 cans.

    • Nowhere near as delicious as Dr Pepper.

Read this as I was having my third burrito of the week from GYG world square upstairs, thanks!

    Edit: aisle 3

  • Never understood why they stopped selling the stuff here. Oh well..

  • Do you remember how much the irn bru was selling for? It's in the orange cans to the left of the picture. I have a Scottish mate who loves that drink.

    • Yes, it was $1.95, it caught my attention as I recall watching a Vice doco mentioning it

  • Found them in Coles Kingston.

I can't remember which aisle, but looking toward the back of the store it is the one immediately to the left of the main soft drink aisle. The cans are on the right hand side, at the counter end.

  • Just picked up 3 from Karawara Coles in WA (Next to Curtin Uni).
That should do me for a while :)

  • This is on again this week starting today .. well at Coles Burwood anyway

didn't check the expiry dates but must be close..

  • On again this week at my local Coles (Toombul) too. Expiry is May this year.
