    Some great reviews!

  • Excellent price for this model!
I'm in the market for a wireless speaker around the $200 - $300 mark and it comes down to three: Sony-SRS-X5, the Bose sound link mini and the JBL Charge 2.
For me both the Sony and BOSE have good bass but very muddy mid and upper sound. The JBL Charge 2 kills them both across the full range. Your mileage may vary of course. Good Guys have the JBL at $215 atm best local store price I could find.
It's very hard to do a decent comparison in store so check out this guys comprehensive reviews before you buy:

    • That link is comparing the Charge 2 with the Sony X3, not the X5.

      • Yes. He doesn't do a direct comparison with the X5 but in other vids he does compare the X5 with the BOSE using the same recording method so you can make the direct comparison between the 2 yourself:

To my ear the Charge 2 has far better mid range clarity than any of them, particularly at higher volume.

        • You've been saying that the Charge 2 is better than the X5 and the Bose Mini but the links you have provided still have not supported this claim. i.e. Charge 2 vs X3, and X5 vs Mini.

I am not disputing your claim since I havent heard the Charge 2 or the X5 (I have a Mini) but maybe you should just say that "In my opinion, the Charge 2 is better" without referencing anything else :)

  • "some have said better than Bose soundlink mini.." Nnnooooo!!! :)

    • I reckon it is a lot better than the Soundlink Mini. I tried both of them in-store and the X5 was clearer and packed more bass at the high volumes.

Don't put off potential buyers of this quality speaker with your limited review and knowledge of the two aforementioned products.

I'm not putting anyone off, I was just merely teasing. For something to have beaten Bose is impossible to some people, not me, thus the comment above. :) I'm not an audiophile so I can't tell which one's the best. For my average consumer ears, they are both great.

    • I own both the X5 and soundlink mini, chuck the mini to my brother. The X5 sounded much fuller

      • Same here. I have both in my office at work (helps ease the pain for when I have to work late). Started with the Bose and while it sounds great, the over powering bass got the better of me. At lower volumes especially, all you hear are the bass notes and very little upper frequencies. Got the Sony later and it is certainly more balanced with ample bass to boot but if you like listening to music at max volume then it might not be to your liking. I personally find all these tiny speakers sound like crap at max volume anyway.

  • Thanks TRENT86 .. price matched with officeworks ,bought it for $144..
