Logitech iP5 +Drive Mount $30.53 Delivered from Dick Smith eBay or $25.58 Click and Collect

440
CTECH20

After missing out on the previous deal for the LOGITECH +Trip Vent Mount I had the LOGITECH iP5 +Drive Mount in my cart, I check today and the price has gone down to something I am will to spend on a phone mount.

So for about 30 bucks you can get this magical drive mount (because how do magnets work?).

If your local store has stock then you should be able to get it for about $25 but every store near me doesn't have any in so I paid the delivery.

Thanks to BTB for the original 20% off coupon: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/187802.

Oh and don't forget cash rewards if you want that extra change.

Edit: I have a Oneplus One that I am planning on using with this mount.

From my understanding there are two Logitech +Drive Mount, One comes with just the +Drive Mount & universal attachment.

The other (this deal) come with +Drive Mount, universal attachment & a iPhone 5 case, I plan on throwing the iPhone case away and just using it with my own case.

buying it with the iphona 5 case is cheaper than buying the one with out

$32 Bucks - iP5 +Drive Mount

$44 Bucks - +Drive Mount

Personally I never put a case on my iPhone so none of these magnetic mounts are suitable

Did some research and the Kenu Airframe (http://www.kenu.com/products/airframe) seems a better option for me, similar price to this at Officeworks and slightly cheaper on eBay:

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/kenu-airframe…

    • I bought the magnetic thing from yesterday and tested in my house. It did not seem to hold the weight of my phone securely. I'm not sure if my driving would be as forceful as me shaking the thing, but it still did not seem secure enough to give me confidence in letting it hold onto my $800 device. I have a note 4 with a one of those fat spigen cases. Do anyone know if the Airframe will fit it?

I have one of those suction cup bendy arm things with a clamp on the end, and while it does the job, it kind of gets in the way. I want the phone below my dash for visibility and also I can't stand the marks the suction cup leaves behind.

I have a note 3 with a Spigen case - This holds it great over bumps and knocks in my work van.
The one caveat is that you have to put the metal plate on the outside of the case..
I tried it on the inside and it warps the case a little, so the back is no longer flush. No chance that would hold onto the base.. Also tried it with the plate on the inside of the battery compartment but no change.

Another thing to note - I used the sticky plate to attach to my dash, and used the suction onto that so no marks on the windscreen.

I had another good mount previously (think it was called an exomount) that fit the note with Spigen, but it vibrated a lot.. Good thing was that the suction was strong enough to mount onto the grain dash finish with no issues, except on 40+ degree days..

    • Fair enough, If i was to get a vent mount I would most definitely get this one as I have heard the Logitech vent mount isn't that good for bigger phones and that one looks pretty decent.

But because I am very prone to dropping my phone I pretty much will always have a case on it now (especially since I just got my Oneplus One's screen replaced through an rma) and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who will always have a case on his/her phone.

Belkin also has one similar http://www.dicksmith.com.au/mobile-phone-accessories/belkin-…

I was offered this yesterday instead of the Logitech +Trip because I went in to DSE to see if my order was ready but they couldn't find stock. The 2 nearby stores which supposedly is showing stock also does not have any. So they offered me the Belkin mount for the same price but I rejected. I'm just wondering now if I should have got it instead…

the Kenu Airframe will be the only iphone mount you will ever buy, it is that good - light, strong and easy to fit onto the vents, easy to attach phone onto.

Never had an issue with it, would rate it 10/10.

      • Kenu Airframe user here. It's more expensive than other vent mounts on eBay but it's sturdy, elegant, and really simple to use.

      • +1, I ended up buying the Kenu Airframe 5" and it attaches perfectly to the air vents in my Merc.

Holds my iPhone 6 perfectly, hasn't fallen off yet.

Much better position to mount the phone than all the way up on the windscreen as well

        Paid $30 at Officeworks http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/kenu-airfra…

and if you just want that style of mount there are plenty of cheap alternatives on ebay that work in the same way..
I decided to try one of the ~$1 versions from china to see if the style of mount would work in my car before buying the legit Kenu version (expecting the chinese one to be pretty poor at actually holding the phone and no local stores had an Airframe to look at) but I'm still using the ebay $1 version 6 months later

  • Sweet. Been looking at one of these for a while. Thanks.

    • Woah. Already ready for click and collect. Nice.

  • Just wondering if this is can be used on other phones or just iphone? It looked like the LOGITECH +Trip Vent Mount could be used with anyrhing.

    • You receive a very slim magnet that fits either on the back of a phone or in between a case and a phone, so it works with any case or phone.

awesome a mount for a phone that is 2-3 yrs old…..

    • +3

Um you realise you can use this for any phone, right? Just stick the included magnetic plates onto the phone's back (or a case) and voila!

Best car mount for Nexus 5.

    • Yep, sure is. Even with a case on, the Nexus 5' inbuilt magnetic capabilities on its back makes this mount the best there is. Not even sure Logitech or Google knew about this (the capability is due to the inductive charging coils).

  • Thanks, Got one.

  • Thanks OP - ordered.

Lots of stores have stock in Adelaide

    Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I got mine at $32 the other day!

Best mount ever! Use mine with a Oneplus One and a Diztronic TPU case. Perfect.

Finally a mount that works and doesn't fall off.

    • Is this strong enough to hold for big phone like one plus one?

      • Yes, solid as a rock. Tested over the bumpiest pot hole ridden road in Australia, my work street.

        Phone did not budge.

        • +1

          Thanks miller. Ordered one. :)

I bought mine about 6 months ago and totally love it. Using it with an iPhone 6.

    Most convenient mount ever.

If you're using the plates, make sure you use a flat thin case. The case I'm using is a soft gel case.

  • Could this be used with an xperia z2? I just checked with a magnet and my phone isn't that magnetic… checked on the back/front/sides..

    • +2

I think they come with 1 or 2 metal plates that you can insert beneath your phone cover or stick direcly on the phone if you don't use a cover.

    • +2

It comes with a slim magnet that either stick right on the back of a device (not sure who would do that) or it fits in between a case and phone, which is what I plan on doing

Edit: Slim metal plate not magnet

    • +1

Thanks guys.. Yeah.. i see it comes with slim plates so you can either stick it to the back of your phone or between a case..

this vid helped me understand wtf it is..

  • This is pretty annoying ordered mine late last night and now reduced further how do I get it for this price as I want refunded the difference, mine is ready for collection today as well.

  • Thanks. Got one :)

  • Where's the Sony Xperia Ultra +Drive mount?
You can use this for any phone right? Not just IP5?

    • correct.. look at the youtube vid i linked above… you'll just need some sort of case..

  • I can't find the Dick Smith store in Cashrewards - can anyone confirm if it is applicable or not?

    EDIT - It's EBAY… I should have looked harder :P

    • Buy it on ebay.. with the discount code..

  • What is the difference between these two? Is the IP5 only suitable for an iPhone 5?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LOGITECH-iP5-Drive-Mount-/2617200…
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-Drive-Car-Mount-/2517771…

    • +1

Same Mount, The IP5 pack comes with an extra Iphone 5/5S Case, which is why it's called IP5. That is all.

The IP5 Pack used to be $70.

      • Thanks for that. Makes no sense that is cheaper, but I'll take it!

        • Yeah, I thought the same thing. I even called Logitech to confirm..

Dicksmith also explained because the pack had an Iphone 5 case and the Iphone 6 was out, that it's on clearance, even though it's not listed as clearance. Weird but like you said, I'll take it!

  • So I bought the Trip+, but haven't yet attached the metal plates to my phone. I don't use a case but I do have a Rhinoshield (polymer protector) on the front and back.

Do you think it's ok to attach the metal plate over my Rhinoshield? Or is that likely to rip the Rhinoshield off when I detach the phone from the magnet (on the Trip+)?

  • Why is it so hard to get any reply from these guys mine is ready for collection but cause they have reduced price further and cause I ordered late last night I want the lower collection price.

  • i think this is the one with the universal adapters. the posted deal is only for the iphone 5 i recall…

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Logitech-Drive-Car-Mount-/2517771…

    • +1

Nope, works with all phones. Comes with a universal sticker metal mount (I bought one a few days ago)

    • What universal adapters? Deal is only for iPhone 5?

      • When i was last instore, the representative told me there was a model for the iphone 5 with a case and there was another model that was universal to other phones. confused the hell out of me. haha

        • The Docks are the same the only difference is this one comes with an extra Iphone 5 Case.

Logitech only sell One type of Drive+ Mount there is no other versions, it's universal. The only other mount they sell is the Trip+ (little vent mount)

  • Anyone know where to get extra Universal mounts for this?

  • I was all geared up to buy this. Ebay let me pick either of two stores close to me to click and collect from but once I got to confirming the payment at Paypal it said that the store didn't have the item in stock. It took me back to the pick a store page and the other store was still showing as an option. Chose that and proceeded to paypal payment page, same issue. Dissapoint :/

Is it still worth it getting this delivered for $30.53? How much is it normally?

    • I think someone said the rrp was $70

      • Thanks for the quick reply. I asked but then thought I could/should do my own research. It looks like COTD had these for $29.98 recently (before shipping) and JB has the non-IP5 version currently for $50

        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/Phone-Accessories/logitech/…

Based on that information and the fact I am in the market for a car mounting solution for my S4 and/or existing Navman GPS - I will cop with delviery for $30.53

  • It was 40 bucks not 70. Check

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/the-logitech-para-copy-case-driv…

    Save 8 dollars

    • No. The original dicksmith price & RRP was $70.

$40 was the first clearance price(before this price drop), although not advertised as clearance. I spoke to a store manager about this.

  • Out of stock now

  • Still available online from DS if you don't mind missing out on the 20%

  • sold out :(

  • C'mon Dick-Smith give us some more stock please!

  • Is this supposed to have one or two of them square adapters with it,can't see anything about it saying two just says adaptor?
If there is just one I read that you can if you case is thin stick it inside the case how?
If you stick in on the inside the case is the magnet not facing wrong way, should it not be stuck at back of case im confused.
Reason I ask if it has one or two mine from store had seals broken but tapped back up maybe a return or customer wanted a look?
But nothing looks to have been used inside.

    • I just got mine and I was panicking when I couldn't find it lol.

So far I can only find one square adapter (as I assume the other one is the case itself) and it's on the same side as the sticker for a flat plastic surface. I just stuck mine outside the case and there's no fuss.

      • Same side of sticker what do you mean? The magnet is on same side as sticky part? As that the only way I think you could stick it on inside but saying that lol it's a magnet so it's probably magnetic both sides just one side is sticky?
I don't fancy sticking this on my back cover of phone any ideas?
What have most of you used or done, cheap case perhaps?
That's cool you only seen adaptor as vid on you tube shows two but when you look at the dick smith ad does not say adapters just adaptor.
Just hate the fact when buying something item is new not something missing as much of a deal it is etc most will have got one sealed new.

        • 1) Yeah - Outside a cheap case (is $15 cheap?). Nobody sticks this on their actual phone lol.
          2) What I meant with the sticker is the circular round plastic to stick on top of the dashboard. The square adapter is located on the same side.
          3) I know what you mean with buying new stuff. Bought a camera at dicksmith once and I assumed it was new since it's "sealed". Went to the food court to have a check and the camera had been used and the battery compartment does not even close. Immediately returned it.

  • After looking at a video on you tube I see that it comes with two square adapters?does not mention this on instructions just say square adaptor, thought it would say adapters.how many did you guys get?
Is it worth comparing about as box looked to have been revealed with tape when I got it and I think or going by what's said in the instructions all seems to be there apart from my question of the adaptor.
I did buy also the vent one too not opened that yet but all sealed and that probably have adaptor or should I say adapters inside with that so its not as if I will not have any,it's the fact I paid for this item been opened sealed back up and possibly something missing as in the adaptor let me know guys who purchased one, maybe the person got this one I have just to grab an adaptor out of it.

  • Should have 2 x metal plate stickers

    • Nope, the IP5 +drive pack comes with only 1 metal plate. The other is meant to be the case.

      • +1

I stand corrected yhen, as i uave the logitech +Trip

  • Ok no worries thats ok then.

  • +1

I bought mine about 6 months ago and use it for my Sony Xperia Ultra - totally love it.

  • I installed the disc to the dashboard and tried to mount the suction cup there. But it is impossible to turn the locking mechanism when the windshield is so close! The lock is so hard to turn. So it is really not properly attached to the disc.

Might have to use double sided tape or something to keep it attached.
