  • Where to get it unlocked

    • -1

      Asia store

    • Try bagman

Bagman can't apparently and a code is about $20 from eBay.

        • I don't see any unlock codes for this phone for sale on EBAY…

They were removed about the same time bagman stopped unlocking it…

      • +2

Bagman stopped unlocking these at end of December, no easy or cheap unlock & Telstra reportedly asks for $100 to unlock - so buyer beware!

        • Can I ask ….. Why did bagman stop unlocking?
Has he stopped altogether or something about this model?

        • @blibster:
Just Nokia Lumia apparently. No idea why - read the link.

        • @brucefromaustralia:
          Yeah I did, thanks Bruce.
This phone sounds like a bit of a turkey to me unless you use Telstra.

        • @bruce, it's $80 for phones activated 6 or less months / or never activated, $25 for phones activated more than 6 months up to 2 years.

        • @jdf:

I assume you have to activate it with a telstra/boost sim? Or can it be activated just via wifi or something? Outside of 2 years from activation do they do it for free or no mention of what happens after 2 years?

Edit: Seems its a free unlock after 2 years activation.

    • reflash it with the generic firmware

      • Does this unlock it?

  • Seems a very regular deal at this price @Woolies past deals & discussions on unlocking

  • I believe it's very difficult to get a code to unlock this handset, I've tried in the past and failed.

This phone will work with Boost but not Aldi.

  • And from Wednesday it will be on sale at Woolworths supermarkets for this price for a week.

  • I bought one on the last deal Woolworths had. It's great as a 3G hot spot. Battery lasts 10+ hours of one connection using it a lot.

    • I hear if you tether with bluetooth you can save some battery life (with devices in general)

      • Do you lose speed?

        • It depends, theoretically Bluetooth can transfer faster than 3G so there shouldn't be. From what I've read though, in reality it goes USB tether > WiFi > Bluetooth

edit: another plus with Bluetooth is that you can tether it on demand without taking the phone out of your pocket/bag

The only thing that stops this from being an unbeatable bargain is the difficulty to unlock it…

still makes quite a cheap multimedia device with sd card support for kids though, play games/movies/music/gps/spotify/wifi browsing etc. If you consider it like a very cheap ipod touch with less apps but some better features as well then it becomes more of a bargain.

  • Has anyone confirmed this is at other Big W stores?

    • +2

Just checked Plumpton, there it was discounted to $49 before EDR, then I scanned the card and got it halved to $24! Probably not the intended deal but I'm beaming

  • Also possible to get 5% off if you purchase discounted Everday Wish Gift Cards. You can use Entertainment Book or Cash Rewards.
