  • Some time ago they had a voucher to use this deal in store. I could not find one this time. Anyone had more luck?

    • Nope, am keen on a voucher to use in store as well. Tried the thigh roast during the last promo and it was pretty good :)

    • +1

We saw a return to the standard "2 for $8.00" price last week - right next to house brand Chicken mince at "2 for $9.00" - so, we chose the Steggles.

I don't know how long those "two-fer" prices will remain…

PS Turkey mince is Excellent in my Mum's Chile recipe, instead of beef.
(We also replace its call for Sugar(!) with local Sultanas. :-)

Also, there is a new book suggesting the "fear" of red meats, butter, etc. is not based on evidence of increased risk. Its author (who studied lotsa past research studies) concludes we've been adding to our risks, by avoiding these foods (in moderation, they're fine, & maybe even helpful/necessary), per past nutritionists' advice.

I think "white meats" like chicken & turkey are fine, if you can get them sans anti-biotics, ie, IF the birds are raised free-range.

(Can they even raise huge turkeys in small cages? I hope not. Anyone know for sure?)

      Comments?

      • Even if the turkeys are raised outdoors they may still have some antibiotics.

        I wouldn't necessarily equate free-range to sans-antibiotics.

        • That's good to know. Before Steggles, there was a local SA farmer (south of Adelaide), who raised turkeys. I met him once as he was promoting his products, at the opening of a Foodland, just a bit south of Adelaide, some years ago.

[I think he told me his birds don't get any drugs.]

  • The voucher for this was great.

  • Seems like a strange product choice for an online only promotion. Shame, I'd love a voucher again too.

  • might try some turkey shanks, do you cook it just like chicken?

    • I love these. Stick some garlic in them, sprinkle herbs, salt and pepper on them then put them in a baking dish and cover in foil. Put them in the oven at 160C for about three hours. Falls apart and delicious.

  • Online makes meeting the minimum purchase price a little difficult if you're shopping for one
