The LG LB65 series is excellent. You're paying for an IPS display with excellent blacks, viewing angles and response time. My housemate has the 60inch and we picked it after much comparison with a similarly priced Sony.
I am pretty sure the LB65 series is not an IPS model. LG website does not say anything about IPS.

The Good Guys website is down at the moment, but I'm fairly sure it listed IPS for this TV.
Because the equivalent Sony is a piece of shit (lots of issues) and the Samsung costs alot more
