Don't you just love competition. Yesterday Air NZ released these fares, then today STA comes out and drops them by another $20 or so. Only difference is these fares apply for travel in August only.

Even with the narrow 3-4-3 seating?! They squeeze and extra seat in every row compared with Virgin's same plane type.
Have to admit, I managed to book the rear pair of seats on 3 of 4 flights! But the seat in the middle wasn't so bad, even as a 6ft guy.
I've flown air nz twice to the US and would fly with them again. I've sat in middle row before and while it wasn't great, it didn't really bother me either. And I'm a 6'2" guy as well.
How much did FC beat Air NZ direct by? Was it worth booking through the agent?
We mainly went through the agent because we had other flights to book and they got a good deal for all of them.

Thanks for that. I'm travelling in September and returning in November so I'm not sure whether to buy now or wait longer. There was a Feb to April sub $1000 sale now this one, so I'm hoping September through November will be next.
Tempted to book something for my honeymoon. Guess I can't reserve flights to think about it for some time or is it up front ?

Has anyone used the layby system? Can you cancel your flight during the layby period? I'm seriously considering locking in my flight cause $875 to LA for July/Aug is not gonna be beaten. I'm 80% sure that I'll be able to fly during my desired time but I just am nervous that the 20% will happen haha.
If you book through STA and travel on a Air New Zealand flight, can you still get airpoints dollars with AirNZ? and you can still qualify for the $50 off using "nz50" ?? if so im sold…

Whoaa, I thought I got an amazing deal early last year for about $1050 after I got flight center to price beat the Air NZ direct fares.
Was very happy with Air NZ's flights too, definitely would fly again.
