    • They should have a guy competition!!!! down with sexism, down with sexism.. cough

      • Next year there will be a guy comp

    • Relax JV, nothing derogatory here, its harmless.

Obviously the target market for this product is male/20-40/active etc and this is just a linked marketing gimmick for this group. No need to wave the rainbow flag.

    • maybe when the proportion of female customers increase, we might actually care

    • Jeez jv, you're pulling out all stops to get the point across that you're not happy! Spelling, sexism, racism…wow, if I ever get in trouble with the law I might call you as my defence attorney, you sure leave no stone unturned! :p

Until then though, pull your head in a bit eh! ;)

  • Okay looks like we need to clear some things up

    1) this site is for bargains, this is not a a bargain so should be in the forum
    2) You are getting feedback Geronimo cause this should be in the forum

    3) the product is good although really needs to be in retail stores

  • Having said the above i am about to order some :)

  • +1

I purchased a small pack of each of the flavours last week and received today, have to say probably one of the best ones i have eaten and i have tried a lot, so far i have just tried the original and nearly eaten that all :( very nice, only thing is really needs to combine shipping for multiple packs as $9 for 3 small packs when clearly the price that you paid to post was only $4.35 maybe express at $9 is ok.

i think i will be ordering a KG b4 xmas or tell the wife that it should be waiting under the tree for me.

  • +4

    Is this available in vegetarian?

    • Lol that's gold, Vegetarian flavoured beef jerky.

      • +4

where? I can't find it on their page ????

    • +1 on the LOL! :)

All jokes aside, there are jerky-style tofu/gluten products available in most asian countries, in a variety of flavours, some are quite tasty, just a bit oily/sugary. My favourite of these would have to be the "tonkatsu snack" in Japan, it's even crumbed, tres cool! ;)

No substitute for the real thing though, jerky is much leaner! :)

  • +1

is it too late to order samples. i saw the original post ages ago. but didnt think i wud get it in time (and it seems i was right) but from ppls comments this stuff tastes great. so i want to try as well

edit nvm i just bought a 200gm pack. hope it arrives faster than the samples

Geronimo make big song and dance last time with oz bargain braves.

I send him smoke signals - Him no send jerky to my village.

Him blow smoke up my tee-pee.

    • I laughed out loud :D

  • I've gotten my sample after like 4 months haha

    • YEAH ! ! ! !

and I guess you dont like the taste judging by the comment or your fed up with me..lol

  • Yeah im going to give this a try, sounds like a decent munchies snack. How long will 280g last me? I'm worried i might eat it all in 1 go and need more, is this possible?

  • +2

I think you will be ok..work on one of the 40g bags first and see how you go.

It is dangerous with beer as for some reason it goes alot quicker :-)

    • If it's really an Australian product, why do the ingredients say "colorings" instead of "colourings" ?

      • -1

Oh JV - you got me-I decided to covertly rent a shop on 240 Stafford road and pay rent on it.
I then make my jerky back home in the states and post it to Australia to you- Luckily I was thinking ahead and flew to Australia and purchased a whole bunch of prepaid satchels and envelops from the post office. I then flew back to America and started pumping it out.Once I got a couple POUNDS cooked I then decided not to sale my Geronimo Jerky to the USA market ..no no..I thought I would sale it to the Australian market as I forcasted our economy would pick up alot quicker then the USA economy.

JV, Should I be taking all your comments as a personal attack on myself or our business???

        • Should I be taking all your comments as a personal attack on myself or our business???

          or perhaps constructive criticism?………

          • @andy19363: Umm, have you actually read jv's comments andy?

The tone is nothing like "constructive"; more like "vindictive"!

            • @StewBalls: well, the comments I was looking at were the "demeaning to women"….which is a fair point. If they are marketing solely to blokes (beer, poster girls, etc) then they are reducing their potential market significantly.

and why is 'coloring' used?…..printed elsewhere?, spelling mistake?, poor proof reading?

It's fine for a little 2 cent operation supplying ozbargainers but if plans are to expand and attract retailers….little discrepancies matter and should be identified and dealt with.

So whilst JV's comments might not be "constructive" in the traditional sense…They do provide insight and opportunity for improving the product and marketing.

                • @StewBalls: Great post Stewballs, exactly what I was also thinking.

                • +1

                  @StewBalls:

The harsh reality is that sex sells

Of course…but dried beef is a fairly niche market anyway….why potentially narrow your market further?

Have you just started some sort of marketing/business course or something andy?

noooo….way too old for that kind of nonsense……

Who cares about spelling or proofreading mistakes

who knows….pedants, perfectionists, prospective investors…. There may be a belief that if a company cannot get the main prominent, 'flagship' product right…who knows what may be happening further down the line - particularly relevant to mass catering…..Garibaldi anyone?
(of course, I'm sure this particular company are fine…..just pointing out a possible train of thought)
You also never know who might frequent these forums, and for some……first impressions may well count.

and if you think these guys are any worse than a hell of a lot of other businesses

Surely you would want a better business motto than "at least we're not as bad as business B".

                  including some big business

I guess if you are going to get slack, it would be better to do it when you are a big established business…..not when you are starting up.

you really need to get out more mate!

                  You're probably right…..

I’m sure the errors can, and have been, pointed out to Geronimo in a far more diplomatic (read: effective) way than halfwit recriminations by the likes of jv!

I'm sure I agree….however, undiplomatic as it was, my point was that it is possible to reflect on the content and, if necessary make changes, or not……Lots of companies pay lots of money for feedback…here, it's free. May as well make use of it, undiplomatic or otherwise.

                  • @andy19363: We had planned to have a Geronimo Big Chief Comp next year before we opened business (for the ladies). I guess we wanted to try and be a bit different and have more interaction.
I thought it would be nice to have a group of friends rather than numbers- Get to know our Friends of Geronimo and once we have are feet firmly planted start rewarding are loyal friends. It would be nice to have loyal people stand behind us and watch us grow as we pass each milestone.
I can understand that people have their views but I think some people are out there to ruffle feathers as opposed to offering genuine advice and guidance. Also I think people could take a different approach-
I greatly appreciate any help or advice that people want to give-What spelling mistakes? We have had a couple changes made, are there any more we have missed?
                    Take care……………………..
                    The Big Chief.

        • How about answering the actual question? Customer service like that can turn away a lot of potential customers and it doesn't entice me to want to shop with you.

          • +1

@arcticmonkey: It was such a petty, spiteful question I wouldn't waste my time answering it either!

All of jv's comments are no more than personal attacks, inventively but maliciously seeking all avenues of reproach; though to what end I'm not certain? Perhaps he/she is in competition, jealous, who knows, but there is a clear pattern of sabotage there!

BC's done the right thing here, politely answering as many genuine queries & concerns with as good a humour as possible without lowering himself to flame-wars with the riff-raff! Good show! :)

          • @arcticmonkey: Stew is right, how can BC answer the question when it's a rhetorical question? i'm pretty sure jv had no intention of actually asking an honest question.
That said, yes, proper customer service is important. i think BC should've stayed silent, which would've been the proper way to treat hecklers like jv.

            • @cheng2008: Noted Cheng but I think if anyone was poked over and over with a stick they would snip back.

ActionMonkey-I have been answering serious questions politely and promptly as you may well know-I am sure everyone else knows this.

I mean do you think JV was asking a serious question? I just had a look at a couple other comments he has posted elsewhere-(I havent corrected his spelling)

I now realize I should have just laid there and took it.

Been too busy to really participate here recently, but just freed up some time to poke my head in, to my surprise! I can't see where all the whinging is coming from, and some of it's been pretty pedantic (like spelling?), let's face some facts:

    1. BC said all along free sample for first 100, then kindly upped the ante to a coupla thousand - that's a lot of time, money and effort to a startup business - so if a few people are late getting theirs, and as the reasons have been clearly outlined throughout the process anyway, I think we can cut 'em some slack!

    2. We (who've tasted) all agree this is a top-notch product - now here's an offer that gives you an extra 20% and a free t-shirt for nix, I reckon that's a decent enough bargain!

    3. Starting up a business (particularly an online presence) is quite often a learning curve, so what if they've made a few small errors, - everybody does - they've not shirked responsibility for them, BC has been honest to a fault all along, I reckon that's enough to earn a bit of patience!

    4. I've checked out quite a few competing products, and the pricing of this product is not just very competitive, it is better than many of it's peers, those who think otherwise really need to get out more! ;)

    5. Some of you guys need to lighten up, I've seen some light-hearted responses to comments here by BC that have been clearly aimed at defusing some of the hostility, but have been greeted with negs and further criticism. Get a sense of humour guys!

FWIW, I got my sample last week, as did my GF, we both loved it! Please see my most recent comments on the other Geronimo threads for a mini-review if you like. I placed my order first thing Monday, without hesitation; that's how impressed I was with the product, and when you take all of the above into consideration, the service has been pretty darn good too all things considered!

Those who've seen my past posts will know I'm not shy about whinging when I think something's not good value, so for someone as stingy as me to recommend something unreservedly with which I'm not affiliated there must be some merit to the product! :)

    • Thank you so much Stewballs-

Good to have some support out there :-)

      • No problems mate, I think the majority of people, when they have a good objective think about it, will truly understand! ;)

Did you get my email re: T-shirt size? ;)

  • Its all good-

The Jerky is rolling out and people are getting samples.

    The Big Chief.

    • Hi Chief,

I want to order the 200gm pack of Blazing Saddle, is there any way to get a 40gm pack of spicy shaman and 40gm of regular instead of another 40gm of Blazing Saddle?

Interested in trying out the regular but prefer the hot stuff when I am at home, take hte regular jerky when we go hiking for some protein, which is probably the thing Jerky is best for (need to remember to pack heaps of water as well lol).

      • Zerosignal-When you order let me know or email me and I will make sure you get what you want :-)

        The Big Chief

  • +1

I still haven't received my sample but I'm tempted to order when I get paid anyway due to other people raving about the quality of it.

People need to cut BC some slack - it started with 100 samples yet he's trying to fulfil all 2000+ sample requests, at his own expense. It's not like he hasn't been honest about everything.

Who cares if it's colorings or colourings? It's probably just his spell check being set to US English. (Speaking of errors though, Big Chief - there are a few on your site that you'll probably want to correct. No big deal but grammar nerds like me notice them and they can be offputting…)

The only reason I haven't ordered already is because I want to know what the different flavours taste like first!

In the end, it seems like it's a great product and people will go for that, forgiving the small errors, especially when the company is this transparent.

Definitely try and fix the postage structure though. Maybe make it weight based? Say $7 flat rate for up to 500 grams and $10 flat rate for over 500 grams? That should cover handling costs as well and people know how much postage is generally so will get put off if it stays on the current structure.

    • MIstyMoo-send me an email with the subject Spelling Bee so I can get you out some samples in this run.
      The Big Chief

      • Thanks heaps :) I wasn't looking to jump the queue at all but I definitely won't complain! Thumbs up to you :)

        • I know- :-)

          • @GeronimoJerky: You seem to keep pushing people up the queue…

            sigh…

            • @massari: Ok OK…send me an email saying I AM TIRED OF WAITING

              • +1

                @GeronimoJerky: LOL…NO THANKS!
I won't jump the queue…if it happend to be my turn then I'll try your sample but I won't buy until I taste it.

  • I couldn't wait for the sample to arrive so I went ahead and bought a 40g pack that I just received today.

Hopefully the free sample is still on the way.

I got some of the original stuff, not a big fan of spicy/hot foods. Initial thoughts are that it is pretty salty. The flavour is nice but I reckon a bit less salt would be good.

My dad tried a bit too and says it's really nice, but he loves salty stuff.

So overall it's a thumbs up to this jerky. Now I'll be waiting on my free sample to give it another round of taste tests.

  • Just ordered mine the wife has been keen on this stuff since the sample came

  • just ordered yesterday, been reading some positive comments here.
Can't wait to receive and taste it, when should I expect it to arrive in VIC?

  • +1

I am NOT asking to be pushed up the queue, but I'm a bit peeved that those who bitch and moan seem to keep jumping up the queue.

I appreciate what you are trying to do Mark, but I hate that those with the least constructive criticism are reaping the rewards.

I am happy to wait for my turn for a sample.

    • Hey Antman-send me an email with the subject Ardvark-you will wait no more :-)

  • Can I get a free sample too :o

    The Big Chief

    • Thanks Big Chief! It's great to see your listening to your customers. I received my order 4 days ago and it was great. I look forward to seeing what your next special will be.

      Matt

    • Awesome! I'll definitely be up for that deal :)

  • Just wondering how long till i get my jerky i ordered on the 18th now its the 24th and i am in Syd.

I replied to the webadmin email confirming my order i really wanted it bfore my trip up the coast ??

    Please avise ??

    • Howdy Mike-We sent your jerky on the day you sent your email enquiring on if it left. The post said up to six days, when do you leave? let me know ASAP - I am bringing Laptop to Shop and will check on it after we put some more jerky down.

      The Big Chief-

      • Hi Big Chief, cool i leave fri morn so if it is here by thurs would be exellent

      • So Big Chief any update on my jerky ?

        • Howdy Mike-We sent your jerky on the day you sent your email enquiring on if it left. The post said up to six working days- where are you heading to?

          • @GeronimoJerky: sorry not helping the day i sent the email enquiry was the day i enquired here (24th)

on your previous post i read 2-4 days delivery so by my count this day is 7, tomorrow is 8 and fri when i go is 9 days.

By my recollection it was posted 5-6 days after ordering is this not right if so then by all means set the correct expectation

just to confirm i ordered on the 18th
followed up on the 24th (you advised it was sent this date ie my enquiry from my email was the 24th which is 6 days after order)

            • @Mikinoz: Hello Mikinoz. It is Flatcoke isnt it?- got mixed up

No-Was not sent yesterday-was sent on the 19th in the afternoon after pulling down a batch of fresh Jerky. The only reason I am saying 2-6 days is I went to the post and told them that it is taking over 3 days for some of our customers-They said it could take up to 6 days.

I need to put on the order page that deliver will take 2-6 working days so there is no dissappoint ment.

To give you an idea a cook last for 14 hours-We might do a midnight cook and will be taking it off at 2 the folling afternoon-then it gets packages straight away and given to one of the tribesman to address once this is done it goes out to the post-This would mean the postie would get it around 4-5pm And then its up to them………..

Please give it another day and let me know and We will work something out if it is lost by the postie.

              The Big Chief

              • @GeronimoJerky: Thanks for that Mark , nice of you to let people here know my alias did you want to supply, i dont know my credit card details as well

Actually i find it hard to beleive you are even posting it as you say it doesnt not take that long this is aus post they are generally very good.

I send packages all over the country every day (ebay) an it doesnt ever take more than 5 working days

So i have given it another day and its not in the post, can you tell i am not happy!

I am going to start a forum topic to help you and others keep track on their jerky and to keep you honest.

I appreciate as do others here the respond to comments etc

after this i am only buying jerky in stores back to jack links

                • @Mikinoz: Mikinoz-I am sorry for that-

Aus post is very good Mikinoz I agree-

And most people have received there jerky well in time.

And the only reason I have posted this is that that is what I have been told by them 2-6 days.

I can understand you being eager to get your Jerky and I was going to make it up to you and still will if it didnt arrive in the alloted time.

I had someone who complained and abused me after 3 days only to send an appoligy as it arrived that afternoon.

That was the only reason I said could you wait-I thought it was reasonable and am sorry you feel otherwise.

I will have another package expressed to you and I am assuming if for some reason you get an extra parcel of Jerky in the menatime you will let me know.

                  Kind Regards,

                  Mark 'The Big Chief"

P.S. Please dont say "to keep me honest" Mikinoz. I have been nothing but honest to ever question by everyone.

P.S.S. I am also going to throw in a lil extra for you as I am truely sorry.

                  • @GeronimoJerky: Fair enough you have been better than any other rep i have experienced here :)

and you take the abuse with a grain of salt which does show a higher level of care/skill than most (i can be an ass)

still i think tracking the jerky is a good idea and maybe it will help u track the orders and get real delivery info?

                    • @Mikinoz: I agree-
at the moment it has gone out normal post but we mark when it goes out-

To keep the cost down we have done normal post and to be honest it has been working well for us BUT we are very new to this so any advice people can give to keep post cost down but provide a quick safe service to you would be greatly appreciate.

And Mikinoz I do appreciate your frustration and thank you for understanding. I am off to the shop to pack-oh Joy!! oh joy!!

                      The Big Chief

                      • @GeronimoJerky: my recommendation is always go with registered post

ebay exp, it is much better if you can track it and if it is insured. registered post incudes up to 100 or 150 insurance cant quite remember which
the paperwork is the problem if you can get the forms from your local P.o ad fill them out before posting is the trick

i have had an ebay business for 5+ years selling small IBM laptop/pc/server pieces to mostly australia and some overseas. in addition to my normal 9-5 job and my new website which will be launched soon hard to juggle atm

                        • @Mikinoz: I just bought the registered post sitckers yesterday in a box so I am glad I am heading in the right direction.

Talk soon and I hope I can curb you away from other brands as in some causes its like chewing a thong (ones that go on feet)…..

Merry Christmas from Geronimo Jerky and the Big Chief.

  • Great jerky chief!
Just ordered the sample pack and can say I really enjoyed it.
    You'll have a return customer here ;)

    Merry Xmas.

My prediction for 2010: I'm going to have a jaw like Popeye's with all this Jerky chewing!

  • Funny thing is that every time I read these posts I get hungry and go buy some other jerky from my bottle shop. The marketing is creating a demand, just for someone else's products.

Nothing a promised free sample couldn't fix but I won't hold my breath.

  • Where’s my sample?
