So how much was that 2TB in the bottom right corner going for?

    • 2 tb was $100 too

  • I assume this is not nationwide? May I know which store is this please?

    • +3

it is nationwide. the store was garden city qld

      • The packaging looks ragged lol

        • Heh the product has probably been sitting there for years and obviously a customer has bought and used it then returned it.

      • tell you what, someone already bought the only 3 there this morning! :\

  • thats a very good price if they can be found else where

At this price, I'd grab it. Only thing I don't like about it is slow wireless transfer speeds and it's a tad bulky. But it's great to travel with, and you could easily use the app on your mobile device with a Chromecast.

    • These are great drives, they aren't bulky. I have mine with me now in India. Fill it with movies and music and save some room to backup your photos of your holiday. Fantastic drives.

  • Is that a 4TB on the right side for $150?!?!?

    • +2

thats seagate expansion desktop not a wireless.

      • And? $150 for a 4TB drive is cheap… Pull it out of the case and away you go…

        • thanks for spotting that. $150 had been the sweet spot for 4tb for a while, but I was expecting them to dip lower. But then the aussie dollar tanked. Yet here it is again for $150. I grabbed the last one from BigW Canberra Centre. :)

          Now, I just need 2 more to complete my 5-disk RAIDZ1 pool….

  • I've been using the 500GB that I bought for $100 about 2.5 years ago. Great product and works well with Chromecast.

Been looking to upgrade to the 2TB, by just replacing the 9.5mm drive internally, but this seems worth it too.

    • I think there's at least one website that offers hacks, including swapping out for a solid state drive.

how do you use it with Chromecast, streaming movie, music? Can you please share some tricks? Thanks

      • You access your media files with Seagate's app. That app supports Chromecast. In fact the Seagate appears as a DLNA server, so any app that works as a DLNA client and supports Chromecast would work too.

  • how slow is the wireless stream? or copy?

    • More than capable of supporting three simultaneous streams in HD, but copying files… Seagate recommends connecting via USB 3.0, thus turing off streaming while in that state.

      • oh thanks m8, might go get one then :)

  • How much was the wireless 2TB of this.?

  • Good to pair up with iphone.

Got the last 2 in westfield liverpool. Still full price on the ticket but scanned for $100. Staff wasn't even aware its on special. Thanks op!

  • Picked the 1tb from blacktown, was the only one they had in stock.
Lots of other items on off as well. See my other post today.

    Thanks opp.

  • Just got the last from Westfield TTP. Like the previous posts, staff member want even aware it was on sale.

Apparently no Big W stores in Adelaide have ever stocked the 2TB version. Good customer service though.

  • I got the remaining 3 in the cabinet from Box Hill, VIC! not sure if they still had stock.. Cheers OP!

There was no discount tag on it! I had to ask him to scan, even the staff was surprised

  • ……

  • They were not priced down at Cumberland park, but scanned at $100 - the service desk said "drop zone" pricing is nationwide, but come with no "change of mind" returns. There is one left at Cumberland Pk [ Goodwood Rd, S.A.]

    No stock in Rockdale NSW.

  • Indeed a very good bargain.
    Cheers!

  • Picked up last one in Erina BigW today - guy didn't believe me when I told him the price at first, then it scanned at $100. He wasn't happy as he said if he'd have known he'd have bought it for himself!

    • Bought one today from Tuggerah Big W, already marked down to $100, 3 left at 3pm, if anyone on the Central Coast is after one.

  • I just bought 2 from bankstown. There is only one left in the store. Be there quick.

    Will OW do price match??

    • Even I want to know that! And since this isn't an online price or in the BigW catalogue, how do we give evidence to OW?

      • Being as there is no tangible evidence to bring in.
I'd assume you'd have to call up a Big W store locally. Find out if they have plenty of stock. Then head to nearest OfficeWorks that has stock, and get them to call up that Big W and confirm they have it for that price. Then shouldn't have an issue I guess??

        • Big W Gawler SA had six in stock at 4pm SA time if anyone wants to try …

  • Sold out at Rouse Hill. Found other stuff instead haha

  • Just got one from underwood store

  • To those who have purchased one to use with the iPad, any issues?

Tried it a year ago and the Seagate app was OK but not great. It didn't play all video formats but I can't recall which it had problems with. Given a 1TB Seagate standard usb (no wifi) generally sells for $100 this is a great deal even it won't play your whole library. Last time we used it was via usb into a WD TV Media Device.
About 6 units still for sale at Gawler SA. Almost bought one but decided it was silly - who needs two?

      • Kinda why I wasn't too upset there were none left at the Big W I visited.

I turned of the " use built in player" and get offered my full range on my Xperia, and can choose VLC which plays pretty much anything. Documents offer me my full range of office software, and I'm having trouble understanding some of the " caan copy files between IOS/Android but can only copy files from a desktop -in USB mode it acts like a normal drive in Mint.
One thing to beware of tho - connecting to seagate media server [ the connection app for the phone] over wi-fi [even using phone settings to connect first] and being recognised in USB can be "s l o w", and the upload of files from phone to disk stalled a few times on first use - using while chaging led to the bottom of the disk getting really hot -making a sitting it in a makeshift cradle to hold it sideways may help. [Reminds me of when 3 Gig drives first came out, and the old joke " you formatted it upside down" came true…"

good to know, especially with chromecast support for VLC on its way.
